This week I have been taking a stroll down memory lane, recapping some of my most successful Sunday Mix Tapes. The next new one will be number 200, you know. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that this is a very exciting time for us all. Although I must say, if I'm still doing this after 200 more mix tapes I might have to consider making some big changes in my life. After mix tape number 100 I decided to make a change. It was January 14th, 2008 when I unilaterally (is that what you'd call [...]
Elyse Marie Pahler knew her killers from the school bus. Elyse, Jacob Delashmutt and Joseph Fiorella attended Arroyo Grande High School in San Luis Obispo, 195 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Roger Casey attended a nearby school. On July 22, 1995 the three boys took Elyse to a hidden location about a quarter-mile from [...]

In no particular order... Tenet, the band by and including Jed Fucking Simon. A super intense cross of old school know-how and current awesome. This man's right hand is up there with the best (Hetfield, etc...). City Of Fire: What Caustic Thought has evolved into. Byron's new band with Burton Bell on vox, mixed by Greg Reely. [...]
All audio equipment distorts sound to some degree and, eventually through mechanical and electrical failure, fucks it up. Since indeterminacy as a compositional parameter has been a constant in our work, this often produces what we regard as interesting new developments. God help me if the next two weeks are anything like today was at work. I'm going to be such a miserable piece of shit. I'm trying to think positively about my temporary schedule change, but it's so depressing. I might as well be one of those cult goons standing on a street corner near the "Dream Center," handing out lemonade to passing cars. That's how useless I feel. When I took a short 15-minute break today, I found myself walking across the street for a soda, and I had a vision of myself five hours later crying over a [...]

Joke of the Day: What did one asexual hipster say to the other at last week's Swervedriver reunion show in New York City? [Scroll to the very bottom -- below the MP3s -- for the answer] Talk about making a story out of nothing...CNN is reporting that rising gas prices are severely affecting indie bands' ability to tour this summer. Hmm...maybe if they spent less money on haircuts and sweaters -- wait a minute: CNN used the word "indie" in one of their top story headlines? Does that mean it's finally okay to say that [...]

* Zoviet France : Kofca (10.0 mb) | Latst (14.5 mb) | Farasin (7.0 mb) From Feedback : Mort Aux Vaches I bought this awhile ago on an impulse because I thought the packaging looked cool. The whole package was kinda mysterious and for some reason really spoke to me. I'd heard the name Zoviet France in one context or another, but didn't really know too much about them. From what I knew, [...]

I guess today is another one of those two-update days. Aren't you readers lucky? Both music related! I guess I'm finally living up to my billing as a music blogger? The thought of it might be sickening, sure, but the reality is that I try to spend as little time writing about music as a music nerd possibly can. I don't want to bore anyone. With that in mind, here's another music related entry. A mix tape! RULES for uninitiated noobs : With 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be [...]

Physics News is reporting that Australian scientists have proposed a method for teleportation. Right now they're simply working with matter waves, using a technique that differs from quantum teleportation schemes in that they don't require the sender/receiver to share entangled states. I guess they're still miles away from teleporting animals or humans, since they're working with atoms frozen at "about 100 billionths of a degree about absolute zero." [ story ] Whatever, it's not going to work, anyway. They should just read the fictional story I wrote last year about the scientist who figured out how to teleport [...]
