Ummagma’s eclectic yet harmonious potpourri of alt pop, dreampop, post-rock, post-punk, ambient/ethereal, shoegaze and space rock brings sublime resonance, beats and rhythm to create a virtual dream pop rock haven. McLarnon’s delicate airy gossamer-like vocals often draw comparisons to Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins fame with glimmers of Stereolab, The Sundays, SPC ECO, Nathalie Merchant and Slowdive. Kretov's spellbinding potion of guitar, vocals, synths, beats, programming & effects create an impeccable Floydish Fripp-laced soundscape that helps the listener take flight". [...]

Hallo Holland, Canada hier.
[[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Tweetvaso link Dave talked about British Columbia's Yukon Blonde in August of last year after seeing a video of theirs on Subterranean; as it turns out, the songs Dave talked about were from the band's debut full length release under the Yukon Blonde moniker. Well, the band is back in 2011 with a new four-song...
Mining in Yukon - 'Maybe June' Describing their sound as awesome pop, Tromsø based Mining in Yukon have just released the new single ‘Maybe June’ from their upcoming EP. Already been played and recommended on Norwegian radio channel P3, Mining in Yukon have a good melodious indie sound that easily can turn into something even [...]
Greetings from the home of Steve Miller, Orson Welles and Ed Gein, and the new wave in politics: recall elections. Been really busy with the film project and other activities of late. We're getting ready for recall season once again in Wisconsin, and we had another Occupy Milwaukee demonstration this weekend. The date is approaching when we begin gathering signatures for a recall of Governor Scott Walker, the point man in the Tea Party, Koch brothers-fueled attack on wo...
Originally hailing from the Yukon and now recognized across Canada as cultural ambassadors The Root Sellers create a unique blend of beats and sampled sound taken from the diverse areas they travel in the world. Last year they were shortlisted for a Breakspoll award on a collaboration with PAL big cheese Myagi for 'Rock One' and recently they've been featured at the Beijing and Vancouver Olympics and have just come off a 2 month tour showcasing their gypsy-glitch sound at coast to coast dates that included Shambhala Music Festival, Evolve Music Festival, and Burning Man. I've been following Yukon Blonde for a few years now and they've just released a nifty little EP called Fire/Water. It's a handful of awesome tunes in the vein of My Morning Jacket or Band Of Horses but so much nicer harmonies. Check out this great video for the track "Water". Makes me thirsty. Stumble This Post
Click here to view the video on YouTube. Check out Canada’s Yukon Blonde video for their track "Water" from their recently released Fire//Water EP on Dine Alone Records. Similar to their track "Fire" its a refreshing classic rock style tune with harmonies that are awe-inspiring. The video is remarkably beautiful, and tells the tale of a group of western travelers one of whom is on the wrong end of an arrow. Check it out, and grab the Fire // Water EP. Buy Fire//Water

" Now this Canuck's gonna beat on you like the drummer from Yukon Blonde hopped up on TimBits ." Like many others, I did a double take when I heard the soaring harmonies and 602s sunshine rock of Yukon Blond mentioned alongside other easy Hoser reference points like Justin Bieber, putine and Gretzky during last night's How I Met Your Mother . If you spent any time with the band's self-titled debut, you know they deserve any and all attention they receive, I just had no idea they had reached that [...]

Moving is the worst, but for some reason I have decided to do it five times in the last two years. Oh well. This ought to ease the stress of yet another move. It's the harmony-laden rocker "Water" by Yukon Blonde , the second sort-of title track from the new Fire//Water EP. Watch the video below, and don't be surprised if you start feeling slightly thirsty. I interviewed the band for Exclaim! and reviewed the EP for the Georgia Straight .
