![[MP3's] Faunts, Cazals, Gregor Samsa, Semi Precious Weapons, The Disciplines](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1960169_lg.jpg)
Image From Here Sorry about being away for a few days. Had a lot of personal stuff to take care of. But, I should be back to my normal daily posting now. Some of these albums came out in 2008, but are still new to me. Some, came out in the early part of '09. Hopefully, they are ones that are new to you too. Coming up, will be new releases for this week. Enjoy! How I missed out on Canadian Faunts 2005 release High Expectations/Low [...]
![[New Releases 8-25-09] Blitzen Trapper, Spider Bags, Mellowdrone, Mew, David Mead](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1950695_lg.jpg)
Image From Here Trying to keep up with what is new. Will try to do this every week. Below are five albums I picked out of the new releases for August 25th, 2009. Arctic Monkey's Humbug was also released on the 25th. But, I decided not to post about it since about a million other bloggers have beat me to the punch. It's actually a decent album and I have nothing against the band. So, every week, on Wednesday or Thursday I will highlight some of the new releases for that week. This [...]
![[MP3's] A Mixed Bag](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1948122_lg.jpg)
The reason why I called this post "A Mixed Bag" is mainly because I've included songs from 1968, 1970, and all the way to 2009. I don't think I have ever, during the life of this blog, posted anything from the 60's. I think I may have posted some 70's stuff before but not sure. Well, you all know by now that I love lists. And, I've talked a lot about Mojo Magazine . In their latest edition they have a section called "The Mojo Playlist". It's basically a list of Mojo's Top Ten tracks that they've [...]
![[New] Thee Oh Sees, The Rumble Strips, Crocodiles, Cornershop](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1945732_lg.jpg)
Image From Here So, we continue on with some new music. Well, it is at least new to me.... Personally, this was my first taste of Thee Oh Sees. However, I was familiar somewhat with frontman John Dwyer's work in the San Francisco area (Coachwhips, Pink & Brown, OCS etc.). Thee Oh Sees latest Help is the bands second full-length LP following their 2008's debut The Master's Bedroom Is Worth Spending A Night In . The band fits easily into the garage/punk/psych genre of indie music and they do it [...]
![[New] Pomegranates, Japandroids, The Music Lovers, Superdrag](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1943247_lg.jpg)
Well, I am still playing catch-up to the first half of 2009. I'm pretty sure most of you have heard the releases below but I have just experienced them. And, I think they are all great. If you haven't heard them I strongly suggest you pick up a copy of these albums. They are truly worth it. So, a few words about them: Pomegranates Everybody, Come Outside is the Cincinnati's band follow up to last years debut Everything Is Alive . "They've held fast to youthful ingenuousness, but have totally [...]

Image From Here Damn, I've been sitting on these tracks for quite awhile. And, I feel bad for doing that. But, I got wrapped up in other things like the 80's and 90's series which took up some time. Well, at least, I am finally getting around to posting some new Shoegaze sounds. " Deep Cut formed in East London in 2006. The band members are: singer Emma Bailey , guitarist Mat Flint , bass player Simon Flint , drummer Ian Button and guitarist [...]

Image From Here You know, I have mentioned this before and will again. I missed out on new music for all of 2008 and half of 2007. So, I have been playing catch-up in the background. And, for that matter, I have been behind on the first half of 2009 and am playing catch-up with that too. Also, I have been buried in my 80's and 90's series which took a lot of my time but was/is well worth it. Which, brings me to my point: the albums/bands featured below may be old news to [...]

Well, unbelievable, here is the final installment of this series. These last six albums/tracks were the most difficult to get. Thanks to my wonderful friend Andy over at How Marvellous , I was able to finish this series. He provided me with two tracks that I just couldn't locate. Thanks, Andy Mate, it is greatly appreciated! So, if by chance, you are just tuning in, this series was taken from Mojo Magazine's Classic Edition Britpop - 60 Greatest 90's Britpop Albums. And, this post finishes off the series with these last six tracks/albums. I did [...]

Image From Here Wow, I can't believe I've made it this far. This post brings us to fifty four out of sixty albums. There are only six left and now I really think I might just make it. I have spent a lot of time on this series but it has been worth it. Once again, if you are just tuning in, this series is from Mojo Magazine's Classic Edition Britpop - containing the list of 60 Greatest 90's Britpop Albums. I've stayed the course and kept to Mojo's list. And, [...]

Image From Here Wow, I can't believe how hard this series is getting to finish. There are fourteen albums left out of the original sixty. And, I am having a hard time getting them in Digital format (Amazon, iTunes etc.)- the legal way. I could also resort to Bit Torrents but don't really subscribe to that. I rather buy the music but unfortunately my funds are very low. So, in a subsequent post, I may put up the album names I am missing and see if any of my daily readers can help me out. [...]

Whew... This series is seriously kicking my ass. This post brings us to forty out of sixty albums. And, I got to say, the remaining twenty are going to be hard for me to get my hands on. So, who knows, I may just try to get some help from you readers to properly finish off this series. Just may have to resort to getting some outside help. If you are just tuning in, these are sixty albums selected by Mojo Magazine's Classic Edition titled Britpop - sixty Greatest 90's Britpop albums. So, these are not [...]

Well, I did say that this was going to get interesting, the further along we get. In case, you are just tuning in, this series is taken from Mojo Magazine's Classic Edition - Britpop, featuring sixty Greatest 90's Britpop Albums. This post represents the half-way point in this series. With this post, I have covered thirty two out of the sixty albums. And, I will say that there are some bands/albums on this post that I was not at all familiar with. Namely, The Auteurs , Dodgy , Nick Heyward (solo) and [...]

Sorry about the lack of a post yesterday. Got caught up in a lot of family issues and had no computer time... Well, here we are at Part III of a VIII part series. And, I will say we are still on some familiar territory regarding the bands highlighted here. This post brings us to twenty four out of sixty albums picked by Mojo Magazine's special Classic edition which features 60 Greatest 90's Britpop albums. The key to that last sentence is albums not bands. Which is why you will see a repeat of some bands [...]

Well, here is Part II of what is going to turn out to be quite a long series. With this post, we have covered sixteen out of sixty albums picked by Mojo Magazine's Classic Collectors Edition titled Britpop, containing sixty Greatest 90's Britpop Albums. The sixteen albums I covered so far are pretty well known to most of us music fans. But, in the remaining forty-four, there are some surprises. And, I will have to admit, quite a few of those, I am not very familiar with at all. So, I hope that you will also [...]

Well, I thought I would take a stab at this. Like I said before, I like lists - especially the Best Of kind. For me the 90's are kind of a blur (no pun intended) to me. To be honest, I missed out on a lot of these bands and didn't get familiar with them until early 2000. I was married during the 90's and my wife did not have any passion for music which in turn, reflected back on me. I was forced constantly to listen to modern radio and did not experience some of these bands during that [...]

Image From Here Well, you can't call me on this one, because I did say, in a previous post, that I may throw in a personal post or two in-between other stuff.... The past few weeks have been ok since I have immersed myself in the music. But, even then, those past days have been a struggle. I sleep a lot and spend my waking hours on the computer. That is my life right now. And has been for quite awhile now. Docs are continually trying new meds on me and they have [...]

I don't know what it is about The Brian Jonestown Massacre but I find that people either like them a lot or just plain hate them. For me, I fall in the camp of loving their music. And, I should say that, when I talk about The Brian Jonestown Massacre , I am really talking about Anton Newcombe . He is the main driving force behind the band. And what I have gathered from reading about him, he is not the most easy character to get along with. Which explains the ever evolving members of the [...]

Image From Here If you have been reading MNG for awhile now, you will definitely know that I like lists. I am trained as an Electrical Engineer and was one for 18 years. I like order instead of chaos and things to be listed a certain way. It may be the fact of my formal Engineering training or more of the fact that I am somewhat an obsessive compulsive person. I have done many posts that feature lists like the Shoegaze top ten, 80's by year the band was formed (still gotta finish [...]

To be honest, I am not very familiar with the Americana genre of music. I guess it's because I get wrapped up in post punk, britpop, power pop, bedroom pop, lo-fi, 80's, 90's music etc. But, I will have to admit that these tracks below are very good. And, they have opened my eyes to this style of music. Now, admittedly, some of these artist's music doesn't actually fall into the Americana genre. Some are more on the side of psychedelica or just straight forward indie rock/pop. But, they represent some of the best new stuff coming out of North [...]
Well, here we are at the halfway point of this series. This post represents bands that were formed in 1984 (to the best of my knowledge and research). I am particulary fond of this year because some of the bands are in my all time favorite category. Notably, The Jesus & Mary Chain , My Bloody Valentine and Love and Rockets . I left out a couple more - Timbuk 3 (who gave us the hit "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades") and also The Del [...]
