Yuck - Chew Now Playing – twice every week, a roundtable of our writers will give their views on some of the recently-released new tracks. It’s as simple as that! If you want to tell us what you think of the song, feel free to leave a comment below. Track: ‘Chew’ by Yuck Average grade: 5.5 James: Was a bit worried Yuck were a bit of a one trick [...]

Yuck rocked our faces off this past weekend at Coachella but we couldn't keep our eyes off bassist and Parakeet side project front woman Mariko Doi. The duo have released their 73 single ' Tomorrow ' and have also included a b-side 'Paper, Scissors, Stone which you can stream below. Anything Yuck related is a good thing, trust us. Parakeet - Paper, Scissors, Stone
Wednesday's shows — are we spoiled, or what? ► Tonight is about all things Miike Snow . The Swedish/American indie-pop mind-meld of Christian Karlsson, Pontus Winnberg and Andrew Wyatt is riding high after the late-March release of their second album, the eclectic "Happy to You," and their set Saturday night at Coachella was bonkers. They do the second of two sold-out midweek shows tonight at the El Rey Theatre, supported by Wolf Gang. Meanwhile, Miike Snow's strange video for "The Wave" might pique your interest; it continues a narrative started in the video for [...]

>> Rejoice, indie rockers, for Yuck have returned. And, no, not with a re-re-reissue of its exceptionally strong self-titled debut, which was first released in the US in February 2011 and then again in September 2011 , but with the new tune "Chew." The mid-tempo anthem shows the band embracing a heavier, denser sound that at times nods affirmatively in the direction of Smashing Pumpkins and My Bloody Valentine . "Chew" is a perceptible step forward for Yuck , and living with the London-based quartet's debut for so long makes the [...]

This is the final installment of "All The Bands We Loved Before", where I share with you Coachella "previews" by reminding you about bands we've already written about in blogs past. Weekend 1 of Coachella has concluded. Most acts could be seen live via streaming, and many more could be re-broadcast through Coachella's YouTube channel. This tool has been totally invaluable in helping us decide who to see when we venture out for weekend 2. One of the tough decisions is skipping Arctic Monkeys . Yep. And even though Mookie [...]

Shoegaze grunge rockers Yuck who provided our best album of last year , have surfaced a new single 'Chew' for your listening pleasure and we're thrilled the collective are back. Not sure if a new project is in the works but this new tune will hold us off until then. Enjoy the track below. Yuck - Chew

Our San Diego picks for the week* // Follow Owl and Bear on Facebook and Twitter for contests, MP3s, and links that don't make it onto the blog.
Monday, April 16, 2012 Today's Quick Mention: There's not a lot worth catching tonight, but if you do decide to get out you could head to 29th Street Ballroom for the Wolf, Shivery Shakes, Sexploits, and Unknown Relatives. These songs should make your Monday better. Enjoy. : The Memories - Softly : I think this might be the quickest two minute track I've come across in a long time. It starts, I get wrapped [...]
Yuck is trapped in the early '90s. It's as if their TVs only show vintage episodes of 120 Minutes , their local book store only carries issues of Alternative Press and CMJ from 1991, and the record store carries CDs and cassettes released between 1989 and 1993. After last year's amazing self-titled homage to Dinosaur Jr , Pavement , Superchunk , Yo La Tengo , Teenage Fanclub , etc., etc., they've now apparently moved to (or taken a slight [...]

Here is the fifth instalment of Friday's Finest, ran in tandem with 'Slate The Disco' , this week we check out bands from all areas of the Indie music world! It's All Indie: Futures – Swim Teams This was the week when Futures left their label, and after that they went and released a new single straight after the initial announcement. This is a pure acoustic master-class from the band and gives us a slight taste of what the impending album will [...]
Note: Due to technical difficulties, photos of ALL these bands will come later. Is Indio becoming Seattle, and Coachella becoming Bumbershoot? Except, you know, without the umbrellas, because Coachella has a policy of not letting people bring umbrellas? Yesterday was a cold, rainy, miserable day, which after the hot temperatures of years past was actually one of the nicest ways I’ve experienced a day of Coachella. After wrangling with the surprisingly nice people at the Media Check-in, I showed up just shy of 1 p.m., where I discovered I had missed [...]

Who: Yuck at the Outdoor Theatre In 3 or Fewer Words: Not exactly gross. Forgettable because: Yuck not only followed a powerful set from the Dear Hunter, but their live set kind of got lost in the stiff headwind the quartet faced. For a band who offered one of the most catchiest shoegaze-influenced noise rock albums of 2011, this four-piece failed to translate their energy on record to the stage. The set featured the best bulk of their record but lead vocalist and guitarist Daniel Blumberg's stoicism came [...]
Cannot wait to see Richard Buckner tonight at Brick & Mortar Music Hall . He's supposed to be playin' both old and new stuff. Check out his latest beauty below. Plus a few other band's new tracks to add to your shopping list. Enjoy thoroughly. Yuck "Chew" [ follow ] Francisco The Man "Broken Arrows" [ follow ] from Broken Arrows Richard Buckner "Willow" [ follow ] Beachwood Sparks "Forget the Song" [ follow ] [...]
Here's a crunchy little number from Yuck called Chew , a song the band said it would play at Coachella today. Check it out here:

This week offered up a bunch of satisfying singles, so it was a little more challenging than usual to sift through it all and come up with just 10 favorites. However, we think we done good with the following selections, what with it featuring everyone from Aesop Rock to Yuck to Frank Ocean. Until next time, enjoy. A Place to Bury Strangers - "Burning Plastic" When tragic things happen, society takes to art. Brooklyn-based label Famous Class is doing just that with their new 73 series, honoring their recently passed [...]

Last night a brand new Yuck track was debuted on British Radio and moments later it hit the web, naturally. The UK band released their brilliant self-titled album last year and this is the first new material we've had from them in a while and it sounds very promising. Not that we thought it wouldn't! The track is titled "Chew" and is packed to the rafters with filthy guitar lines and great sounding vocals layered perfectly to keep you coming back for more. The band even told fans: Ok, here it is! [...]

Facebook Or perhaps that should read, "Vikings coming, Vikings coming", seeing as how the last few days have seen a flurry of excellent concert announcements from Scandinavian bands. Not the biggest but certainly of interest is the return of barely out of their teens if even that Danish post-punks Iceage . Their debut New Brigade was as intense as it was brief - not even 25 minutes to get through a dozen tracks - but with enough melodic sensibility to appeal to those who need a little melodicism [...]
