Yeah, I may be getting old but I can still rock out the hell out. I certainly don't feel 42 most of the time and I still get excited when a band I love comes to town. I saw that doom masters YOB were gonna be here before hitting the road with Tool, and knew it was maybe my only good chance to see the band that made my number-one album last year. It was on a Monday, so that sucked, but I still couldn't pass it up. After all, this was gonna be up-close and [...]
You have to hand it to TOOL. They are so huge and such a force in mainstream rock, that when they announce an arena tour they could just take out some radio-friendly band, but instead, they chose to take out bands they enjoy: Intronaut and YOB. These are bands who are used to playing dive bars and shitty ...
We're not the only ones scratching our heads at the incredible (and well deserved) good fortune bestowed upon Intronaut by the mighty Tool in the form of a string of opening gigs: guitarist/vocalist and MetalSucks contributor Sacha Dunable is just as awestruck. In a tour diary for L.A. Weekly, Dunable shares some of the expected dream-like scenarios of [...]

The UK Punk act The Boys had their beginnings generate from the combination of several factors, one being from the influential group Hollywood Brats, a band that was the UK equivalent to the New York Dolls. The Hollywood Brats featured keyboardist/vocalist Casino Steel after making some recordings the band split (although they continued with a different line up) who would join forces with Matt Dangerfield (guitar/vocals), who converted his flat into a recording studio. The two joined up with Honest John Plain (guitar/vocals), Duncan "Kid" Ried (bass/vocals) and Jack Black (drums) all of whom met at a T-shirt [...]
YOB are one of the two lucky bands who secured an opening slot on Tool's upcoming arena tour. It's quite a big deal for the band to play to a lot of people who probably never heard of them before. The band have now announced a few dates booked around the tour, to ease up ...
By Andrew Wilhelm (Denver)Yob reigned supreme over metal in 2011. The Eugene, Ore., trio has always been a cult favorite amongst doom-inclined metalheads, and in the past year, they've ascended to new levels. I put Atma, their most recent effort, as the No. 1 record of 2011, and for good reason. Yob got rawer on that record, which made them heavier even without some of the psychedelic touches
YOB released the "Atma" album via Profound Lore this year and now the band is happy to announce it will be direct support to Tool on an upcoming Jan/Feb North American tour. The currently announced dates are as follows (more to be announced soon): Jan 28 2012 - TD Garden - Boston, MA, USA Jan 29 2012 - Susquehanna Bank Center - Camden, NJ Jan ... Evil Bells aka Slay Bells by guitarstevecc asdff Tool have announced the opening acts for their string of winter 2012 dates... and it's wonky stoner-prog outfit Intronaut (as rumored) on the first half of the tour and doom metal titans Yob on the second half! It'd be easy enough for Tool to take out a [...]

by BBG Yob at Le Poisson Rouge ( more by BBG ) YOB , whose latest offering ATMA is one of my favorite releases of 2011 , will join Tool for a string of East Coast dates, including the NYC area stop on 2/1 at Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ . Tickets are still available . Full tour schedule is below. [...]
Time to make the noxious cloud of information smog even thicker! At least I'm telling you about awesome music you should be listening to, instead of giving you false empowerment through hackneyed optimistic sayings or trying to co-opt you into a political movement by saying you are JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. Or worse yet, using the internet to complain about how metal was better back in the 80s and

by BBG Voivod at Maryland Death Fest ( more by BBG ) We already knew that Voivod was in charge of curating part of the program, but the ante has been upped with the announcement that the influential Canadian band will play all of their seminal Dimension Hatross LP and that they've invited Yob to play the fest! What's more, Yob will play two complete albums in two different sets at Roadburn 2012 , including all [...]
You may not haven heard of Yob, even as a fan of doom you might not have known half of the bands on the line up for their show at the Purple Turtle on the 10th October 2011. That's because Dead Existence, Dark Castle, Kongh and Yob lie within the deepest and darkest recesses of ...

(CINICO MODE ON) Giusto, le rotture di coglioni è meglio levarsele subito(CINICO MODE OFF). Set devastante, bei suoni, peccato che la voce si sentisse poco e l'acustica dello [...]

An album that struck our writers so hard we had to review it twice! I'm glad the new Yob album is finally out so I can go on a doom metal diet. There's a lot of good doom out there but Yob blows just about everybody else out of the water. Their power, originality and ungodly heaviness is something to behold. Yob 's popularity has greatly increased the past few years and even the New York Times has raved about the band. When they came [...]
via WWTDD So much of this week ended up being devoted to the Big Four that I honestly don't wanna think about any of those bands again for at least the remainder of the year. So to wrap this shit up, here's everything Big Four-related we did this week: We live snarked the Big Four [...]
A veritable force within the pantheon of doom, the mighty YOB have recently unleashed their most focused album to date, Atma. Once again, they do not disappoint, offering the listener a soul-crushing, transcendental experience of balls-heavy doom/sludge. YOB possess that rare triple-threat quality of producing consistently excellent recordings, performing flawlessly live, and bringing forth an [...]
Banner Designed by Cysquatch Welcome to "Question of the Week," a (not really at all) weekly debate amongst the MetalSucks staff regarding a recent hot button issue. This week 's question was suggested to us by the reader known as "Cougar Party": WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE RIFF OF 2011 THUS FAR? The MS staff's answers [...]

As summer begins to wind down to a close (already?!), the number of new releases each week starts to increase gradually the closer we get to the Christmas holiday. Oh my God, we're seriously like only about four months away from Christmas - that's just nuts. Anyways, this is a great week for new [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe
Getting back into the flow of things this week we have a good number of new releases to listen to as we head out of the summer release season. New stuff from Yob, Chimaira, Revocation and Today Is The Day are probably the biggest releases this week, with some lesser-known gems in the herd as [...]
