Blogger Love

Blogger Love Time to let some blogger love flow out of this heart. Some wonderful new additions to the blogroll. Recommended by my blogging friend Chris at Local Vertical , this one is called Black Balloon . Don't worry about the spelling, it's intentional and this Suffolk, Virginia resident knows his music. Anyone with Black Flag in their playlist is allright by me. This one, extrawack! has a varied and exceptionally cool taste in music. And anyone who's got Let's Kiss And Make Up and [...]

I Am Awake Now

I Am Awake Now Sleep, something so desirous and necessary. Something so important to heal the body, the mind, the soul. I work, I eat, I sleep, I dream. The sleep has overridden my routine this weekend. There is none of the work, a little of the eat, a lot of the sleep, and way way too much of the dream. And my body crys out for more, more sleep, more dream, please sir more is needed. A huge cup of coffee sits before me, the beguiling force of sleep beckoning me to fall back to its wanton grasp - I fight the urge [...]

I Am Still There

I Am Still There I am still there, stuck in an endless loop of shoegazer droning guitars. Amusement Parks On Fire is from Nottingham, England and that is not the only reason to listen to this band. The band is the work of Michael Feerick, a young musical genius. At the age of 16, Feerick starting writing his first work titled Amusement Parks On Fire. Lacking a band, Michael chose to play all instruments himself and with a friend's help the album was recorded/mixed in a local studio. APOF's debut Blackout EP on V2 was released 2005 in the [...]

In My Dream I Was Nowhere

In My Dream I Was Nowhere Dreams, something I have always had an intense experience with in my life. Changing scenes, people, frustrations, misery and joy. Some I can easily put a handle on and truly make sense of. Some that linger and will stay with me for days. Most that are intense and seem to disappear like a cool summer breeze. Last night I was moving fast thru a myriad of experiences, challenging everything I saw and everyone I met. Caught up in moments that were far too confusing for my mind to remember, moments that forced me to awaken at least three times but [...]

The Television Personalities

The Television Personalities Formed in London 1977, The Television Personalities combined everything from pop to the psychedelic sound. Their third album 'They Could Have Been Bigger Than The Beatles' just about sums up their career. Never really reaching commercial success, the Personalities always seemed to languish in the background. Led by singer/songwriter Dan Treacy the Personalities influenced the C86 and Creation Records generation of artists. Treacy thru the years suffered from drug addiction, mental health problems and was recently released from prison . In spite of it all and after disbanding in 1991, Treacy -The Television Personalities are back with My Dark [...]

The Ecclesia

The inevitable happened to my home desktop computer. No matter how you try to protect computers these days, you are still vunerable to the bad shit that is on the internet. I was running Windows XP, Norton Anti-Virus, Firewall, Spyware removal programs, damn I even downloaded constant security patches to XP. But something got in and killed my whole system. Crash, bang, boom... It's reformat disk time. The bad part is the time it takes to fix it and all the files I lost... So, I needed some soothing after screwing with the computer for two evenings. [...]

That Shoegaze Sound

It is inevitable, my music mind will always circle back to the Shoegaze sound. No matter what music I am currently listening to, there will always have to be a shoegazer album among them. Maybe it's because I am part of another generation, maybe it's because my brain is tuned to swirling droning guitars, maybe it's the million times I have listened to Jesus & Mary Chain or the other million times that I have listened to My Bloody Valentine or Slowdive or, maybe it's none of that. So, whenever I browse the internet and run across a new shoegazer [...]

Pond Watershed

To this music listener Nada Surf's 2005 The Weight Is A Gift was somewhat of a disappointment. Yes, it was good but quite frankly, not great. Unfortunately for Nada Surf they were following up on a tremendous album, in fact (in my opinion) one of the best of 2002 - Let Go. It has got to be extremely difficult to follow up on something that good. Not many bands can repeat such perfection, not any come to mind quickly... In 2005, we also saw the new release from Matt Pond PA - Several Arrows Later. I have followed [...]

The Mood I'm In

Well, the week started out pretty good for the blog mainly based on what the hit counter said. I do appreciate everyone who stopped by and everyone who left a comment. I hope some of you put together a mix tape of Scottish and Irish bands. The work week has sapped my strength again and once more all I can seem to do is hibernate on the weekend, trying to recharge. New job, new state, away from my loved ones, always have some new change to adjust to. Not a very normal life compared to other's around [...]
