![[Listen/Download] Ohama- Where Do You Call Home?](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4054400_lg.jpg)
by teepoo Japanese-Canadian Ohama aka Tona Walt Ohama sounds like he's stuck in the 80s with this crazily addictive synth-pop. The dude is from Rainer, Alberta. Perhaps when he was bored of the flat prairies he bought a synth and started experimenting. He even makes fun of it sort of in Where Do You Call Home with the line " I live on a potato farm" that kicks it off. It's almost like spoken word over some loveable beats. Ohama- Where Do You [...]

by teepoo On March 6th Paper Beat Scissors will release their self-titled debut album. It's an album that flourishes with Tim Crabtree's haunting voice. Here's a sneak peak with the track Rest Your Bones . The song is pretty bare compared to the rest of the album but the delicate emotions still pretend themselves in an album about endingss and new beginnings. Paper Beat Scissors- Rest Your Bones

![[Album Review/Stream] Leonard Cohen- Old Ideas](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4049382_lg.jpg)
by nashawa It's really difficult to come into an album like Old Ideas without preconceived notions. We all know who Leonard Cohen is and the weight the name carries in this country. As a songwriter, it's very hard to not trace a trail of influence back to him regardless of the style of music you write. For me, there is no trail: Leo is the be-all-end-all of Canadian songwriting as far as overall package is concerned - in my not-so-humble opinion - so there wasn't much of a chance [...]
by teepoo I have a lot of talented friends in real life and here's another one of them. Seven Symphonies is the musical project of my friend Sean Andrews. Check out this video for a song called Sugared Champagne . I'm in it on the keyboard. It was shot and directed by Christian Peterson of CMK Media . It was a ton of fun to shoot! ![[Listen/Download] Police des Moeurs- Monde Fallacieux](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4048725_lg.jpg)
by teepoo It's hard to find anything on Police de Moeurs that is English but they are a chillwave band from Montreal, Quebec. They're influenced by 80s fetichism, nostalgia, boredom and insatisfaction and delusion. If you could understand French you get that sort of in Monde Fallacieux . If not, you can just get lost in their simple yet hypnotic rhythm. Police des Moeurs- Monde Fallacieux Bandcamp

It's amazing that someone on that little island of PEI can make great music but Boxer the Horse does. Check out Rattle Your Cage which is part of their upcoming release French Residency out sometime in March. Boxer the Horse- Rattle Your Cage Website
![[Listen/Download] Ox- Out On the Weekend](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4047352_lg.jpg)
by teepoo Seems like we posted tracks by Ox quite a few times recently but haven't really said much about him. There's nothing much to him except that he's from the West Coast and writes simple, yet enjoyable songs. Here's one he didn't write though. It's a cover of Neil Young's Out On the Weekend and I think he does Neil some justice. Ox- Out on the Weekend
![[Listen/Download] Rattlesnake Choir- Heart Full Of Love](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4046705_lg.jpg)
by teepoo Here's another band from Toronto that I have not heard of. Heart Full of Love full of fun fiddles and dancing piano lines. There's some shows announced for 2012. A band of acoustic instruments should be an interesting performance! Rattlesnake Choir- Heart Full of Love Website

![[Listen/Download] Quaker Parents- Teeshirt](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4046218_lg.jpg)
by teepoo Not sure where this Halifax Nova Scotia band thought of it's name from. Maybe they ate a ton of Quaker brand oatmeal growing up. Well they grew up to make some pretty interesting music that has an almost classic 70s surf-pop vibe. Check out the quirky Teeshirt . If you're digging it, there's a ton of free stuff on their Bandcamp . Quaker Parents- Teeshirt
![[Listen/Download] The City Streets- How I Pray](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4044671_lg.jpg)
Originally from Edmonton, The City Streets now reside in Montreal. Their pretty indie pop but there's a slight tinge of punk to their sound. Then to make things more confusing How I Pray throws in a saxophone. They have some free EPs released but their planning to release not one but two full length albums in spring 2012 named Sawdust and Rum and Winter Lightening . The City Streets- How I Pray Website
![[Listen/Download] Whitehorse- Killing Time Is Murder](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4044547_lg.jpg)
by teepoo One of my favourite husband and wife duos is probably Whitehorse because they don't have to be all cute when they're in duet. For example in Killing Time Is Murder there's a pretty dark, dirty and naughty atmosphere about it. The song comes off their self-titled debut that was released last October. by teepoo I hope New Hands releases more songs soon because the two songs I've heard so far are quite neat. They have a kind of creepy dark vibe on top of some LCD Soundsystem influences as I have stated before. Check out Through the Woodwork , one of two songs released on Bandcamp . New Hands- Through the Woodwork

It's part of her album released last year titled Geckos in the Elevator with tracks both recorded in Austin and Hamilton, Ontario. You can check out more on Bandcamp . Jean Caffeine- Jane Rearranged
