If you don't know who Orange Goblin are, you're a damned fool. After almost 14 years together, you really ought to have seen them at least once. Maybe not. Read on then! What was your highlight of 2008? The Azkena Rock Festival in Spain and the Roadburn Festival in Holland What's the worst thing that happened to you in 2008? Didn't get to tour [...]

YOB sings to Profound Lore

YOB sings to Profound Lore The recently reunited YOB have signed to Profound Lore Records . The band is currently writing new material that Mike Scheidt calls the bands "heaviest and most epic" to date. One can imagine that the legal troubles surrounding Scheidt's last band Age Eternal (Middian) , would provide ample inspiration for some real soul tugging doom. YOB expect the record for the first half of 2009; you can expect us to keep you posted on any other news or tour dates.

AGE ETERNAL (MIDDIAN) break up; YOB Reunite, Prepare to Decimate Metal Fans Worldwide

Z Rock Trailer - IFC - Premieres Sunday, August 24 11:30pm
AGE ETERNAL (formerly MIDDIAN) have disbanded. Originally formed in 2005 by Mike Scheidt after Yob's breakup, Middian released their one and only album, Age Eternal, in 2006. The record expounded upon Yob's epic tranced-out dirges by experimenting with elements of pure doom and post-hardcore, and was greeted by an overwhelmingly positive response from sludgefreaks and [...]

YOB Reunite, New Song Available

YOB Reunite, New Song Available In the final tragic fall of Age Eternal , formally known as Middian, a reunion actually worth noting has come. Mike Schiedt and Travis Foster have decided to reunite as YOB . This is great news that everyone can enjoy, especially as the group already has a new demo on their myspace page . Black Bubblegum is reporting however, that part of the fall of Age Eternal was Mike Schiedt's desire to put an extreme limit on his touring duties, which means a YOB show may still be hard to come by. Meanwhile, Will from [...]

The Best and Most Offensive Christmas Song Of All Time: "C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S" by the Yobs

The Yobs were the alter-egos of The Boys. Having released an album and two singles on NEMS, they decided to rearrange the 'B' and 'Y' and became The Yobs for their Christmas 1977 single "Run Rudolph Run" c/w "Worm Song". Following the release of "Alternative Chartbusters" The Boys went into dispute with their record company and bootlegged themselves as The Yobs for their Christmas 1978 offering of "Silent Night" c/w "Stille Nacht". After signing for Safari in 1979 "Little Drummer Boy" was given The Yobs treatment and appeared as "Rub A Dum Dum" in time for Christmas. [...]

Yob - The Unreal Never Lived

Yob - The Unreal Never Lived For the last week of 2006, I'll highlight some bands that called it quits this year. I know my obsession with dead bands verges on the morbid, and if your band shows up in my blog, it's probably dead, starting out, or underperforming marketwise. But success ain't a meritocracy, and I'd rather give space to deserving artists who don't usually get it. Eugene, OR band Yob crushed me with their last two albums, then crushed me in January when they split up. It's tough in doom metal to strike a balance between heaviness and forward [...]
