These are great. Originally linked via quipsologies, but I found it on creativereview. inspiring!
I decided to youtube my AP2 motion titles project for the Terry Gilliam movie "Brazil." It was fun, but it was definitely more of a learning experience than one of good design.
http://www.vector-lovers.com/ It's nice to come across something electronic that feels right. To sell Vector Lovers short.. I'd say it sounds like a cross between more ambient Aphex Twin meets Air abut the time of their first album. Mellow layered stuff. It makes me want to go watch Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis or maybe go through all of the [...]
It's in Manchester at a Bar, but anyhow -check it out.
One of the UMSL visiting artists/designers/etc. has a piece publishes on UnderConsideration site "Speak Up" about Graphic Designers being known as the 'Photoshop Guy'.. http://www.underconsideration. com/speakup/archives/002845.ht ml Marian Bantjes visits UMSL's Gallery 210 on March 31, 2008.
TheAtlantic.com has a somewhat short clip featuring Michael Bierut discussing type. I was skeptical of snobbery at first, only being familiar with his writing on Design Observer and nothing else. When the movie Helvetica brought him up visually and gave him another chance to speak his piece, my opinion changed. Entertaining. Period. Thoughtful and Creative. Period.
Here is Stephin Merritt on NPR. I had originally saved the podcast in iTunes some time in December but never bothered to watch/listen until a moment ago. I feel like it's worth mentioning. Here is Stephin Merritt's entry for NPR's "Project Song" section of the "All Songs Considered" program: Stephin Merritt - A Man of a Million Faces He's [...]

Here's a video of him playing "The Parade" and walking in Seattle at the Capitol Hill Block Party. This comes courtesy of La Blogotheque for Take Away Shows. He's got videos for every song on his latest album up on his website on the front page that are also worth a look and a listen.
Here's a Soft Focus interview with Kevin Shields. Supposedly the first of four vids. On the one hand, its good that news of this is accessible, but on the other.. I feel like I have absolutely no chance of seeing the band play live somewhere. (i.e. SOLD OUT)
"Ego Trippin' is the ninth studio album by Long Beach, California based rapper Snoop Dogg that will be released in 2008." I don't listen to a lot of rap. This is the sort of thing that immediately piques my interest:
So Radiohead had a webcast on November 9th and I didn't know a thing about it til a few hours ago. Here are a couple of Youtube videos of the webcast: Left side is Reckoner, a song from the new album. Right side is "Ceremony", which is a Joy Division song but was released as the first New [...]
I've been listening to a lot of Tim Buckley for the past month. Although it isn't my favorite song of his, "Song to the Siren" is one of the better songs. Here it is on youtube being covered by Damon & Naomi, which is a newer musical pairing that has relation(they were 2/3) to the [...]
