Today the frontman from Miike Snow has announced he's releasing a solo album named Descender . The set date for release is the 15th of April, with the album featuring a raft of goodies for all. These include a 75 piece Czech Republic Philharmonic Orchestra, cameos from The Libertines guitarist, Anthony Rossomando, former member of Interpol, Brad Traux and John Herndon of Tortoise. Group these elements together, add Andrew Wyatt's vocals, and we should have a recipe for an interesting solo release. Word has it, that he's pushed aside the insatiable pop touch from his Miike Snow antics, and [...]
You may have heard of The Royal Concept from the FIFA13 soundtrack, or due to their striking resemblance to Phoenix. Either way, they are an extremely talented group in their own right. Nothing shows this off better than this incredible cover of Daft Punk's stellar tune "Digital Love". Can't believe how much they nail Yngwie Malmsteen's guitar solo!

MS MR got in the triple j studio this morning and laid down LCD Soundsystem's epic tune "Dance Yrself Clean". What do you think? Did they nail it or butcher it?
Weekly Playlist 89 features Local Natives, The Griswolds, Dan Croll, Foals, Mitzi, Jagwar Ma and Half Moon Run. Local Natives - Columbia EPIC! Love this tune and the entire record. Love the more atmospheric vibe they've got going on Hummingbird. Dessner has had quite the effect. The Griswolds - The Courtship of Summer Preasley Getting a lot of heat on the j's at the moment and deservedly song. You may have heard this tune in the Wet n Wild advert - a summer classic. [...]
Scottish indie-rockers Frightened Rabbit will bring their new tunes – and fresh banter back to Australia for a national tour in April/May. Supporting their new album Pedestrian Verse , the indie outfit have announced headline shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne around the GTM Festivals. Frightened Rabbit started out as the solo project of Glasgow School of Art graduate Scott Hutchison. As the albums have gone on the line-up has expanded to include his brother Grant (drums), Billy Kennedy (guitar/bass), Andy Monaghan (guitar) and Gordon Skene (guitar/keyboard). It was Frightened Rabbit's second album The Midnight Organ [...]
Big Day Out is typically a festival I avoid like the plague. The crowds alone are enough to put a fella off catching the host of great bands they get to play, but this year they nailed the lineup so hardcore that I couldn't resist. The lineup boasted some of the biggest named indie acts of the last 10 years: Band of Horses, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foals, The Killers, Vampire Weekend were some of the huge names that graced Gold Coast Parklands on a steamy Sunday mid January. [...]

Sydney group PVT have been playing their unique, experimental brand of synth rock for over ten years now, and have become somewhat of a cult figure in Australian music, performing with the likes of Sigur Rós, Grizzly Bear and Brian Eno. Three years since releasing Church With No Magic, they are back with Homosapien , released track by track over the last 11 days. Homosapien is, to put it simply, an experience. Sweeping over different soundscapes, from driving guitar riffs to heady electro that would be a perfect fit in 80s movie Tron, this [...]
Laneway is always one of scenewave's favourite festivals of the Aussie summer. It prides itself on delivering a lineup which, at the time of release, has a couple of massive headline bands, but more importantly, acts as an incredible showcase of bands tipped to hit it big in the coming year. Laneway did that incredibly this year, and I for one, had no idea who many of the acts were that were announced on the Laneway bill, but it was a joy getting into them. Some of them have now become my favourite acts. Rumours circulated throughout Brissy [...]
We're a couple of weeks behind this one, but it is certainly not too late to get right behind this gem of a track released by electro-indie sensation Youth Lagoon. Trevor Powers has gone far more instrumental with this latest track, let us know what you reckon of the sound change! New album due out on March 5.
James Blake has released a new single called "Retrograde". What do you think? He's getting you warmed up for the release of his sophomore record, on 8th April 2013.
For those of you that have resisted the leaked version of Foals highly anticipated latest record Holy Fire , here's a sneak peak of what some of it sounds like, recorded live at BBC Radio 1 with Zane Lowe. It's a really cool interview, featuring some awesome new tracks which sound wicked live. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programme s/b01qcq2w
His youthful appearance may catch some off guard, but do not be fooled, as the packed house at Oh Hello! found out, Flume has all areas of his game in top form. Backing up from Laneway earlier in the day, Harley Streten a.k.a. Fume– one of the most hyped names in the Australian music industry– graced the stage with close to a two-hour set. Excitement would be an understatement; people were standing upon anything that would give them a better view, bearded men cuddled close to keep balance atop barstools and young women, brimming with anticipation, huddled for [...]
Byron Bay's Bluesfest is on of the most epic music festivals Australia has to offer. For some reason, we've never been along to one, always opting for Byron's other music men'al main attraction, Splendour in the Grass. After a conversation with a mate on the weekend about the awesomeness of Bluesfest, I decided to check it out. And hollyyyyy shhhmokes, this festival has officially gone full retard. These mentalists have released SEVEN lineup announcements, with each being bigger than the last. Anyway, enough blathering on from me, I'm really not giving this festival the hype it deserves, because [...]

Wow. Local Natives have given us an insight of how amazing their live acoustic performances are, by previewing their track, 'Heavy Feet' at house party in France. These Blogotheque sessions are so amazing, with the band playing to a group of 40 or so people in their typical fashion, with pure emotion. Recently releasing Hummingbird their second album, the lads are definitely on track to make 2013 another dominant year. Hummingbird has been on repeat since it's release date, and every listen just finds new and exciting elements to everyone song. 'You & I' [...]
High Highs, originally a Sydney-based band, have spent the last few years in Brooklyn, working on their debut record Open Season. It's been released in Australia about a week ago, and it's top notch. We loved their self-titled EP, and they've gone one better on this latest release. These recent releases have given them sufficient buzz to earn them a much deserving spot on the highly sought after bill of St Jerome's Laneway Festival 2013. They're playing at Laneway in Brisbane today at 2.2opm on the Zoo Stage, and we highly recommend catching their set. We [...]
I want it on the record and in writing: we were here when they weren't selling out concerts all over the world. Jagwar Ma will be the next best and biggest thing to come out of Australia. Foals are tweeting madly about them, so... These guys are going to be massive, and we just have to share this awesome music video with you, so enjoy "The Throw" by Jagwar Ma, a very talented, emerging electro duo out of Sydney.
