Ohio natives Kevin Bayer and Yusef Quotah are an electronic audio-visual collaboration that releases music under the name You, You're Awesome . What makes this project so special is the duo's ability to combine analog/digital synths, with the sounds of videos games, and LIVE drums. After recording three six-song EPs over the last few years, You, You're Awesome are releasing their debut LP, Good Point, Whoever Said That , for FREE! To give you a taste of what YYA's debut has to offer, we have included the opening track "She Appears All The [...]

Christmas came early for football fans here in town. I feel kind of bad relishing in the misery of others, but Josh McDaniels made his own grave, and subsequently, he has gone from Denver to lie in it. They say it was because he had too much say/power in all aspects of the team. I wonder how he would've done if he had only spent his time drawing up x's and o's, instead of making bad personnel decisions. One thing I do know, is that any change is an immediate improvement. Thank God the [...]

2010 has already been a busy year for Cincinnati based electronic due You, You're Awesome , and it's about to get busier. With a successful SXSW and a new EP already in their rearview, the pair are ready to take on whatever comes their way in the coming months. First order of business, remix The Answering Machine . If you are not already familiar with TAM, shame on you, they put out one of the better debut records we heard last year and hail from the UK. YYA remixed one of their songs last [...]

Every year, WOXY hunkers down for SXSW in the studio and records live sessions with a slew of our favorite bands. This year is special, though. It's our first year as Austin residents, and our first year with a fantastic space that is all ours - and you can bet we've thrown our hearts and minds completely into planning this year's SXSW Lounge Acts. We're also offering something completely new and special to our listeners. Together with Home Slice Pizza and Sweet Leaf Tea , we're giving some listeners the unique opportunity to join [...]

The biggest and best adjustment I've had to make moving to Cincinnati has been the local scene. It's no secret that when I moved to Chicago, the one thing I was most looking forward to was a great base of local talent, bands on the verge so to speak. I soon learned that while Chicago has a ton of big name bands traveling through, sweet Chicago based bands were few and far between. That isn't to say there weren't any, of course. Currently recording their debut full length, Chicago boys Archie Powell and the Exports are friends of the Hot [...]

If you haven't heard, Sia Isobelle Kate Furler or 'Sia' has an upcoming album called We Are Born to be released on 2010 and will be working with Christina Aguilera. You might also find her voice familiar, as she was featured in the new 2010 Lincoln MKT commercial. Also recently, after watching Annie, Sia decided to open up her laptop, load up music program garageband and sang her own version of the track Tomorrow from the classic musical. And I just had to say, thes covers holds promising for the new album. :: [...]

Addled - Where am I? Gucci Vump - Sha! Shtil! (Sticky Stockholm remix) [...]

In case you haven't been tuned in to your music blogs of late, New York's well-known CMJ music festival took place last week, allowing the current buzz bands their time to shine and make their names known. The wonderful blog I Guess I'm Floating has taken a liking to CMJ up-and-comers You, You're Awesome, and PMA thinks you might like them too. Primarily an instrumental band, You, You're Awesome has two electronic jams that might be your thing, or might not. The first, "I'm Deaf and You're Boring," basically takes Death Cab For Cutie's [...]

After reading tweet upon tweet of friends running around New York for CMJ last week, I almost wondered if there was a bad band to be found in the Big Apple. Perhaps everyone was seriously "killing it" , or the power of ambitious live music and a few adult beverages made the experience all the better. It definitely doesn't hurt and makes dancing far easier, something that is common practice for the live shows of You, You're Awesome . Having just finished up playing CMJ themselves, this electronic/atari/real drum duo actually hail from my [...]

They might not fit into a convenient theory, but Cincinnati's Bad Veins haven't wasted much time since their formation in 2006: Even before their self titled debut album appeared on Danger Bird Records July 21st, they were already dropping jaws from the LA scene to CMJ. Vocalist/guitarist Benjamin Davis and drummer Sebastien Schultz practice a tense, stylish brand of rock not heard in this kind of genuine fashion in a long time. With lyrical left turns that recall classic Bowie, the band embraces deep creativity without sounding pretentious. With their unstoppable live shows (which [...]

I have been to Forecastle a few times over the years to see great bands like The Shipping News, or Girl Talk, or Tortoise. It's been growing and growing every year, and with undoubtedly it's biggest offering yet, I got to be a part of it in a new way. My band Chemic was selected to play at this year's fest and that of course is exciting, but even more exciting than that was getting to see some of the best up and coming bands from all over the country, and it just so happened that some [...]
Coltrane Motion - How To Be (You You're Awesome Mix) Earlier this year, YYA reinterpreted Radiohead's 'Reckoner'. Visit Coltrane Motion at their official site. MP3: Coltrane Motion - How To Be (You You're Awesome Mix)

Cincinnati's You, You're Awesome will be playing this year's Forecastle Festival. On the heels of releasing their second EP, You're My Superhero , these guys have been building a large local following in the Cincinnati area and are finally coming to visit us in Louisville. Actually, you can get a preview by catching them with Chemic at The Rudyard Kipling on June 11th. Think experimental electro nic rock music, so not that ravey house crap, but instead fun beats and really strange overdubs. Check out the previews below... [...]
You You're Awesome - For The Queen The band's new EP, You're My Superhero, is out now. Visit YYA at their official site. MP3: You You're Awesome - For The Queen
You, You're Awesome have a pretty awesome band name. They hail from Cincinnati, Ohio and play very fun experimental electronic that is just a blast to listen to. They recently released a 6 song EP called "You're My Superhero" and it is the bomb! It sounds like a soundtrack to a insane trip through outer space and beyond. These songs are both electrifying and almost relaxing. Their is never a dull moment with the EP. I highly recommend picking up a copy . [mp3] : You, You're Awesome - I'm Deaf [...]
