Ever wonder who's behind that ice cold bottle of Steam Whistle? Us too! So we asked our friend Marina, the community manager at Steam Whistle Brewing, a few questions about what it takes to brew the perfect beer! Steam Whistle is a Toronto staple, so how did the beer come to be? What's the Whistle's history? Why thank you! J It all started with a canoe trip and three fired guys…. In 1998, three friends and Steam Whistle’s future cofounders Greg Taylor, Cam Heaps and Greg Cromwell were on a [...]

Today marks the release of The Mohawk Lodge 's 4th LP Damaged Goods. It's their rawest, shortest (the album comes in at 30 minutes on the nose), and most energetic album to date and draws on inspiration from several euro-wide tours and talent from across Canada. Inspired by summer nights, voodoo, long drives, and near-death experiences, Damaged Goods is a culmination of lyrical stories, anthemic hooks and pop licks brought to life live-off-the-floor in a Toronto heatwave by Ryder Havdale, Eamon McGrath, Clay Jones (Huddle), Scott Freeman, Danny Miles and Peter Dreimanis (July Talk). The final touches were done across the country with Jordan [...]

A throwback to the days of Victorian seaside intrigue where peculiarity reigned and anything seemed possible, Revelstoke's (also known as Andrew Seale) new video for "Dans La Mer (Howl for Sade)" premiered this morning on AUX .tv. The animated video and narrative closely echoes the old world folk combined with swirling voices, dancing harmonicas and tumbling layers of the track – an unusual and intriguing song. “It's a cross between The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and Le Voyage Dans La Lune careening helplessly through Sam's and my unusual and seahorse-obsessed minds,” describes Andrew of the final product created [...]
