While our coverage of King Krule's rise to stardom on Potholes has been relatively absent, that doesn't mean we haven't been playing the hell out of the Londoner's self-titled five-track EP. Everything from his voice to the grim instrumentals are surprisingly unique, and it shows for a world of promise for this young artist. Archy Marshall, who was formerly known as Zoo Kid, now takes to the studio with his band to perform an EP favorite "Portrait in Black and Blue" for Yours Truly. Have you ever wondered what would happen if Billy Bragg appeared as baby-faced seventeen year old with red hair? Archy Marshall probably doesn't wonder about it too much though. After making Pitchfork's dick hard writing songs worthy of someone twice his age, he changed up from his Zoo Kid moniker to King Krule and has been picking out notes and crooning his little heart out. The lyrics are great, don't get me wrong, but the real gem here is hearing how that sad Croydon accent wraps itself around the song like a big open syllable blanket. [...]

A video for the final track on King Krule's new EP, which it out now on True Panther Sounds . This project is spearheaded by a UK singer-songwriter who was getting some buzz last year while putting music out under the name " Zoo Kid ." His style hasn't exactly changed by leaps and bounds since the name change, but things to sound and feel a bit more refined. The song above is one of the catchiest moments on this entire release.
