The weekend has come and gone, and now you're deep into your weekly grind. Never fear, Wobble Wednesday is back with more of your favorite face-melting bass drops to help you make the most of your mundane lifestyle. Today I'll be guiding you along through the many variations of bass music that we see these days, new and old. I wanted to turn the Wobble Wednesday feature into more than just a section for today's dubstep, so I decided it was only right to incorporate some drum & bass as well as an oldies section into the weekly feature. Sunday seems to have been the lightest day of the fest for many people, and maybe that was for the best, because I saw a lot of fatigued faces in the crowd. For those with enough stamina (or maybe just sick curiosity) there was an early set by New Orleans' own queen diva of sissy bounce, Big Freedia. To say she left the crowd (and the Gulf Shores police force) stunned would be a hilarious understatement. On a totally different note, Mavis Staples treated her unfortunately meager crowd to a little church service. Flaming Lips had a large, largely inattentive [...]

In the time leading up to another presidential election, it'd be nice to know that there's someone around to guide us through the everyday struggles of the common man and give us a taste of the American dream that we're all entitled to. Killer Reese One (1/2 of King Fantastic) is that man. In this new age of Hip Hop where sampling knows no bounds, Troublemaker (other 1/2 of King Fantastic) crafts a Gangsta 2.0 soundtrack for the four track EP, Sociopoliticalpimptalk . The first track, "G Sharp," gives [...]

Back in the day when I was young I'm not a kid anymore.

Damn Kids official site Toronto prodigy Stephane Deschenes, aka Damn Kids , has just released an incredible bootleg of 'In the Beginning' - the lead track off Zeds Dead's latest 'Adrenaline' EP. It's a big flip, to be sure - between the half-time breaks his track embodies a trap-house aesthetic, and puts to full use Stephane's formal training in audio engineering. I am especially pleased that he decided to keep one element from the original at centre of the track - the epic/cinematic sound design from Zeds [...]
There were so many deserving bands playing in the early hours on Saturday, but fuck 'em—the first band I saw was the Black Lips , and they were worth waiting for. I was wondering why the Black Keys the night before had failed to move me, but now I remember: there are two kinds of garage rock, just like there's a difference between modern country and roots country. And though I shudder at talk of "authenticity" in music, because it's usually code for hating the kids with their new-fangled contraptions, there's no argument that there's something irreproducible [...]

The skies opened up on the second day of Coachella, bringing with it an energy that rejuvenated all of us. Despite numerous (but necessary) distractions, we managed to arrive unscathed at the polo grounds just in time to catch Jacques Lu Cont, whose performance warrants a post all its own. The only way to describe it would be phenomenal: his tight grooves and melodies were the perfect compliment to the beautifully sunny day. After a short hiatus to catch AWOLNATION at the Main Stage we headed back to the Sahara tent to watch Zeds [...]
