Idaho man Youth Lagoon has announced a series of UK dates for later this summer. The musician, real name Trevor Powers, recently released his new album Wondrous Bughouse via Fat Possum/Turnstile - the follow-up to 2011 debut The Year of Hibernation . Fresh off an evocative and bemusing run at SXSW , digi-pop balladeer Devon Welsh (aka Majical Cloudz ) has announced his Matador Records debut, Impersonator , due out May 27th. According to a press release, the 10-track album's "expressive power and swagger belie its extremely minimal music. These are intensely lyrical songs about death, patience, family, friendship, and desire, with Welsh’s rich vocals atop quiet looped waves of white noise, filtered synths and sparse thuds." SGP organisers this morning announced some exciting additions to their line-up that included the likes of songstress Regina Spektor and dream-popper Youth Lagoon. Alongside them, 405 favourite Jamie N Commons and Willy Mason will also feature at the four-day festival this July (25th-28th). The new announcements take their place in a line-up that is quickly shaping up to being one of the best on this summer's circuit thus far with the likes of Soulwax, Django Django and Luke Sital-Singh already confirmed. Here are some quick thoughts on other SXSW acts I saw. DIIV, Mohawk Lounge - These guys had a rather long sound check and their shoegazey-distorted indied rock sound didn't really do much for me. I found out later that they had been moved from Red Eye Fly so that the Polyphonic Spree can have a two hour set. Anytime you are an up and coming band that gets moved from one venue to another in favorite of a cult-twee band, you have a right to be upset and thrown off your game, I guess. [...]
