Confused? Let me explain. If you haven't already heard, Yoko Ono will be releasing Yes, I'm A Witch in just a few short weeks, via Astralwerks. The album features collaborations with The Flaming Lips, Cat Power, Antony, Spiritualized, Peaches, Hank Shocklee, The Apples in Stereo, The Sleepy Jackson, and Le Tigre just to name a few. I gather the duets are part of her attempt to stay relevant, a la late '90s Santana (ps YOU'RE SO SMOOOOOTH!) Last week, we received in our inbox the Peaches/Yoko collaboration. Needless to say, we didn't share it with you [...]

It's another week chock-full of listening goodness. There's a couple releases that I had I expecations for and a few others here that are pleasant surprises. Playlist: New Releases 02.07.07 Here's a rundown of what's downloading into my Sansa as I type this: ----------------------- Album: Loney, Dear - Loney Noir I've been anticipating this one since the announcement late last year that Loney, Dear had [...]

I took today off work to enjoy a day-long snowfall, or possibly to avoid having to be outside in it. It's eight degrees. Yesterday was a tad colder. And yesterday, I had to walk to work at 6:30 in the morning -- before the sun had fully come up -- because the car wouldn't start. Then, I spent the afternoon removing the old battery and installing a new one. I think I've earned a day indoors. But that doesn't mean I'm going to snub our first legitimate snowfall of the winter by ignoring the view from my window. [...]

or who would you rather kiss? Yoko Ono feat. Peaches "Kiss Kiss Kiss" BREAKING-UP THE BEATLES BONUS: Yoko Ono "Walking On Thin Ice" ( a blog soup on point)

So this mp3 came in my inbox this morning. It's a new track by Yoko Ono, ft. Peaches. I'm kind of all set with Yoko, but Peaches is obviously pretty awesome. The mp3 is from a new album that Yoko recorded with a variety of different artists, and I streamed it at her site, it isn't so bad after all. The track is called Kiss Kiss Kiss, and you can stream the rest of the album, and/or pre-order it, at Yoko's site here. [...]
You've probably already heard that Yoko Ono's latest record, I Am Not A Witch , is collaboration project with a ton of different artists - an eclectic mix from Le Tigre to Cat Powers to Antony to The Sleepy Jackson. Each artist picked a track from Ono's back catalog and basically did a remix. This is a pretty exciting project even if you're not a fan of Ono... it's cool to hear different takes on these tracks. Peaches track sounds like a pretty decent Peaches mix - about what you would expect from her [...]

The words "completely different" seem woefully ineffective in describing Yoko Ono's collaboration with Peaches. Maybe something like "totally nuts," or "f'n insane" would work better. Any way you want to label it, here's what we have: a fresh version of a number from the Ono back catalog, re-imagined and unleashed as an oversexed, electro-ghetto boogie fantasy, that culminates in an ono-gasm. Yep, that sounds about right. Yoko One feat. Peaches - Kiss Kiss Kiss.mp3 Yoko Ono's, Yes I'm a Witch, will be out next Tuesday in the states and [...]
Yoko Ono and Le Tigre "Sisters O Sisters" - Though Yoko Ono is covering familiar ground in this collaboration, she ultimately sounds like she's a special guest on a song that could have easily fit on either of the last two Le Tigre albums. It's an inspired combination -- few living people represent the aesthetic of 60s progressive activism as completely as Ono, and Le Tigre made a career out of trying to revive it in a new context. Like a lot of their respective music, it contains a lot of protest language that may seem anachronistic, [...]
Police have apparently foiled an attempt to blackmail Yoko Ono by her driver. Koral Karsan apparently demanded two million bucks, or he was going to send photos of Yoko in her nightwear to the press. Never mind trying to get cash out of her, if the threat is "give me money or see Yoko in her jimjams", we'd happily put in a few quid. music yoko ono blackmail

Free Jazz and I are like oil and water: specifically, I'm the cheap rusty sludge coming from the faucet, and Free Jazz is the fancy aged European olive oil in a thick hand-crafted dark brown bottle. But in the Salad Bowl of Art-Damaged Free-Form Squealing, Patty Waters and I blend into a harmonius mixture of flavors, thanks to her notorious squawk-fest Black Is The Color Of My True Love's Hair . ...except that I like it. I also like you, blog reading public. I will now bring my likes together, like so. Love is All - "Kiss Kiss Kiss" (Yoko Ono cover) Love is All's kick ass Nine Times That Same Song album is clearly one of the finest that 2006 has coughed up. Its early year release date, and the fact that Pitchfork somehow bent time and space to put it on their 2005 Best of, [...]
Yoko Ono isn't planning on pursuing her claims against EMI-Capitol over allegations they short-paid Lennon royalties; the legal action she filed last week was merely a way of keeping her options open before claims evaporated under statute of limitations. In other words, she's not squeezing the label until their juices run, but merely parading around the kitchen showing them the Smoothie maker she could still plug in. music yoko ono john lennon the beatles
It's redistribution of a type, we suppose, as Yoko Ono attempts to get some ten million she reckons EMI owes her . Or, more accurately, the money she believes should have been paid to her husband. A spokeswoman for EMI/Capitol, Jeanne Meyer, would not discuss Ono's lawsuit specifically, but she said, "Artists from time to time request audits of their royalty accounts. Sometimes there are differences of opinion, which is understandable given the complex nature of recording contracts." Meyer said the contracts are sometimes subject to interpretation "but 99 times out of 100 [...]

Had he not moved to New York, and gotten himself shot, October 9th would have been his birthday. To celebrate herself ("this date"), Yoko Ono is going to award some cash Peace Prizes : The LennonOno Grant for Peace will give out two $50,000 prizes to the Medecins Sans Frontieres and the Centre for Constitutional Rights. In a statement Yoko Ono said: "These two groups look beyond today's conflicts and destruction and envision a positive future for our society, while working selflessly and tirelessly towards establishing a more peaceful environment for our planet.
