Mal wieder ein Zufallsfund über Myspace – Zaza , ein Trio aus Brooklyn, dessen Sound mich sofort und sehr positiv an The Rosebuds erinnert, nur dass hier noch einige Lagen Dreampop/Shoegaze über die sanften Melodien gelegt werden und so eine dichte, verträumte und angenehm dunkle Atmosphäre entsteht. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have set their summer and fall tour schedule. Though there's a show this Thursday at Cake Shop, things really kick off on July 10 when the band play for free at South Street Seaport. The Cameo EP by ZAZA was recently recommended to me. After a little digging, I found out that they have been touring with GT favs The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart (and yes, I missed the show last night). On the stage of the Summit Friday night, all the non-drumming members of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart stood at the edge of the stage, leaning over with their instruments, looking as if they were ready to jump into the crowd. If they weren't all so mild-mannered. That combination of rock 'n' roll ebullience and reserved timidity has served the Brooklyn band well.
