Boy did I get drunk last night. Bear Republic Big Bear Black Stout, you are no longer my friend, no matter how deliciously alcoholic you might be. There was a period of time when I found myself "falling asleep" (blacking out?) on a pillow-covered floor for one or two minutes at a time. I don't remember stretches of conversation that occurred between myself and the person with whom I was hanging out, but I can always pretend my cognitions were fascinating and insightful. Now here's the music! RULES for uninitiated noobs : With 100MB of webspace, [...]
...And here's post #2 for today. It's just a mix tape. No cool stories or updates to go along with it. Although, if anyone out there knows CSS and wants to tell me how I can align everything on this page so that it's always centered, and centered in every browser, that would be immensely helpful to me. And if you haven't already, please buy something from me on eBay ? I'd like to stay on the west coast for as long as possible, and your money can help ensure this. Thank you. Now for some music. I honestly forget who told me to listen to Zelienople a few years ago, but whoever it was I owe them. Although I initially got into the band because of their dreamy ambient sounds, it's been interesting to hear them grow into a much more psych-folk/drone sound, which they've done very well I might add. After releasing albums on various labels such as Root Strata and Last Visible Dog, the band has found themselves a part of the Type roster for the release of their latest effort His/Hers [...]

After a string of great releases and a tour of reputable labels (Time-Lag, Root Strata, Digitalis) drone-psych mainstays Zelienople turn up on Type records with another haunting spectrescape lunge into psychosis. His/Hers is a ghostly tour of bummer psych with soft edges of space blues that weave in and out of focus. Equal parts Loren Connors and Charlambides, the record proves that the band is well worth the attention that they've received (in some circles). Soft passages break free into restrained feedback, full with static and brimstone. Matt Christensen's vocals float over din and restraint with an affected [...]

Chicago psyche-folk outfit Zelienople step up to the mic for this week's Interversity. Their fifth-full length album, His/Hers , was recently released on the always interesting Type label and is the prime musical accompaniment for the both unnerving, magnificent and mysterious appearance of the cicadas this spring. Matt and Mike generously share their love of all things odd, instrumental and Neil Young. Zelienople - "Parts are Lost" - His/Hers ( Type 2007) [...]
It is with a heavy heart that I am required to inform you that the audio-stimulation series known as The Best Podcast You Have has reached its end. With this final episode - fittingly titled The Night We Called It A Day - the book is sealed on this endeavor. I, for one, thought it was really exciting to be a small part of the creative team behind the podcast, and will certainly miss the process of culling sounds from the outside world and waiting to hear how Jack would manipulate them. I think towards the end we [...]
