We've been sitting on this track for over a month now, so we figured it's about time we show it some love, especially considering we've been listening to it non-stop. If you put a track like this, with it's crunchy synths and heavy-hitting basslines, in front of us it's pretty much guaranteed we're going to love it. This collaboration between London's funk aficionado Blende and the Istanbul-based duo Surrender! is amazing, and the comparisons to the sounds of Justice and Daft Punk are easily justified. Circus is one cut off Synapse, their three track EP released [...]
Stick around long enough and you can watch musical trends come and go...... Punk fades in the early 80s, goes underground and re-emerges with a (commercial) vengeance. Heavy Metal morphs through various re-incarnations, even Dance music evolves from Disco to House to Techno to whatever Step/Trap/Shake thing is happening. And ...

On Friday, February 1st, at the Vic Theater in Chicago, Yo La Tengo treated an eager audience to about two and a half hours of material spanning their almost thirty-year-old career. I spotted this in a DJ's bag recently and knew it was going to be amazing. Its the perfect track to pull out if you were doing a set of obscure dance and the crowd is dying for something some what familiar.

Blende is back with a new edition of his now infamous Edits series, if you're not familiar with the principle it's simple: the swedish producer re-edits 4 tracks which range from old disco tracks to obscure funk tracks and everything between. This is time he's also given a bit of insight on why he chose each song - grab all four below and lookout for a Blende US tour in 2013. 1. Earth, Wind & Fire - "Let's Groove" "The original of this track shouldn't really be tampered with as it's a perfect [...]

Happy Thanksgiving! Sam & Dave (1968) ZZ Top (1978) There are all sorts of sappy "thank you"-type songs that one could choose as a Thanksgiving song offering, but frankly, those songs just aren't suited for Reselect. Instead, I think something a bit grittier and groovier would do quite nicely, and one of the songs that best fits that bill is "I Thank You," a song recorded by Sam & Dave, written for them by Isaac Hayes and David Porter [...]

You think we're in a classic rock rut? Maybe - but that seems to be the best thing goin' in music these days. The trio has a new album, La Futura , produced by Rick Rubin, and here's "I Gotsta Get Paid" from it. ZZ Top official web site

Last weekend Virgin Mobile landed at the Merriweather Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland for FreeFest. A Virgin media themed festival coined for it's outgoing charity initiatives through the celebration of live music, dance, culture... and yes, ferris wheels! At a time where people are in the midst of habub about Sir Richard Branson's Galactica space venture and the retired Endeavor space shuttle basically stopping the presses (btw the irony of people adoring a space shuttle from a program that basically died because it has lost support... is beyond us), EDM pioneer Srillex took it upon himself to launch [...]
