This mini remix Ep was released at the end of last week and man, it is amazing. We posted about the Oliver Tank remix of Geoffrey O'Connor's Whatever Leads Me To You last week on our facebook. And then I heard the other remixes on this new 'Yes Please' Remix EP...and subsequently downloaded all the other [...]

A couple months ago I posted about the Australian ambient artist Oliver Tank , and a track called "Last night I Heard Everything In Slow Motion" off the EP Dreams . Since then, I've spent some time with this great debut EP. Highly recommended for Eno, KC Accidental fans and it could possibly be this years' sunday afternoon soundtrack. Especially as the temperature starts to drop, I see myself spinning these songs on days where its just better to stay inside. Stream and buy the EP here , or below. [...]

I've been seeing this artist popping up on blogs today , caught my ear in a nice way. For fans of Eno, James Blake and ambient folktronica, check out Australian artist Oliver Tank and his first single off his debut EP to be released on the 24th October by Australian label Yes Please . Glad to hear those strings in there. Oliver Tank" Last Night I Heard Everything in Slow Motion" by cpragency

Some of us are really excited for the Eat Real event, so excited we might even brave the 405 closure debacle & cross from East to West side. Heck, some of us who think free labor is like running in public — the horror — might even volunteer. Here's the official blurb, interspaced with photos from the "Preview Event", followed by further thoughts on the festivities inspired by the Eat Real Fest Oakland: The [...]

It's a bit in reverse, given the EP itself isn't out yet, but to get the hype-monster working for them Yes Please Records have set loose a remix package, complete with no-less than EIGHT re-edits, bro-dubs and bedroom-loop-oddities of tracks lifted from Guerre's upcoming Darker My Love EP. Sydney's current obsession with glitch and dub finds its fullest expression here - Collarbones, Winterpeople, Townhouses, Albatross, FISHING - everyone's in on this party. Stream here: Guerre - Darker My Love: Remixes by yes please Then download that [...]

If you handed me a map and told me to point to Finland I could do that with relative ease (thanks to a pricey liberal arts education), it's that little country that looks sort of like a demonic claw that borders Sweden and Russia. Okay, first off what the hell does this have to do with listening to music (as the name of the site implies)? Well, to answer that question, Yes Please! is a genre-less band that calls this relatively cursory country its home. The band is composed of vocalist/guitarist Mikael, backing vocalist/guitarist Teppo, and bassist/backing vocalist [...]

Date Tuesday, April 5th Location Emos Doors 900p Tickets $10 @ the Door If you've been following our site, or just the Internet in general, the odds are you're well aware of Jason Quever and Papercuts . His control over melodies, as well as his lush arrangements in the studio, have made me a huge fan of everything he does. He'll [...]

All your childhood favorites are represented: pills, mushrooms, and marijuana. But where are the Charlie Sheen-level cupcakes for banging seven gram rocks? The only thing addicting about these are the cupcakes. Nom nom nom. [via gizmodiva ]
Author Michael Chabon, who's never penned an awful sentence in his life (I'm imaging this based solely on the published evidence at hand), has pitched a show to HBO and the network has picked it up. According to Variety , Hobgoblin - from Chabon and his wife, author Ayelet Waldman - is a drama about "a motley group of conmen and magicians who use their skills at deception to battle Hitler and his forces during WWII." So you're telling me there might be a show about magicians battling Nazis from one of my favorite authors? [...]

As always, we are reminded that Wu-Tang Clan ain't nothing to fuck'wit. Otherwise this seems fairly spot-on, if from a stereotypical pov. Details here if you're inclined to buy this poster from Grant Snider. [via dailywhat ]

Now I can get drunk first thing in the morning over a giant bowl of Cocoa Pebbles. [ thanks, Mike ! ]

Finnish band Yes Please! was founded in 2003, when singer-guitarist Mikael Jurmu, guitarist Teppo Meriläinen and drummer Max Ahlström rehearsed in Max's grandmother kitchen. When they weren't eating what Max's grandmom was cooking, they were recording. They released their first EP Double Toast, Double Flavour was released in 2005 and followed by the Last Week EP in 2007. While the band's early songs were sunny British indie rock. Today's output is a bit darker and less sunny, which is almost like a reflection of a Scandinavian winter. Their third EP, Cold Spell In [...]

While we work up our in-depth analysis from reading about this online, take your pick of the frankly too-damn-many articles out there this morning on it.

Beer on tap for Burger King's Whopper Bars [Mississippi Clarion Ledger] Don't look for beer at conventional Burger Kings. That's not in the plans. But more Whopper Bars — which offer an assortment of burgers, toppings and beer — could be on tap in tourist hot spots such as New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, says Chuck Fallon, president of Burger King North America. A brewski at the new Whopper Bar — served in special aluminum bottles to keep them extra cold [...]
It's almost Thanksgiving. Woooo ooooo oooo. I can already smell the burning, dead bird and the aluminum rank of cranberries from a can. Clap your hands everybody, it's a goddamn celebration. Stumbling across Yes Please this morning, the solo project of Lily from Grass Widow, I felt decidedly adjusted to the Thanksgiving spirit of this town [...]
Most of the time, this site features artists that are deemed "obscure" despite some recent buzz. An artist previously covered by a major publication is rarely featured, mainly because I would feel irrelevant in writing about something already exposed and beaten to death. Nonetheless, the artists that are featured usually have recent buzz or praise [...]
