The remix was not born in 2011, but maybe this was the year it became a real art. Remixes, like Keanu Reeves memes and cat videos, infiltrated the internet like ants at a picnic. Check out Sloane's favorite remixes and let 2012 bring even more offensively awesome dubstep and techno reworkings. ![[MP3] Sinkane – "Jeeper Creeper"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3931523_lg.jpg)
don't be low, seek and find ♫ Sinkane - Jeeper Creeper Ahmed Gallab is Sinkane. The fact that Ahmed Gallab is also in Yeasayer and has played for Caribou and of Montreal is irrelevant now because this music is Sinkane's. You can hear exactly why those bands want him as his Sudanese upbringing has clearly informed his sound with a bit of magic. Dreamy floaty guitar and drum music that gets a little psychedelic and a little chillwave-y both both in the best senses. Artist links: Facebook / Twitter / Amazon

Re:Mix Labs kicked off a week's worth of events at 401 S Main in Downtown LA on Tuesday night. This, the final stop for Re:Mix , which started at CMJ in NYC and made pit stops in Miami, Chicago and Las Vegas, of the Hyundai Veloster-sponsored multimedia event (from vintage arcade games and 3D movies streaming out from the trunks of cars to huge name artists in a small room spinning on the 1's and 2's). Tuesday's ANTENNA sponsored Grand Opening Reception featured an open [...]
There are some bands out there today that defy the odds of the ever-so daunting genre label. That label is the main thing that can box a band in and define them so early on that they have to work even harder to break through that barrier. And even if/when they do break through said barrier, their fans are so set on their past genre-defined music that it's quite a big gamble to take the chance of branching out into previously uncharted territory and possibly loosing a chunk of their fan base. Whew! But then there are those [...]
Sinkane, mit bürgerlichem Namen bekannt unter Ahmed Gallab ist der Drummer von Yeasayer. Sinkane veröffentlicht ein Soloalbum und verschenkt den ersten Song Jeeper Creeper. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]
Ahmed Gallab, who plays drums in Yeasayer , also makes electronic- and worldbeat- informed indie rock solo as Sinkane , and he's gearing up to release his next record Mars . "Jeeper Creeper" is off that record and it sounds like – well, if Yeasayer recruited Ali Farka Toure to layer skittering, bright guitar riffs over that post-apocalyptic electro soundscape they're such expert purveyors of. It makes sense that Gallab would draw from some of the more compelling elements of his main project, but his work really shines when he departs from it – we [...]

Re:Mix Labs goes live in Los Angeles this week, starting tomorrow the 6th and going until Sunday the 11th. This is the final stop for Re:Mix, which started at CMJ in NYC and made pit stops in Miami, Chicago and Las Vegas. Sponsored by the Hyundai Veloster, one of the more unique cars in recent memory, the Re:Mix events are free as long as you RSVP, kind of like a private party where everyone's invited. So be sure to stop by 401 Grand Ave in Downtown LA this week. Got that? Yeasayer spin tonight as part of the Grand Opening [...]

Sinkane is the musical project of Yeasayer multi instumentalist Ahmed Gallab. Gallab actually has been doing his thing under this moniker and touring with bands like Of Montreal and Caribou for a good bit longer than he's been with Yeasayer, just joining up with them prior to the Odd Blood recordings. This new song under the Sinkane name is called "Jeeper Creeper" and will appear on a new album entitled Mars which does not have a release date at this point. What I first hear in the song is a [...]
The fact that Ahmed Gallab, aka Sinkane member of the band Yeasayer, is from Columbus, Ohio warms my heart. Gallab was booking shows as a teenager, attended Ohio State and played in a couple of bands that gained a good deal of notoriety on the local scene. He's also been a part of the live [...]
Yeasayer's Ahmed Gallab has an incredibly colorful back story, one that starts in Sudan before Omar El-Bashir took over and has since made stops in Provo, Boston and Ohio. Though he's contributed to the live performances and tours of bands like Caribou and of Montreal since the age of 19 - currently, he serves as Yeasayer's resident multi-instrumentalist - he has always been Sinkane. Though Sinkane's new record will include contributions from the likes of Twin Shadow's George Lewis and Yeasayer's Ira Wolf and Mary J. Blige/Beyoncé collaborator Casey Benjamin, Gallab's sonic ideas constitute the core of Sinkane's sound. Download [...]

MP3: Jeeper Creeper Beloved Columbus ex-pat, Yeasayer's Ahmed Gallab aka Sinkane , leaked a song from his upcoming album Mars . It's a spacey, paced, beautiful and majestic song.

Words by Jacob Barron To my knowledge, no artist has risen to the challenge I issued in last year's edition of Soundtracking: Your Thanksgiving to create music endemic to this most gluttonous of holidays. There's apparently now a best Thanksgiving movie, at least according to this person , but still no Thanksgiving album. And so we gather again this year, to give thanks, to catch up with family members, to politely ignore their occasionally racist remarks, and to check out the surprisingly numerous albums suited to any and all of these [...]
There's something about Zorch that reminds me just slightly of Yeasayer when they made the change from freak-rock oddities to Burning Man soundtrack kids. I'm posting about Zorch though so the similarities are very very slight. Zorch is playing a strung out sort of long-form kind of electronic psych rock that dillies and dallies its [...]

Well my friends, it's that time of year again! November is a key month in the world of Aaron Loves Meghan... it's the month where we started dating, when we got engaged, and, of course, when we got married. And every year around this time we present our latest Aaron Loves Meghan mixtape! For the newbs, on Nov. 17th, 2007, Megs & I were married and at our wedding (which I iPod DJ'd) we gave everyone there a mixtape called Aaron Loves Meghan and, of course, posted it up on tsururadio. Since then, we've [...]

A band name beamed in from the Caribbean, a South African heritage, a Brooklyn base and a brief sojourn in Liverpool oughtn't add up to the debut mini-album from St. Lucia . Not that this self-titled parvum opus sounds distinctly like anywhere but a nook in time, in nostalgia, in hallucinatory moments in pop that never were. Foolhardily, we'd brazenly suggest experiencing this extended-play in reverse order so that you may fully appreciate its candied majesty, its heartwarming melancholia. Thus dive deep into the gushing, almost tidal spate of Closer Than [...]

Yes you read the title correctly, Dillon Francis and Death Cab for Cutie, a remix though - not a full on duet. Nevertheless the remix will be featured on Death Cab's very own "Keys and Codes Remix EP", set to release November 21st. The original comes from Death Cab's recent 7th LP release "Codes and Keys" that came out a few months ago. Straight up Dillon right here. Death Cab just recently posted the video to their twitter officially "un-releasing" it as one of the tunes on their EP. By the way if you're not too big on Death Cab [...]
