The wait is over. The 2013 Splendour in the Grass lineup has finally been announced. I have to say that I'm not sure some of these names have sunk in yet, but first impressions are that it is pretty massive. The SITG crew released the lineup via a videolink this morning. I love it when The Griswolds come to town. Their shows are always guaranteed to be a loose time, full of heaps of dancing, shouting, impressive percussion and crowd sing-alongs. We saw them last Friday at the X&Y bar, supported by Oceanics. Oceanics were impressive. The lead singer had an awesome stage presence and his chameleon-like voice kept everyone engaged; it was very so impressive. From Casablancas, to Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, his voice was incredibly flexible and showed off his diversity. Tambourine records has screwed over Swedish rock group The Hives by using money from The Cardigans to pay for studio production and other costs without telling them. "There are no loan agreements, no signed documents, no agreements on interest rates" state The Hives. However, they still lost the court case, and are expected to pay 18.5 million kroner ($2.9 million) to The Cardigans. Looks like they'll have to cut back on all those expensive suits and top hats for a while.

The National have confirmed that they will be playing the 2013 Splendour in the Grass, lead singer Matt Berninger told triple j today. They are titled "Demons", a dark track in which they make 7/8 time seem effortless and "Don't Swallow The Cap", an upbeat number which somewhat evens out the first release to keep the fans guessing as to what vibe TWFM will have. Trouble Will Find Me will be released on Tuesday, 21st May.

Ever wished someone would bring back oldschool badass blues rock? Well Bon Iver's Justin Vernon is doing just that with his side project The Shouting Matches . Teaming up with Phil Cook (Megafaun, DeYarmond Edison) and Brian Moen (Peter Wolf Crier), Vernon has channeled his country side to produce the debut album Grownass man. The sexy slow black keys-esque songs are very different to Bon Iver, but well worth a listen.
