On Zu 's "The Way of the Animal Powers," the Rome-based sax/drums/bass trio is joined by Chicago-based avant cellist Fred Lomberg-Holm, to create a intricate and aggressive album, rich with improvisation. The interplay between the quartet and its' attention to tone and texture is exceptional. Dato che ho realizzato la classifica personale dei migliori album italiani del 2009 e delle più belle canzoni internazionali del decennio , ho pensato di realizzare anche una via di mezzo: le più belle canzoni italiane del decennio. Premetto che sono sicurissimo di avere lasciato per strada (solamente per problemi di memoria) alcune canzoni che meritavano di esserci e premetto anche che ho cercato di prendere in considerazione sia quei brani "importanti" dal lato musicale sia (come ho fatto per le canzoni internazionali) quei brani che ho ascoltato con più piacere lungo questi dieci anni. Prima di loro i Valerian Swing mi hanno ricordato quanto abbia nel cuore quei fraseggi melodici da gruppo post-rock fine anni Novanta e gli (o i?, vale la pronuncia?)
