Here is my Lollapalooza 2011 experience in photo, word, and audio. Friday: Wye Oak : Maybe the best album of the year, but technical difficulties led to disappointment. First show of the first day and Grant Park already smelled like weed, Cheetos, and crap. Young The Giant : Despite the early spot this Irvine, CA band put everything they had into their set. Even the Coldplay fans already holding their spot had to move their feet. [...]
Watch covers performed at Lollapalooza by Foo Fighters, Lykke Li, Coldplay, Foster the People, Ween, A Perfect Circle, The Vaccines, Lissie, Patrich Stump, and more!
We tripped across this little nugget over on the YouTubes today. A live vid of one of our favorite current bands, covering one of our all time classic faves, live in Paris, in April 2011. This is Crocodiles performing The Velvet Underground's I'm Not A Young Man Anymore. Rad.
It’s hard to believe (especially for those of us that are getting a little long in the tooth) but Lollapalooza is turning 20 this weekend, meaning it’s now older than many of the young whippersnappers who will be in attendance. The internet is replete with timelines, reminiscences, and other assorted ...
It’s finally Friday and, here at The Orchard, that means FREE tunes! Lucky for you, we’re nice enough to share. So let this installation of Freeloader Friday get you through those last few hours of the workday and let the weekend begin! This week we have tracks from Young Man, ...
It's Lollapalooza time again in the fine city of Chicago. We'll be there checking out the following bands and think you should too. Young the Giant – 1:00PM – Bud Light Stage With stadium-sized, anthemic songs like “My Body”, Young the Giant are sure to bring the rock early at this year’s Lolla. If that’s not your kind of thing, though, their softer edge is equally impressive with more melancholic tunes fit for swaying. [...]
If you were like me and weren't all too impressed by Panda Bears latest effort, here's something that might be down your alley. I've posted about Young Man before and the similarities between his and Noah Lennox's work is hard to ignore. Young Man released his debut album Boy early last year, and now he's back with it's follow-up, "Ideas of Distance" . You can preview "Enough" , a new song from the album above. Ideas of [...]

There are a handful of artists IGIF's been in love with for a long time, Young Man being one of our "firsts" the same fond way you may look back on a high school sweetheart. That's how our infatuation with Young Man started, with Connor and I both in college when he stumbled upon a YouTube channel featuring thoughtful covers by Colin Caulfield. Some original releases, blog love, and stellar live shows later Young Man was signed to Frenchkiss Records working on his studio bedroom recorded full length Ideas of Distance [...]
recently we got the YOUNG MAN for some fun. if you get me etc et c. and the he-folker has unleashed his simply beautiful new ENOUGH video. audibly spot on. and we're off the BARCLAYS phone. wotyougot
Watch 'Enough' below. Young Man recently recorded a Daytrotter session. Click here to view the embedded video. MP3: Young Man - Five

Tweet There was a time when I could remember every song featured on this blog, but no more. Might be a result of archives going back to September 2005 or it could be just plain old (!) agedness. How else could you explain having to double check whether Young Man had appeared here before. And he had, only a few months back – feck that is worrying. Well anyway, we've fallen for his twee delights all over again. Some chancer to try [...]

Just stocking up on some mellow tunes before the weekend. I am looking down the barrel at a couple of days of spring cleaning...YEAH! What better way to get into the spirit then to have some music to help numb the pain. I'll hit you with some more upbeat stuff in a bit here... Free mp3: Patrick Wolf - The City Free mp3: Eureka Birds - Cactus Man Free mp3: Young Man - Home [...]

Tripping across the rad VU cover we just posted by The Kills, got us itching for the real thing. Somehow this song seemed appropriate. Take a listen to the track I'm Not A Young Man Anymore from the 1967 bootleg, Live At The Gymnasium, from the one... the only... The Velvet Underground. The Velvet Underground; I'm Not A Young Man Anymore (Live)
If the Boy Least Likely To had not lived up to his name, after such a promising start, and instead immersed himself in records from Fleet Foxes and Panda Bear he could have ended up sounding like Young Man. Colin Caulfield runs the show and already counts Bradford Cox as a rabid fan, in truth there should be many more besides. His 'Boy' EP came out last year on Frenchkiss Records and what a passionate smacker it proved to be. Bedroom electronica is ripe for poking fun at but Young Man proves that the recording location is incidental when there [...]
Just loved Young Man - Heart Of Chambers (Beach House Cover) http://su.pr/2J6iSX on @hypem

When these two collaborate, you know you're in trouble. ' Tear It Out ' is the new single from Youngman and is produced by none other than Benga . The two seem to be proving themselves as quite the duo as of late. Ever since they dropped ' Ho / One & Only ' back in September of last year, the pair have gone on to further forge their relationship the only way they know, by adding some more impressive tracks to their repertoire. Released via Digital Soundboy the video was filmed on tour to Stockholm [...]

Check out Colin Caulfield (aka Young Man) being interviewed on AOL's Spinner. You can also see his interface performance here . Here debut full-length album will be released on Frenchkiss Records this summer.

Next month marks the return of the Basildon boys with Remixes 2:81-11 , aka yet another collection of rather mediocre reworkings of their classic tracks (at least in my opinion). The lead single is today's featured track, Personal Jesus , from 1990's Violator , but what most people are eagerly awaiting for are the exclusive remixes by former band members Vince Clarke and Alan Wilder - the first time either artist has remixed tracks for their former colleagues. If Depeche Mode are not your cup of [...]

Yes, the lineup has been released , but that doesn't mean there's more to talk about concerning this year's installment of Lollapalooza. First, one interesting little tidbit from the Trib's Greg Kot , is that this year's Lollapalooza will feature an expanded DJ/electronic music area - otherwise known as Perry's Stage. According to Kot, Perry's Stage will be moved west of Columbus Drive, just across from the festival's main stage on the south end of Hutchinson Field. This new Perry's Stage will be tented with a [...]
