As always, we've been hard at work over at Tiny Mix Tapes' "Cerberus," getting to the bottom of limited runs and underground artists flexing their guns. Here's the latest batch, more to come soon: Failing Lights - Dawn Undefeated [12-inch; ... Continue reading ’

Zachary Cale is many things. Born in the small town of Enon, Louisiana, he's come to New York with a rock band (Illuminations), a revolving cast of local musicians (The Rain Band), and his own solo bleeding heart full of acoustic roots music . Four solo records later, he's still riding the rails and screaming into the night. Latest LP 'Noise of Welcome' brings his vision of Johnny Cash meets Hank Williams to a contemporary crossroads. Listen to the beautiful "Hello Oblivion" below and check out faithful Robert Johnson cover 'Love in Vain' here . - [...]

I am still on vacation in the US so things are slowed down, but I was able to edit the recordings of the Zachary Cale concert in Schwarzenberg. It was awesome to have him there and he played 1,5 hours in front of a small crowd, but people really enjoyed it, so get a glimpse of the set below and maybe I am able to publish the whole set. Thanks to Zachary Cale to visit the Ore Mountains, as William Tyler and Daniel Bachman did it before. More will come! Oh [...]

The steel strings of Daniel Bachman's appeareance are still ringing in the small gallery in Schwarzenberg, but I am happy to announce that my friend Zachary Cale will cross Europe soon and stop here at the Ore Mountains. He's one of the most prolific and hard working singer-songwriters to date. He's touring a lot and he is running his own label All Hands Electric with tons of releases. A little over a year ago we posted about Louisiana singer-songwriter  Zachary Cale . Back then we said " His voice draws you in, it is inviting and hypnotic and works beautifully with the gentle folk accompaniment as he strums away in true troubadour style. They are reflective, poignant and emotive and he has that rare talent of being able to make you forget what else is going on around you and immerse yourself fully in the world he creates – superb. " The good news then is that he is back with some new [...]

After the rocking tunes at Brillobox in February, we're paring everything down and having an acoustic evening. Heartfelt and twangy tunes, foot-stompin', whiskey-drinkin' (and hollerin'), and all that jazz. Except for the jazz, actually ... Come on down to the Club Café on Friday evening and share the good times with [...]

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Zachary Cale  co-runs All Hands Electric, an artists' collective and record label set up with friends in 2008.  He plays guitar and sings with local indie band Illuminations who produce a tumultuous REM/Big Star-like sound, and his musical CV also boasts a number of interesting side-projects. Cale has developed this support for local artists alongside his own career, with work set firmly in the new-folk genre with both traditional and modern influences. His most recent album Noise Of Welcome was released earlier this year, the follow-up to [...]
BEST OF 2011 : Songs | Albums (soon) | EPs/Singles | Discoveries/Heavy Rotation | Photos A really good year! The first 40 or so are mega-jams and the latter 38 (Rawkblog loves you, baby) are still jams. I purposefully left out songs by Destroyer because I couldn't decide, so consider Kaputt represented. You can play the entire page with the handy Ex.fm player in the bottom right corner, stream the playlist on Spotify and Rdio , and download everything after the jump. [...]

Genre: Singer-Songwriter, Folk Label: Daytrotter Recently we (the dfbm staff^^) got the opportunity to finally see one of our favourite singers live in Leipzig. We really enjoy the music of Zachary Cale, so he was already featured a few times here at the blog. It was a great pleasure (except from the sometimes a bit annoying audience) to see him playing some of his wonderful songs, kind of acous [ This is the summary, read the whole story on Website ]

Before we begin, I have some news about The Indie Sabbath . This is going to be the last regular Indie Sabbath for a month or so. Last week, I mentioned that I would be leaving to help with the disaster in the south this coming monday. Assuming the world is still here by the end of the night, that is still the plan. For those of you who haven't read last week's Sabbath, let me catch you up. Starting Monday the 16th, I am going to be traveling to Missouri to help with the relief effort. This is [...]
This morning's show was the first of the summer semester - but in the same timeslot, since I'll be sticking to Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon for the next few months. I hope you like the time as much as I do, because it works well with my new gig and to me it seems like I have more listeners than ever. Even if you don't find yourself near a radio on Tuesday mornings, remember you can also listen to the show live via http://wrvu.org or via either our iPhone or Android app. [...]
