In August, New York's experimental indie group Yeasayer released their third full-length album Fragrant World on Secretly Canadian Records . The track "Reagan's Skeleton" is off it, and today they share its official music video directed by Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard. The reverb-heavy song appropriately gets doused with grainy and lo-fi visuals for a retro, unfinished look.

Photo by Cap Blackard Yeasayer have released a new live video for "Reagan's Skeleton", the latest single from Fragrant World (out now via Secretly Canadian). It provides a pretty good idea of what to expect from the band on their latest world tour. Speaking of which, they've also rescheduled their European leg, which was postponed last month following the birth of Anand Wilder's daughter , and announced a few more shows in the U.S. Check out the video and tour docket below. I'm not sure if there's any connection, intentional or otherwise, but the brand-new clip for Yeasayer's "Reagan's Skeleton" - a highlight from the band's recent third album, Fragrant World - has a real Reagan-era feel to it: It's a dramatically lit performance video that would have fit comfortably on MTV circa '85, in between vids from Simple Minds and the Power Station . That feeling is enhanced by the weird wavy quality of the picture, which makes it look like it was recorded off TV onto a well-worn VHS cassette. And [...]

We just discovered this really nice downtempo/piano-ambient project by talented Cale Parks (who's also the latest addition to Yeasayer's live outfit). New York-based Parks already drummed for acts like Passion Pit, Steve Moore, White Williams, did remixes for Neon Indian, Bear In Heaven, Ra Ra Riot and the Joy Formidable and is blogging HERE. Brooklyn band Yeasayer has released a video for "Reagan's Skeleton," which appears on their latest LP, Fragrant World . Directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard took a straightforward approach, documenting the band playing the track, but with some old school VHS-style flair. In addition to the visuals, Yeasayer has also announced more tour dates. Watch the video and check out the tour dates below. A GAME OF WORD ASSOCIATION WITH YEASAYER [...]
Band to Tour U.S. and Europe This Fall "Yeasayer delivered. . . The consistency they exhibit stems from the challenge Yeasayer gives itself – to innovate both onstage and off." - Austin Chronicle??“Fragrant World” is their most synthetic record yet, and while it’s impossible to tell how much was played live, pre-recorded or somewhere in between, the fact that Yeasayer obscured its mechanics while remaining an absolute party band is a major accomplishment." - LA Times Yeasayer - Reagan's Skeleton video Yeasayer Tour Dates: 11/6: Northampton, MA [...]

"The genre-defying Winnipeg 6-piece unleash the restraints on inspiration allowing their sound to traverse territory that more referentially self-concious pop groups wouldn't cross...an expansive, communal electro-pop experience worth getting a grip on." - CBC Radio "Royal Canoe . . . have an expertise in energetic psychedelic pop...deconstructed, slithering, intriguing." - Indie Shuffle It amazes me just how little I know about our neighbors in Canada and what they do all day up there. Fortunately, there [...]
Gone are the days when a sync placement purely involved just TV, film and advertising. An increasingly substantial part of the pie is now represented by gaming. So it's great news when we say The Orchard distributes 3 of the tracks on this year’s FIFA 13 soundtrack, including efforts by ...

I tend to romanticize the fall season. Sweater enthusiast aside, I find great solace in the season's shifting energies, the blotches of oranges and reds and yellows on neighboring streets, the way everyone's so adamant in "getting together," and how there's this overall appreciation for the macabre and supernatural. I usually attend at least one 24-hour horror movie marathon, I go through at least two bags of candy corn, and everything I eat or drink has something to do with a pumpkin. I've tried to explain why I feel this way, or give credence as to what the hell this obsession [...]
Yeasayer’s latest album follows the 2010 release of their disappointing and seemingly slapped-together sophomore album, Odd Blood . Fragrant World showcases Yeasayer’s distinct sound, more so than did Odd Blood ; however, it manages to do this only to the extent that it offers a taste of what the band used to be, leaving the listener wishing for a return to the organic, mystical sound of their 2007 debut album, All Hour Cymbals . The rest of the album is lost in the band’s apparent attempt to appeal to the masses, as it mimics [...]
The 2013 Laneway Festival lineup has landed and it is a beaaaauty. The Laneway organiser preceded their announcement by claiming that it is one of their greatest lineups to date. What do you think? Anyway, we think it's bitchin, with a lot of artists we barely know yet. From what we can tell though, these guys are good at picking emerging artists that will have well and truly be big names by the time Laneway comes around in late January. Obviously, straight off the bat, we are frothing over Yeasayer's inclusion in the lineup. Their third [...]

Some of you may remember the month of February, which was about eight months ago. On Valentine's Day, I released the trailer for my first short film, DOSA HUNT , and then forced Corban under duress and threat of termination of employment to post it here on Stereogum. Well, the movie is finally complete, and I'm very proud of it. It's premiering at Nitehawk Cinema in Williamsburg this weekend, and I want my online family there, so I am posting it here for your information. (You guys = fam.) Each ticket [...]
