Back in 2010, the Austin based duo Yellow Fever released their self-titled debut, a collection of shambling pop tunes culled over the years from singles & EPs. Then after a relative silence for a time the band re-emerged this year with a follow up and a name change. The two linked up with Hardly Art to release a new full length as the newly dubbed Deep Time . This summer they took the show on the road to support said album and their tour brought them to one of our favorite venues, Comet [...]

Photo credit: Angel Ceballos Homebody - Deep Time // Buy I first heard about Deep Time (@d eep_time ) during an interview with Wild Flag ’s Carrie Brownstein conducted by Ira Glass’ wife, Anaheed Alani (and who on Earth wouldn’t trust a recommendation from that gang?). They’re a two-piece band, guy and girl, from Austin, Texas with a seriously cool [...]
This Texas based twosome, formerly Yellow Fever, loses its lo-fi luster. Hardly Art,2012 4.9 / 10.0 Not much has really changed since this Austin, Texas post-punk duo released their 2009 self-titled debut as Yellow Fever. Their bass driven songs still move at a crawl and Jennifer Moore's vocals, which at times [...]

Supple as a duo of gymnasts, and bendable as a group of velvety, silky, melodious hammers.. Las Vegas’s two-man group of YellowFever not only have put their thumbs and foot down on all the clout n’ cuff buttons, but will sure to have a long-lasting impact on all of the worlds sound systems via their uncompromised brand of clarity-filled pummels - and uttermost clip-round-the-ear stage smacks & compression-packed slaps like nobody’s business. As far as these four initial tracks are concerned, then it is maximum world class production praises which are on the agenda today. And all [...]

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars Working to cover the music scene in a town like Austin can sometimes be a bit much, and the sad truth is, you sometimes don't give much attention to deserving bands. Personally, I feel like all of Austin has largely ignored the continuous rise of Deep Time (the artists formerly known as Yellow Fever ). Based on the music alone, their self-titled debut for Hardly Art Records , that should definitely change. Immediately the duo [...]

[directed by Hannah Lew ] mp3: Deep Time :: Clouds
Deep Time Clouds There’s an eerie vintage quality to their sound, like skinny corduroys and patterned sweaters in the 70s, not because it was cool but because that’s what everyone wore. Getting high with your friends while listening to the Mama’s and the Papas, a kind of worn and grazed nostalgia vibe. Hipster without trying to be. I remember when these guys were called YellowFever and an outlet described a familiarity to their sound saying, ‘In the sense that you could as easily slot one of their catchy three-chord [...]

DOWNLOAD : Deep Time - Clouds (MP3) As you may have heard, Austin's YellowFever changed their name to Deep Time earlier this year for some sort of legal issues. With that minor setback out of the way, Jennifer Moore and Adam Jones have been busy readying Deep Time 's debut album which is out July 10 via Hardly Art. You can hear a track from it, "Clouds," right now and by the sound of it the [...]

It's been a great couple of weeks for Austin artists (depsite Michael C.'s hatred ); releases by Whitman , Zoltars , Literature and leaks of songs by Eastern Sea , Little Radar (coming tomorrow) and now Deep Time . Formerly the group was known as Yellow Fever here in our fair city, but as they've signed to Hardly Art , it's time to move on up in the world-and move in new directions. As Deep Time , the duo [...]

Here's a slinky little " haunted house surf music " gem from the band formerly known as Yellow Fever , Austin's Deep Time . The super-catchy " Clouds " is taken from the group's new self-titled LP, out this summer on Sub Pop offshoot Hardly Art . The band just wrapped up a brief West Coast tour with Grass Widow , but you can still catch them on their remaining California dates with our favorite S.F. ladies The Sandwitches . [...]

Moonmen On The Moon, Man a/k/a the Cake Shop house band, is getting ready to release their debut 8-song EP entitled, Maan via CAPE SHOK . The songs on Maan are fast, catchy bursts of janglepunk played by Andy Bodor (the head booker and co-owner of Cake Shop ), Isabel Martin (ex Yellow Fever ), Roxanne Lange along with a rotating cast of musicians. This here is side one, track one. Listen. Downloadable: Good Gun Time (mp3) Ordering info TK. [...]

TUESDAY OCTOBER 11 / WILD FLAG / LEE'S PALACE / 529 BLOOR W / $25 / 19+ Four ladies who love to play music — that's the best way you can describe Wild Flag, a four-piece band from Portland that is quickly making a name for themselves in the industry. Nineties nostalgia seemed to die a little when Wild Flag started playing last night. Usually you come to these shows expecting a commemoration of dead groups you clung to in high school (and like me, still do).… [ Read more ] [ Subscribe to the comments on this story ]
The day is already hot; yesterday was hot. I am inside right now with the air conditioner on and am quite comfortable, but, because the back door has to be shut, Gracie is driving me crazy. She rings her doggie bells to go out and a couple of minutes later flaps the dog door to come back inside. I think it's a test. Either that or she's out to drive me crazy. After I finish here, I'll join her on the deck while there is still a breeze. This morning I got my yellow fever shot for Ghana and a lecture [...]
This morning I could smell the ocean. I didn't want to come inside, but I reluctantly pulled myself away. It rained last night as it will every day this week. Today is still cloudy but a bit lighter than it's been, and the street is beginning to dry. Gracie found the baby possum last night. I heard her making a weird sounding bark and went outside. I rescued the possum, but I don't know how much life it had left. It moved when I grabbed it by its tail and put out it outside the yard. Gracie had only played [...]

Marcia and Ted of ANTIMAGIC sent us these answers to our questions in this next installment of the q and also a series. q: What is the last song you (really) heard? m: You Got Lucky (youtube) by Tom Petty . t: "Same Old Scene" by Roxy Music , from their much-maligned Flesh & Blood album from 1980. It's serves as the opening and closing music of the film Times Square also from 1980. Total ear candy perfection, but still kinda weird. [...]

I suppose it's inevitable for every show-goer to experience that special moment where he become the guy who frowns with displeasure at the kids massed around him, uttering the dreaded phrase he used to joke about. For me, it happened when I went to see the trendy Dirty Beaches last week. I've allowed myself to go along with the buzz, because I do like the dude's mysterious, lo/no-fi aesthetic. And I was excited to see [...]
