When fashionista Marisa Lynch was laid off from her job, her wardrobe budget went into decline. To circumvent her shrinking style stipend, she bravely swapped a year of Nordstroms and Saks for an intimate relationship with her sewing machine, bringing new life to otherwise trash bin bound frocks. Marisa vowed to expend just 365 dollars to revamp 365 outdated fashion faux pas in 365 days. Her new wardrobe additions are predominantly rescued from thrift stores and garage sales before undergoing total transformations via needle, thread, and an acute eye for potential. [...]
Valentin Stip is the next artist releasing under Nicolas Jaar's small label Clown and Sunsets . He was born in France, moved to New York and is now studying in Montréal. A lot of distance between the cities the 19 year old lived in so far. It seems like all this space is now transforming into his music, which dispenses of any kind of hectic. The Anytime Will Do EP is his first release ever but it's a masterpiece. Not because it seems so professionally thought [...]

Magic? Pretty close to it. Tape? Mixtape that is. Twelve? No idea. The Magician (if I got this right after checking out a couple of sites) is Stephen Fasano who use to be in Aeroplane . Also, be sure to check out over at Kitsune the new Twist Ep from Peter & The Magician that is a collaboration with Yuksek.

Since moving to PDX I have a new found love for the sun. In Hotlanta the sun was over bearing in the summer, so now I appreciate the sun when it comes out. Sun Glitters a.k.a Victor Ferreira picked a great time to drop his album ' Everything Could Be Fine ' on June 29th. Sunny weather sounds of surfing, hiking, boating or whatever summer activities you get involved in. Press play and hear the song Too Much To Lose to get your summer started off right. Sun Glitters - Too Much To [...]

Dubstep is everywhere these days. From club rooms to living rooms you can feel that beat coming from a mile away sometimes. Because of this rise in popularity we here at Day & Night like to keep the OG's and creative minds furthering the music with fresh new cuts and mixes posted up right here. Chris Tower still wants to know why his Spring Mini Mix we posted was so successful. I can answer that for you Chris. You know how to think [...]

Mux Mool from Brooklyn was tired. Tired of something most of us would be happy about being able to afford: travelling. It ate his soul, washed him out. He just couldn't stand it anymore; the crying babies, the snoring fat dudes, the stressfullness of businessmen. So he put on his headphones and created music which made him forget his sourroundings. That is J.Dilla stutterstep hip hop beats paired with influences of the L.A.- Beatscene's wonky sound. Fluent, airy the beats are those of a man in a hectic world who is able to escape. The [...]
Normally, I would be the last to admit that to so outre of a fixation as a foot fetish. After receiving so many compliments on the sassy state of my tootsies, however, I’ve become a proud spokesperson for spunky and stylish stockings. The feet are a forthcoming fashion venue all too often ignored. Fret not - the smart outfitters Sock It To Me deliver cosmopolitan comfort to your digits down-under. Whatever your pleasure, be it cupcakes, unicorns, UFO’s, bicycles, or tacos, they've got a [...]

The natural world pierces the pupils of Janessa Bork and bounces around her frontal lobe, a realm of depth and fantasy that digests the visual stimuli, augmenting it with vibrancy and finesse before it flourishes from her fingertips as passionate testimonies to her talent. Resulting are majestic, single panel, that’s-what-little-girls’- dreams-are-made-of storyboards - brilliant bursts of escape from the everyday, evoking whimsical wanderlust and ethereal aspirations. The natural world pales in comparison to these rich abstractions. Janessa's work mirrors her adoration for the playground of environmental wonder that is the [...]
At the end of the 802s DJ Nature was part of the legendary Wild Bunch . Ever since then he had love for house music and he recently took some time to skim through old records. Apparently, he found a mix containing nearly two hours of classic house from the likes of Kenny & Louie, MK, Kerri Chandler, Murk, Lil Louis and Pal Joey. Music so smooth you can just let it roll throughout the whole mix without one song destroying the laid-back vibes provided. [...]

It needs an early phone call or a door ring that wakes me at a time that I don't want to be awake to get me to switch on the TV. Then I lay there, zapping through programs until I find something that hypnotizes me. Something that is an okay replacement for the dreams I can't have anymore because some stupid fuck woke me up. This morning a documentation sure was better than the dreams I had before. It was about a romanian artist called Ion Barladeanu. He basically makes collages that [...]
Click here to view the embedded video. In June it is finally happening: The young bloods around World United Lucifer Youth Foundation, will finally release their debut album! Go Tell Fire To The Mountain is the name of the first album of the much talked about Manchester band, and we couldn't be more exciting. Their sound is still raw, it still sounds like the frontman is chanting away his inner feelings straight from his soul and heart but the new material sounds as if it was produced in [...]

Click here to view the embedded video. Chad VanGaalen is back in business with his newest album Diaper Island . Chad released the video for Peace on the Rise and the single ' Sara ' that will have you falling in love with anyone you know with the name Sara. Peace on the Rise is the art/animation of Chad VanGaalen , an I must say that I'm looking forward to watching this masterpiece with some mushrooms like Chad has in the video. There's more than mushrooms in Peace on [...]

A small party of Portland based creative geniuses are turning out truly unique accessories that epitomize the eco-chic aesthetic of the city. Portlanders are the lucky first to rock these gorgeous superfluous finger adornments that, in a squeeze, could potentially pose as semi-lethal weapons. The talented artisans known as Sticks & Stones lovingly craft each piece by hand, using reclaimed hardwoods (& antler, & shiny metals, &… diamonds!) whenever possible, which is fine by me. They finish each wearable work of art with a three-week curing process, to protect the new permanent fixture on [...]

It's a nicely done online portfolio covering a lot of subject matter. Overall his portraits look forced and uninspired. He makes up for them with his landscape and party photographs. Check out the gallery after the jump. [Show as slideshow] [...]
Last years Coachella Day 2 Mix from The Kickdrums was one of my favorite mixtapes from 2010. The way them start their mixes and transition into other tracks is a stroke of genius. Listen to the Coachella 2011 mix right here, right now to hear a bunch of the Coachella line up chopped and screwed. The Kickdrums - Coachella 2011 Mixtape

Moonchild (Antoine Lunaire) is starting to gain some solid momentum that will hopefully lead him to some big live DJ sets an a name anonymous with great House music. Moonchild is producing out of Sydney, Australia and has already supported a number of big names such as Bag Raiders and Tommie Sunshine. He gives his fans a big piece of his time, releasing regular mixtapes that always entice. He just released his latest mix recently and we thought we would share. If you really digg your House music don't miss this mix. For tracklist and some of his original [...]

Childish Gambino (Donald Glover - from NBC series Community ) is phenomenal, and I'm saying that because I don't have a better word to describe this dudes vibe. Childish Gambino's track "Break" - using all his artistic talents is going to upset every minority group in the world, probably piss you off with a couple delicately placed words, and will get you titling your head asking what the 'f' just happened. But (and its a big but), he produces an awesome hip-hop track, i.e. lyrics that will make you think coupled with a smooth beat. I must [...]

Alpine are a 6 piece indi-pop band beating out of Melbourne, Australia, and are starting to get some good airtime on non-commercial radio Downunder. My sis got me onto them quick smart, as they seems to be part of the wave of some great new pop bands in Oz. There current single "Villages" is getting many kids interested, an rightfully so, its a great pop-rock song... but that is just my opinion (which means little in real terms). Anyway, they have recently put their current [...]
