Though I had heard of CLLCT , "a lovely free music community", previously, I didn't get to browsing around it until Tim from Your Yellow Dress passed along the link to their album located on the site (as well as on Last.fm ), Orange County, We're Nothing at All Like the Shows . All music part of CLLCT, at the time of this article totaling 1,700+ releases and nearly 1,000 artists, falls under the Creative Commons Attribution Non-commercial No Derivatives (by-nc-nd) License . Thanks to Indiemuse , I have found the product of smashing Juno and M.I.A. together repeatedly. It's a cover of Paper Planes by Your Yellow Dress. This is a folky and more playful version of the song, and by the end, you can't even recognize the original tune. I love how they actually say bang bang and kaching instead of having the actual gun/money sounds. Overall, it's nothing major but just cute and playful (like the Juno soundtrack). - The Arcade Fire's cover of "Born A Train" was featured in Part Three . Here they are again with a version of "All The Umbrellas In London" from a concert in Tokyo: The Arcade Fire - All The Umbrellas In London (Live) - A couple other live covers: Ben Gibbard - The Saddest Story Ever Told (Live) Kings of Convenience - The Luckiest Guy On The Lower East Side (Live) - "The Book Of Love" is nowhere [...]

I'll admit that I don't actively seek out cover songs, so this award may be completely unwarranted for all I know, but this cover of Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" by Orba Squara wins the best "Cover of the Year" in my book. It's amazing. Your Yellow Dress' cover of MIA's "Paper Planes" comes in a very close second. Orba Squara - Poker Face (Lady Gaga cover) Your Yellow Dress - Paper Planes (MIA cover) Are there any other covers I should check out? I'll be doing [...]

Your Yellow Dress Genre: Pop / Folk / Electroacoustic From: Berkeley/Orange County, CA, California, United States Short but sweet one to end the day as it's way past my bedtime and the only reason I've not yet reached the land of nod is due to a mini crisis over some missing tickets for Morrissey's concert at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. Don't worry, after much searching the house and sifting through bags of rotting [...]

Oh sweet merciful Christ and--oh wait, this is actually a really good compilation. Can you believe it? We couldn't at first, seeing as how covers most times make us cringe, but we've seen the light. Stephen Merritt would be so proud of all of the artists who've gone ahead and paid tribute to him in this endearing, outright astounding mixtape. Tell me you couldn't fall in love with this project and we'd call you a liar. Tracklist: 01 Monica y Carlos - [...]
