This album was always going to be good. You Animals rose from the ashes of Komakino after all, and found they didn't need many new songs because the foundations of their long, long, long-awaited album 'Crimes, Creeps & Thrills' had already been laid down. There's plenty of Komakino material on offer, but regardless of where it's all come from, it's what the album does that's remarkable. The Derby sextet have taken a no-frills indie-pop sound and injected it with more passion than you could shake a stick at. Songs such as 'Halfway to Heartbreak' (a [...]

MP3 : You Animals - " You Left Your Heart In The City "
You Animals formed out of the ashes of Komakino and are about to unleash their debut single "Halfway to Heartbreak." It's been years since we have last heard from these guys. I think if they re-recorded and reissued the Komakino track "Say Something" it would be a top 10 single today. "Halfway To Heartbreak" is [...]

You Animals - Halfway to Heartbreak I've been a fan of You Animals since their formation from the embers of Komakino . In fact, Komakino were the first band I ever interviewed and are some the nicest guys you're likely to meet. Frontman Ryan even contributed an interview himself back in the day. Finally, after what seems like an age, they are releasing their debut single through Fear & Records and the video for which can be [...]
You Animals - "Halfway To Heartbreak" Song of the summer contender...nevermind that the track isn't even released yet. Too bad you'll have to log on and watch the video everyday for a month - which is exactly what you'll want to do doing after hearing the track - until you can buy it, download it, and carry it with you wherever you go. The UK's You Animal s will release "Halfway To Heartbreak" via Fear and Records [...]
It's been a little over two years since I first introduced You Animals to the blogosphere. The band has been hard at work writing and recording since that time and has kindly allowed me the privilege of announcing the release of their debut single. If that weren't cool enough, they've also allowed us to share the flipside of the single with you! "Halfway To Heartbreak" will be released 13th July 2009 on Fear and Records. The single will be released as a limited Edition hand painted, signed and numbered 7" single which will also be available [...]

As we walk in to the 'Red Room' of The Royal, the first thing I notice is how busy it is, which is a pleasant surprise. The second thing I notice is that the band currently on stage don't appear to have a lead singer. Then I see him, right up on top of the speaker stack. That's an old trick for sure but not often performed by a band third on the bill. These are 'The Souvenirs' the first of two local bands playing tonight. I immediately think Eddie Argos and Art Brut; it's the way singer Dale Dawson [...]
Just a little preface to this: the town I live in sucks. The only music venue is the Victoria Inn, which is okay - but it's a pub first, and a music venue second. The last good musical act at the local theatre/hall thing (you know, the place they have second-string stand-up comics and clairvoyants) was The Magic Numbers (though they did get Huggy Bear to be in last year's pantomine). Luckily, the musical Gods have bestowed The Royal upon the people of Derby (after the sumbitches took away Reveal Records. Grr.). And, playing on the [...]
