Les Cox (Sportifs) don't sound like they just released an album last week. They sound like they could have been born in the late 702s post punk scene. Their dissident noise accented by choppy rhythms, minimal crunchy guitar and Christopher Rollen's heavy accent makes me believe that they are the rightful heirs to the stolen chalice of arty lo-fi art school pop that Yummy Fur snagged from the Fall , Fire Engines and the first Modern Lovers record. Scheiß Mit Reis is the first full length [...]

Truth be told, most reunions shows usually suck. Who wants to watch some oldster relive former glories while dipshit kids sing along to lyrics that they weren't out of diapers for the first time around? Yet this is hardly a steadfast rule, and I am happy to report the exception was the Yummy Fur's glorious reunion show on Sunday night at Part Time Punks.

The Yummy Fur, the delightfully skuzzy Glasgow indie-pop band, didn't make it across the ocean in their initial 1992-1999 run; college radio love never quite did buy anybody a plane ticket, either... Continue reading "The Yummy Fur Are Reuniting, Playing Newish DIY Venue 171 Lombardy" >
Yummy Fur have reunited for a handful of shows! Yummy Fur was a Glasgow, Scotland based band who formed in the mid-90's. They were the brainchild of singer/songwriter John McKeown. If the band sounded like anyone, it was fellow Glaswegians, Lung Leg . YF had treble-y and angular guitar lines (more spaghetti western than post-punk), unabashed accents, pulp and pop references, pervert-leanings, and most definitely dance hooks. Check out their MySpace page for tour dates and don't miss the [...]
You might not recognize the name The Yummy Fur , but surely you've heard of its members. During its eight year existence from 1992-1999, the U.K. based outfit featured now 1990s frontman John [Jackie] McKeown as well as Franz Ferdinand drummer Paul Thompson and singer Alex Kapranos. Anyhow, as it now turns out, The Yummy Fur will reunite early next year for a number of one-off concerts across Scotland, England, and the U.S. The band, which will consist of McKeown, Thompson, and guitarist Brian McDougal, will begin its travels on January 7th in Glasgow, its first proper [...]

Maybe we aren't so nerdy after all: Scottish band The Yummy Fur will reunite this coming January to play a handful of dates in the UK and the US. The band, whom to be honest, we had never even heard of, featured 1990s singer John McKeown as well as Franz Ferdinand drummer Paul Thompson and singer Alex Kapranos. They're set to play at Glasgow's Nice N' Sleazy on January 7, the first outing in a one-off tour that will feature McKeown and Thompson, along with former guitarist Brian McDougall. Kapranos has yet to become involved. He [...]
