Stereogum I've credited this week's selection to Vancouver's You Say Party! rather than their former monicker of out of deference for their reasons for dropping the second half of their original name and in the interests of staying current as they prepare to make their live comeback later this week, returning from their year-and-a-half hiatus. They were still You Say Party! We Say Die! in 2007 when they contributed a track to the Stereogum-compiled Drive XV , a tribute album to mark the 15th anniversary of R.E.M.'s seminal [...]

Although Abbotsford was once the murder capital of Canada, within its geographical confines rests a slew of up-and-coming musical talent. For example, over the past twelve months we’ve seen Oh No! Yoko rise from high school band class to the top of Winnie Cooper’s favorite albums of 2011. And I’m fairly certain that the Real Boys will be the next big thing to come out of the Fraser Valley. Real Boys are a rock-pop supergroup that features members from You Say Party! We Say Die!, On No! Yoko, and GSTS! Their self-titled debut EP was released in [...]

This list of musicians who we lost this year is by no means definitive, and is entirely dependent on my faulty memory (other than birth and death dates, which came from Wikipedia - I'm not that good). It's List Addicts Friday time - and today's topic is high school crushes and unrequited love. Why? Just because I'm in the mood for it and these two always go together. High school has always been a memorable time for me - not because of the nice memories I've shared with my high school friends, but because of all the heartache, heartbreak and the tramautic experiences I've had dealing with members of the opposite sex. Despite the good intentions of the strict nuns at my high school, and my loving, yet overprotective father, I wasn't prepared to deal [...]
