Yura Yura Teikoku were a rock'n'roll band from Toyko formed by Shintaro Sakamoto, frontman and guitarist, and bass player Chiyo Kamekawa in 1989. They had a number of other players, but drummer Ichiro Shibata joined the group in 1997, finalizing the line-up. A year later, the group released the stellar 3x3x3 , a record that extended the barriers of psychedelia and garage rock, only to be eclipsed three years later with the brilliant Yura Yura Teikoku III , which surely has one of the greatest rock openers of all time in [...]

Charles Schulz Yura Yura Teikoku - "Ohayo Mada Yaro" The first half-dozen episodes of The Loose Gang , no one really realises what it is. It's a funny sitcom, okay it's hilarious, but that's all people are saying. "Check out this program. Loose Gang . 'Loose' like 'free.'" It's got Mark Pimms, the guy from Big Country , that hysterical kid from Funny People , and the chick from Friday Night Lights . Mostly people don't describe the plot because the plot doesn't [...]
Where ESG and Can intersect is where the new incarnation of Japan's long-running (est 1989) Yura Yura Teikoku now call home. Unnerving and relentless is the mantra beat of "Dekinai" and look at that cover! TUBE ART! You know these guys are for real. Win a sweet prize if you ...

Tidak ada yang bisa menyalahkan mahasiswa yang bangun kesiangan dan terpaksa membolos kuliah. Menemukan lagu di bawah ini berhasil membuat siang hari saya menjadi sedikit lebih berarti. Yura Yura Teikoku - Ohayo Mada Yaro
I am SORRY. The last couple months have been crazy since I moved back to school, and because of that I've had less time for checking the blog e-mail. I've gotten tons of talented people sending me shit, and I haven't had the time to post a good portion of it. This is my making like Little Boots and remedying this shitty situation. Here's thirteen artists I've really enjoyed from my e-mail, listed from oldest to newest. Disclaimer: All of these artists deserve far longer write-ups; these accumulation posts won't be happening often if [...]

Japanese rockers Yura Yura Teikoku might reuse the same up-down melody throughout their track "Dekinai" but it only serves to make the track all the more catchy. Think '70s. Think psychedelic. Think krautrock. Take a listen and decide for yourself.
The Mary Onettes - DareThe Mary Onettes - PuzzlesIf you are a fan of British alternative pop of the '80s, then Sweden's Mary Onettes will no doubt resonate. I really dug their self titled debut from a couple of years ago - very moody, very New Order-ish. You will hear elements of a lot of the era's other key players - The Cure, The Smiths and Echo & the Bunnymen - in their songs. Their new album

Yura Yura Teikoku have been grinding in the Japanese underground for 20yrs and thanks to DFA Records I haven't missed the train (only 20yrs late). The psychedelic trio finally broke the borders of Japan with their live show in New York (2005) and are now pedaling tracks stateside. The new relationship between the Japanese band and New York based label brings the 2007 Hollow Me release , with the addition of the single Beautiful , to North America. Yura Yura Teikoku - Dekinai

Our mail bag has overflowed with new tunes this month. Out of procrastination excuses and with the e-mail piling up, we took a deep breath, steadied our nerves and went postal. To our surprise there's some really good stuff in there. A few of these artists we already knew about, but many are flying below the radar. From now one, we'll make it a regular feature to share the mailbag goods. Check out the tracks below and let us know who you like, so can get more material on them in the future. [...]

We had heard whisperings that Yura Yura Teikoku 's set opening for Yo La Tengo in Boston was fantastic. In fact, one HAD staffer even went to so far as to say that the band had outshone YLT, and not by a little bit. Suffice it to say, it was enough to peak our interest and get us to head over to the Music Hall of Williamsburg on Friday night, and we certainly didn't leave disappointed. Much like Yo La Tengo, YYT manages to jump around a plethora of [...]

Yura Yura Teikoku are one of the great latter day Japanese psych masters and in the opinion of RSTB often overlooked. Their album 3x3x3 has to rate amongst one of the great lost gems of this genre and it would seem that we're not the only fans as DFA pull the remix treatment on the band. Yura Yura Teikoku – Dekinai / Sweet Surrender 12" The crack team over at DFA use Yura Yura Teikoku's smoky psych as a starting [...]

Yura Yura Teikoku - Sweet Surrender
Think Joy Division as remade by Chromatics - ah, but its so much more than that! Twisted Wires are a raging storm reflected in the retina of a solemn shoegazing guitarist, coiling a mournful down-tuned motif from his spidery guitar strings. In the 80s. With The Horrors making like the spectral ...
Highly recommended Japanese band fronted by artist, Shintaro Sakamoto. Yura Yura Teikoku - Sweet Surrender

Japan's best kept secret, Yura Yura Teikoku are the only Japanes psych band to really break the mainstream and enjoy success in the country, but despite their homegrown notoriety they've broken almost no ground abroad. Working their way up through the Tokyo underground they were regulars at the UFO club and appeared on compilations from the legendary PSF label. The band's 1998 album 3x3x3 is a potent mix of garage rock and power pop that along with a reputation for remarkable live shows, elevated them to icon status. Now Mesh-Key records has released their latest record Sweet [...]
