O'Brien plays Freebird with the long-bearded guy from ZZ Top. Rating: 0.0/ 5 (0 votes cast)
Just for the record, Conan will always be The Tonight Show host for me, in my heart. And Andy Richter will always be his sidekick. In my heart. And that version of "Freebird"? With Ben Harper, Beck, ZZ Top, Will Ferrell, The Tonight Show band, and oh yeah! Conan shredding it on guitar? Yeah that will also be in my heart. Forever. Watch Will Ferrell and Conan O'Brian (and Beck and Ben Harper and ZZ Top etc. etc.) play "Freebird" at Funny Or Die Watch Neil Young play "Long May You Run" [...]
This huge number with Will Ferrell, Beck , ZZ Top 's Billy Gibbons and Ben Harper (plus the heartfelt speech that directly preceded it) is a perfect example of why I love Conan O'Brien so much. I miss him already.
Last Friday was the end of the Conan/NBC saga and he went out with a bang, performing Skynyrd's classic "Free Bird" with Will Ferrell on vocals and a backing band of Ben Harper, Beck, Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top and Max Weinberg on drums. Classic stuff and CoCo will be missed, hopefully he will land somewhere else. As a bonus, I have included Jimmy Fallon's show opening tribute to CoCo, Boyz II Men style with The Roots below, enjoy. Click here to view the embedded video. Will Farrell sends Conan off on a high note with a rousing cover of Lyndyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" - complete with more cowbell, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Beck and Ben Harper on pedal steel. And with that ladies and gentleman, " Late Night Debacle 2010 " has officially come to a close.
I don't know what could have been so important on a Friday night that you weren't watching Conan last night, but the closing of his final show was a sight to behold. After appearances by Tom Hanks, Steve Carell, Neil Young and a heartfelt speech in which Conan O'Brien thanked NBC for the last 20 years, he joined a star-studded cast of buddies on stage for a fitting goodbye song: the one and only "Free Bird". The cast? How about Will Ferrell and his pregnant wife Viveca Paulin, dressed as Lynyrd Skynyrd-era hillbillies, a suit-clad Billy [...]

Dan Auerbach is a self-described "workaholic." When he's not working with drummer Patrick Carney in the Black Keys , he's producing albums for emerging artists like Jessica Lea Mayfield or attempting to marry hip-hop and rock with the BlakRoc project. When Auerbach is not doing any of that, he's just being Dan Auerbach, the guy from the middle of Ohio who's currently touring behind his debut solo album, 'Keep It Hid.' To bring it full circle, he produced the debut album of his backing band. "They gave me a demo when I was on [...]

By: David SchultzThe Eighties proved to be an awkward era. Not only did it give us the Safety dance, purple rain, luftballons, the moonwalk, Wang Chung and Terence Trent D'Arby, it's the decade that gave us the phrase "Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto." In addition to cringeworthy fashion statements like suits with pastel-colored T-shirts and teased, feathered hair for both men and women, the Eighties
James Taylor and Carole King will undoubtedly by dueting on "You've Got A Friend" when the two pair up for a series of concerts celebrating the 40th anniversary of their 1970 tour. Apparantly the two had such a lovely time at their recent reunion at the Troubador that we now get a full "Troubadour" tour next year. We smell a Starbucks album, a PBS special and a CD/DVD package sometime around the holidays next year. You? Anybody feel like the whole " Aerosmith dumping Steven Tyler" and the inevitable "no I'm not" followed by [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Holy Hell The hottest soap opera in rock right now is Aerosmith . The question of whether or not Steven Tyler is still in the band is a melodrama that makes the last days of Velvet Revolver and Scott Weiland look downright banal. First a recap of the week's events: Tuesday night in New York City, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler joined guitarist Joe Perry onstage to announce he was not leaving the band [...]
Of course it's not all about guitar. Dusty Hill and Frank Beard comprise one of the most underrated rhythm sections in rock music, but no matter. Z.Z. Top, named after a combination of two bluesmen, delivers some of the most toe tappin' and beer slammin' music of the 20th century, each musician coming together to make more than the sum of it's parts. Z.Z. Top has a live sound that personifies

Even at the age of 84, blues legend B.B. King shows no signs of slowing down his tour schedule. The octogenarian, who kicks off a new round of tour dates tonight, will stay busy through the end of the year with a solo run that hits markets out West which culminates with a New Year's Eve performance at Mabee Center Arena in Tulsa, OK. If you're not into a night of listening to the blues, than maybe you'll be interested in hitting one of these recently announced tours... [...]
