London based label Thisisnotanexit has been steadily gaining ground over the last few years with its genre-defying collection of releases, and have finally gotten round to releasing a proper label compilation. TINAE has been compared in the past to Italians Do It Better, most well known for its high class nu-disco acts, and it would be easy to describe the material they release as being in the same vein, but most of the music they release is something else entirely, often treading the edges of the surreal, whether it be the otherwordly kosmiche of Brain Machine , [...]
Forward thinking alternative electronic label THISISNOTANEXIT , home to act as diverse as the raw Electro-Punky Detachments and Canadian ElectroPop geniuses Parallels, have just dropped their premiere label compilation. As the title, 'THISISNOTANEXIT – Manifesto #1', suggests it's more than a collection of artists, it's a proclamation of what the label stands for. The combination of sonic experiments and quality pop music (in the best possible way) seems to define the artists on THISISNOTANEXIT, on the album you get ambient acid soundscapes from Brain Machine alongside the instrumental Bedroom pop of Professor Genius, the Nu-Disco [...]

Christmas and new years has been awesome. Now when reality is screaming for some attention it's always nice to have an inbox filled with new stuff to manage the escape from it all. Up first is some totally great and mellow stuff from Vancouver solo act Young Monday . Doesn't the intro on A Written Description remind you a lot of the theme music in A Clockwork Orange ? Sure does to me. Anyways, go get him some myspace love! There're a few really nice tunes there you'd be sorry to miss [...]

I got these song from the kind Sir over at Okey Dokey , anyway, if Kraftwerk managed to melt together with 80's New Order they would sound close to this. This is so 80's synth, I frickin' love it. They even managed to get some of them "robotic" sounds in there, you know those random blip-blop sounds? It's Young Monday y'all. This is really atmospherical! I'm in space floating naked, with 3D-glasses on and suddenly I have shoulderpads. And as soon as I look away I'm in a old warehouse, searching.. Searching for vintage synths. [...]
Our Berlin homeboy and favorite Ableton Dj, okeydokey sent this artist through the inbox called Young Monday along with some free phat tracks to give out. Now there is not much known about Young Monday, but from what we heard on his player....very Italo Disco! Check it out for yourself! Download the Zipped files (256 Kbps respectively) Thanks to okey dokey........speaking of which,

Hatchback - White Diamond (2007) Young Monday - Zaire (2008) Soft Cell - ...So (1984) Professor Genius - Pegaso (2007) Giorgio Moroder - The Chase [...]

Hailing from the West coast of Canada, Young Monday have whipped up, dare i say, an absolutely gorgeous and ... thoughtful (i can't think of a better word) track that could be used on the soundtrack of "The Making of Kubrick's 2001 " if such a documentary were ever to be made. Or, put another way (if i was getting paid per usage of the letter 'S') i would say it's a slow but not stagnant siren song of Solaris - I totally could see being transfixed by this tune as I'm being sucked lower [...]
When it rains, it pours. So… it's almost 1:00 am and I figured that I might as well keep going. Right now, Autumn is in Europe and I believe she gets back to the States on Monday. Before her arrival, I wanted to post a new mix and get some of your thoughts. FYI - Some of the songs in this mix are from prior posts. Here's to Autumn's safe trip back home! We've all missed you! Alan Parsons Project – Be Like You (The Twelves Remix) [mp3] [...]
OK...today I'm going to be lazy and post a mix of jams that my main man, Johnny, and I have been listening to over the last month. Some old... some new... enjoy! Albert Hammond Jr. - GfC (mp3) Andy Mullen - Quit Quitin' (mp3) Andy Mullen - Stream Of Consciousness (mp3) Benji Hughes - The Mummy (mp3) Benji Hughes - You Stood Me Up (mp3) Black Kids - Hurricane Jane (The Twelves Remix) (mp3) [...]

as my flatmate uses to say: 'disco is over'. well, how could one be so wrong, as none of the hipster new rave stuff she and the rest of the wasted german youth likes so much delivers stories as this one: ian lanterman , a canadian whose name is taken from a 70s japanese porn magazine sits in his apartment making music that reminds one of bath robes and cheap aftershave, inspired by b-movies as "rolf, the last mercenary" or the soundtrack of "les 7 jours de janvier" , a film written by javier bardem's [...]
