Tegan and Sara's super-poppy new record Heartthrob will likely spawn a bevy of awesome remixes, but this one of killer single "Closer," from Yeasayer , is setting the bar pretty high - they shift the track's bubblegum quality down a few notches, layering the Quin sisters' fun, flirty vocals over a maximalist, undulating electronic soundscape, complete with skittering drum machines and the band's trademark wandering basslines and otherworldly sounds. Tegan And Sara and Yeasayer are two festival-standby rock bands who have been playing around with dance beats more and more lately, but they're taking opposite approaches: Bright, uplifting clarity for Tegan And Sara, mysterious hippie swirl for Yeasayer. Laneway is always one of scenewave's favourite festivals of the Aussie summer. It prides itself on delivering a lineup which, at the time of release, has a couple of massive headline bands, but more importantly, acts as an incredible showcase of bands tipped to hit it big in the coming year.
