THEESatisfaction By Russell Warfield April 24, 2012 You'll have to forgive this review for failing to get beyond the fact that THEESatisfaction – the slinky duo whose recent LP gave a much needed injection of old school spirit and soul into traditionalist black music – play their live shows from a fucking backing tape . In one fell swoop, all the soul is drained from this music – a hollow husk of a laptop in the shadows of where the horn section should be grooving, [...]
UK trio Young Fathers drops a new track via its YouTube channel, heading further in the direction charted by Tape One , which I gave a glowing review to earlier this year. "Way Down In the Hole" features a shimmering, soulful into that quickly durns into something dark and dirty just before a few icy rap verses come into play. Lots of intensity and character.

Young Fathers' debut tape, Tape One , is as pretty fun, freaky, and lo-fi mix of hip hop. African music, and reggae. Though the release is only 20 minutes long, these tracks make up for it with lots of personality and catchy hooks. WATCH THE REVIEW
TAPE ONE by Young Fathers For a group that states "nothing is original" in its first music video, Young Fathers certainly is, well, original. Of course I know the point the UK trio-uh, I think it's a trio-is trying to make. Still, the blend of hip hop, African music, lo-fi, noise, and electronics the group brings together feels really fresh-not to mention each member showcases some pretty great flows and lyrics. Check out the group's video for the track "Rumbling" below, and stream Tape One above. It's downloadable here , too. [...]

After being urged by a friend to check out Young Fathers at the Old Blue in the tail end of last year, the band have become an act I've been increasingly fascinated by. Placed tenuously between the sounds of The Very Best and TV On the Radio, the band proceed to make some of the most invigorating and culturally ambiguous beat pop I've heard for some time. The live performance that spurred such aggressive feelings was one of my favourites of last year; the beats sounded amazing live and the whole thing had a rather bizarre [...]
Nigerian bass heavy hip hop sounds from a group with over a decade of together. The single was released late December 2011. We never heard of them until now but you know it's a sound that could crossover. If you like you beats sanitised then check it out. Not sure if this will be their breakthrough track but you never know.
Tweet Listen to and download Young Fathers ' new free mixtape "Tape One" below. From what I've heard so far, which to be honest is not a whole lot, I'm not a fan of the Hip-Hop that I've heard coming from my home country of Scotland, with one exception. Young Fathers are a three-piece from Edinburgh that we posted about back in December of 2010 , and [...]

![[Listen/Download] – Young Fathers – "Fevers Worse" (LuckyMe/Blessings Remix)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3024046_lg.jpg)
Young Fathers are a hip-hop three piece from Edinburgh that produce music that sounds like it should never have come out of Scotland. Branding it "Superpop", it is a blend of electronica, hip-hop, dub and indie sensibilities that has made for some very fine singles over the past two years. This week sees the release of their new single, "Fevers Worse" , which has been given the remix treatment by hip Glasgow based LuckyMe founders, Blessings. The result is a driving, glitchy, dark and percussive track that could set hipsters all a-shuffle on almost any dancefloor around. [...]
The British rap game has been bubbling bubbling bubbling for quite some time, mainstreaming with The Streets and Dizzee Rascal but also offering up some lesser-known quality: Kano, The Mitchell Brothers, Sway. As is to be expected, Wikipedia documents the growth of Great Britain's hip-hop history more comprehensively than I ever could. But things are happening across the pond, things with serious transatlantic potential, and their names are noticeably absent from Wikipedia's list: Tinie Tempah, a Vacay-inspiring son of the grime scene, and Young Fathers, a self-described "glorious mess combining rap, pop, dub, electronic and incidental sounds."
