Can't find too much info on Norway's Tony Jacobsen other than his stage name " We Are Monsters " and a few cool tracks. His soundcloud page highlights offers a slew of original remix and edit choices, he's redone a few italo songs, some obscure 80s pop, and some indie numbers and they all sound a-ok. In 2012 Swedish group Karl X Johan won a Grammy for " best music video " they have quite a following in Europe but of course the US market hasn't caught up. They just released a new EP last month of off Sweden's Emotion label. Now's a good time to get familiar. Posted by: Laura of Miami

Tonight we have the pleasure of hosting one of the American electronic music pioneers, The Egyptian Lover. Straight from LA, this dude was dropping bass before many of us were even born. If you're in the Miami area, stop by and perhaps snag a copy of our [...]

And now for a little deep house. Irish DJ/producer Gavin Herlihy has released tracks off of the most notable house labels of our time: Visionquest, Crosstown Rebels, Culprit, Leftroom, Cocoon, Cadenza, Get Physical and Buzzin Fly. I'm particularly fond of his original style within the now almost mainstream deep house realm and always enjoy the vocal samples in his productions. Bio: Now based in the UK’s capital of house music, Leeds, Herlihy (pronounced Herl-I-hee) is an established feature on the global DJ circuit. [...]

The folks over at Scenery Records have been kind enough to assemble a split titled We Held On with Deep Space Orchestra and Bantam Lions . If you're in the mood for some steady & spacey house music, I recommend dropping the dough for this one. For me the stand-out track is DSO's Arif , filled with strong tribal percussion and psychedelic synths. Check it out HERE [...]

I picked this record up in San Francisco at the legendary Amoeba store. There's a good mix of disco and some acidy stuff. The EP sounds like it could have been put out in either 1970-something or 90-something and the Phuture cover is pretty cool. Upon further investigation I found that this is... "The first E.P. from DIY Brooklyn’s DUST, ‘Past Future’, is a dark tale of disco disquietude starring the cosmic diva Angela Chambers on Side A and Seoul/Brooklyn based Greem Jellyfish with a cover of Phuture’s ‘Your Only Friend’ on the [...]

Yesterday Mount Kimbie released their sophomore album Cold Spring Fault Less Youth off Warp Records and after a few listening sessions, I have to agree with my friend and cohort Gooddroid when she said that "the future of bass music is not bass music." Of course, that's an bold statement to make, but it's very clear that for Mount Kimbie, a post-rock-ish trajectory is there. The album is beautifully constructed with an careful balance of atmospheric and unusual sounds [...]

Some great edits for your Sunday. You can find Slow It Down slowing it down all over European dance floors this summer (although their music isn't really that slow). We love their edits and more so love that lots of them are available fo free. Bio: Slow It Down are two Glasgow based DJ/producers who joined musical forces through a mutual love of obscure Boogie, Disco, House and Red Stripe lager. Their unhealthy obsession with the 80′s [...]

I think now would be a great time to announce to all our local Miami followers that one of my favorite re-edit aficionados, Alkalino , will be gracing us with his presence on September 4th at my Mutant Beat Supper Club weekly. And as we planned to make this announcement, he just happened to drop this great edit of obscure German pop group Hong Kong Syndikat. The original track, titled Samba Olec , is just such a bouncy track complete with a steady acoustic guitar strum and sax solo; [...]

These guys' edits will blow you away and make you shake that rump. Hailing from Bern, Switzerland Mel and Simon aka Mercury produce everything from remixed classics to deep house gems. Read the full article for some of our favorite freebies. Bio: Mercury is two guys. Mel, a former Hip-Hop DJ who recently discovered his love for gay rock music and influenced 80s synthesizer pop. Then Simon, actually a drummer who is still deep into UK 2-step [...]

BPitch does it again. We highly recommend Safety Scissors' new LP In A Manner Of Sleeping for your personal music rotation. Lots of great new albums have been released in the last few weeks so don't let this one slip through the cracks Bio: In the early stages of Matthew Patterson Curry's musical adventures he was surrounded by the likes of Kit Clayton, Sutekh, Twerk, Kid 606, and Matmos, the San Francisco [...]

Back in March, we had the pleasure of booking the boys of PBR Streetgang for an amazing shindig at the SoHo Beach House and we've since kept in touch. Tonight they're back in town to play at the newly re-opened Electric Pickle . Here's a little chat we had. Check out their US Tour schedule below along with their latest Autobrennt mix. The first track of yours that caught my attention was your remix of Odyssey's classic 'Inside Out,' though recently it's [...]

More excellent output from this infamous studio that Prins Thomas, Todd Terje, Lindstom, and the rest reportedly share. This time it's Andre Bratten 's turn to bask in his own Scandinavian brilliance. His new album "Be A Man You Ant" is a journey into another dimension of lush synthy disco. The sound is, of course, characteristic of the Norwegian, and specifically the Full Pupp label: layers of tingling synths subtly placed over each other with rubbery bass lines masterfully composed for patient ears. [...]

Yup that's what she said (oh yes we did). Tropical French touch and some pretty nifty edits. Check this guy out for frozen drink background music or for nu disco dance floor goodies. C'est très bon! Bio: She said disco , young french artist from Orléans, produce his unique disco-house sound, sensual and aerial, for some years now. His music is a taste of distilled love, an introduction to trip, to enjoy life. After many remixes, he finally decided [...]

Toulouse's Thierry Moreira, Nicolas Sentenac, Henning Specht aka Hypnolove are releasing a new album titled "Ghost Carnival" (click to purchase) on May 13th. I'm particularly interested in this one as one of my fav disco personalities Mickey Moonlight (Ed Banger) produced the whole thing. "Come to My Empire" is the first single off the LP, it includes an amazing remix by Moonlight himself as well as mixes by Bufi & La Royale, Arpanet, and Turzi. Biography [...]

We hope you've already found out about Midnight Magic playing at Scaramouche tomorrow night (Saturday May 4th) , if you haven't - it's true. Scaramouche is not a reference to the Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" it's a tribute to the disco hay days in Miami. In the late 70s and early 80s, the disco craze and emergence of contemporary club culture manifested itself in the Omni Hotel just north of Downtown Miami. The name of the party was Scaramouche, hosted by local legend Bo Crane and commandeered by resident DJ, Joe Lenders. This members [...]
