GFP headed along to the Louisiana in Bristol last week to catch the dreamy wonderment of Still Corners. The four-piece band treated us to a host of tracks from last years stunning Creatures On An Hour LP in all their mesmerising glory. Check out a selection of snaps from the night below. [...]

Written by Caitlin Gwynn Meet Adventure Gallery , coming to you from Portland, Oregon, an American city infamous when it comes to music. The six-piece band recently recorded their debut album with Dave Trumfio, whose impressive producing portfolio includes Wilco and The Jesus and Mary Chain, amongst others. The album is entitled “Anywhere That’s Wild”, and is set to be released sometime over the next few months. Adventure Gallery are one of those brilliant bands that successfully manage to meld more than a few genres into one song, splicing together [...]

Written by Antonella Azzollini These Waters is the name of the first EP by Flowers or Razorwire (aka Thom Sgarangella) and is released on Snowy Peach . Coming from the south of Italy, Thom has been playing and composing music since an early age. His solo project (he also plays drums in a band called Eels on Heels ) started in his bedroom during the summer of 2009. The name, he says, comes from the pleasant idea of two opposite things combined and sounding good together: the [...]

Erika M Anderson, who made one of our favourite records of last year, has released a brand new song and video, with all proceeds going to an anti-bullying charity. Take One Two is out now as a digital release (buy it here ) and Erika has made a video to accompany it and has also written this rather special intro for it... “This footage comes from a South Dakota trailer park in the mid-90s, and features a small group of freaks and misfits who seem to be [...]

27th February will see the release of Chapel Song , the new single from Brooklyn's We Are Augustines. Following on from the success of their debut single Book Of James, the single precedes the UK release of the bands debut LP Rise Ye Sunken Ships (released in the US last year), which will see the light of day on these shores on March 5th. The band play a decent amount of European shows over the next few weeks in support of the release. You can check them out [...]
Love Was Always Cruel, It Just Wasn't Cruel To Me is the new song from 19yr-old Mancunian Jordan Bolton . Following on from two EP's - Jazz Hands (2010) and Silver Age (2011) - Love... is the first of three new songs he's set to release over the next three months and is an impressive slice of laid-back, melancholia-tinged indie-rock with enough down-beat Northern charm to keep you entertained throughout. If you like what you hear then head over to his Soundcloud page to [...]

by Kathleen Elise Hailing from Oxfordshire, Deer Chicago have already made a name for themselves playing at events like Riverside Festival in 2010 and Cornbury Festival in 2011. Last November, they released their double A-side ‘Lantern Collapse/Rolling of the Ocean,’ a set of songs that manage to remain distinct while simultaneously showcasing the band’s signature sound. ‘ Lantern Collapse ’ is at times reminiscent of Band of Horses, only Deer Chicago’s lead vocalist Jonathan Payne undoubtedly has a more appealing accent and perhaps even a more agreeable tone. In ‘Rolling of the Ocean,’ a gentle tension [...]

Oh bloody hell, bands. In you come with your albums and live shows and your fun times and we lap it all up and assume it will last forever and then one day you, just like that, you're gone. The latest band to call it a day is the wonderful Cats & Cats & Cats. It takes a special kind of band to leave you with a memory of when you first heard them, but I can still distinctly recall lying on the floor of my crappy little bedsit with my headphones on (oh hi, indie [...]

The mighty Johnny Foreigner have announced a slew of UK dates in March, their first full tour since the release of last years stunning Vs Everything LP. The band have also announced that Vs Everything will be released as a double-vinyl on Alcopop! in April. The vinyl set will include the album in full spread across three sides, with the fourth side featuring all the B-Sides from the Vs Everything singles. The artwork will be ridiculously stunning too, we assume. Those dates in full [...]

Bath Brother/Sister-duo Hysterical Injury release their sparkling debut album this week. Dead Wolf Situation comes after three years spent honing their craft on the live circuit, a journey which has seen them compared to the likes of Sleater Kinney , Sonic Youth and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. It's certainly been time well spent. Dead Wolf Situation is a stunning debut and a giant leap forward for the band, Annie's bass sounding more possessed - and brilliantly utilised - than ever before. However, it's not just musically that the band have matured. [...]

We've been smitten with Glasgow's wonderful Admiral Fallow ever since we saw them supporting Frightened Rabbit at the back end of 2010, so we were delighted today when the band announced details of a comprehensive UK tour. It kicks off on April 22nd in Gourock and the busy schedule sees the band on the road for the whole of May. The tour is set to coincide with the release of the group's second album; the follow up to the frankly gorgeous Boots Met My Face. You can currently get your hands on Beetle in [...]
Last years Lull EP was one of the most promising releases that caught out ears in 2011. Deaf Club , a young Welsh five-piece, have now followed up that record with a brand new single in the form of the bewitching Sunday . The song will be released digitally, as a AA-side with Mirrors, on February 20th ahead of a cassette EP - more details of which will be released soon. Much like the Lull EP, Sunday is an edgy and unhinged blast of off-kilter pop, the guitars [...]

Atmospheric indie-rock hasn't had it easy over the last couple of years. When it's good it can be truly great; with its gloomy vocals, driving bass lines and dark synth-y undercurrents. However, it's fair to say that the genre hasn't been well represent recently, with a number of high-profile/low quality releases. Torches are a London-based quintet who have arrived on the scene sounding primed for success. Their music certainly creates that genuine sense of dark atmosphere that is so important, yet so hard to get right. The first few songs to creep out from them [...]

Artist : All The Saints Title : Intro To Factions Label : Touch And Go Records Release Date : January 29th BUY IT Written by Tomas Dickinson Last week Atlanta's shoegazing psych-rock three piece All The Saints released their hypnotic new album ' Intro into Fractions ', the follow-up to 20082s Fire On Corridor [...]

Liam McCormack is a 27-year old from Boston. When his current band was coming to an end, he jumped into a camper van and went off for around the US writing songs and generally living the travelers life. Since that trip, Liam has relocated to Brooklyn and in November he put out his charming new record, Missing, under his Yellowbirddd moniker. We caught up with Liam to chat about his music, his campervan trip and the Mayan apocalypse... Hi! How are you and where in the world are [...]

I know I probably sound like a broken record but I'm always constantly staggered by the amount of amazing music that gets sent our way here at GFP. Seriously, if youre just dipping in and out of this then you seriously can't even imagine just how much stuff we don't even get to cover, let alone the stuff that just slips under the radar. Every so often though something comes along that doesn't just need writing about, it needs screaming about from every possible rooftop. A couple of nights ago my buddy Josh Dalton - who writes for and [...]

The latest band to associate themselves with the ever-brilliant Bristol DIY label, Howling Owl Records (Spectres, Towns, The Naturals) is the helluva-noisy trio Falling Stacks. Influenced by the likes of Shellac, Fugazi et al, the band make loud, scuzzy rock music - the like of which the city is currently excelling at. The members of Falling Stacks are also 3/4 of the crew behind monthly Bristol club night I'm Not Yelling , and it was there that they first met up with the guys behind Howling Owl . Ahead [...]
