If a band manages to get over 1802ooo views on myspace, it doesn't have to mean much. But if the band manages to get all these views without even having posted a song yet, there must be something special about it. MONA is a Nashville, Tennesse based alternative rock four-piece lead by charismatic singer Nick Brown which is waiting for their debut single to be released. Rumour has it that the band has written about 750 songs over the past 12 months, and after having heard a first demo I really think they should record [...]

Should we describe this sound as "Shoewave" or "Surfgaze"? Or another name? It's quite hard to categorize Veronica Falls sound. I like the description Drowned In Sound did some time ago: "This is indie of a very particular, very British, timeless and guileless sort, and it's also enough to remind a person why they plumped for plaid over pop in the first place. Terrific." Anyway, the ramshackle four-piece (bassist Marion learned to play in a month) is about to [...]

Hailing from Kentucky, The Pass have been getting lots of attention for their debut EP, Colors, released back in March. Their brand of indie pop hat marries Manner's synthesized fervor and Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix's endearing warmth. Over the last six months the band has worked on their full-length debut Burst with mixing engineer Alex Aldi, whose latest works include Suckers' Wild Smile , Passion Pit's Manners , Harlem Shakes' Technicolor Health , and The Walkmen's You & Me . Well, Burst is all wrapped up [...]
Yeasayer 's Odd Blood has been growing on me the last six months, as at first I was only really digging "Ambling Alp". Listening to it these days make me realize how amazing this album is. There are so many good songs on it and their new single "Madder Red" is definitely one of the best. So it's even nicer to see that Yeasayer now released a video for it, a Andreas Nilsson -directed clip featuring actress Kristen Bell and a very gross-looking, very sick blob thing. mp3 | Madder Red
Being asked about their formation, Chicago based dream-poppers Panda Riot would probably tell you that at the beginning there was 3 of them. Brian Cook, Rebecca Scott and a drum machine. This was some years ago. In the meantime they've added two more humans to the line-up, played a lot of shows, released two really nice EP's and became one of the favourite hypem-acts back in 2008 with their cover of M.I.A.'s Paper Planes. The last EP Far And Near was released back in May and allows you to just lay down and to [...]

Warning: Do not listen to GOBBLE GOBBLE if you don't have enough time to! It might just annoy or disturb you! San Francisco-via-Canada musician Cecil Frena must be totally crazy judged by his tunes. I mean, if you're music sounds like a mongrel of Xiu Xiu, Postal Service and a Nintendo-64-soundtrack, you might easily have taken too many drugs. But as much as I try, I can't help listening to this crazy songs. These chiptune beats & melodies combined with Cecil's voice are just too addictive! It doesn't surprise that also Teen Daze has [...]

Last time I posted about Sean Carey , founding member & drummer of Bon Iver, his debut record was still over a month away. Now there are only a few days left until All We Grow is out on the 24th of August on Jagjaguwar . As a little present Sean has now given the lovely "In The Stream" away for free. It's a lovely description of an endless journey down a stream. mp3 | In The Stream

He's beeing hyped on all the popular blogs, doesn't stop releasing new tunes and is part of the last guerolitoplaylist. This man doesn't do anything wrong. Haha No, but serious. This one man project from Vancouver is spitting out dreamy electronica that really made my summer! If I should name a favourite act in the actual "Chillwave"-movement, it definitely be him Teen Daze. "June 20103 is a song exclusively given to an EP that coincides with a Heart Music Group show in Los Angeles next [...]

I don't want to loose to many words about this new Beck song, which he contributed to the Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Soundtrack. ( As recently reported ) It reminds me of Sea Change - era, and it's just amazing. Also check out the short acoustic version! mp3 | Ramona mp3 | Ramona (Acoustic Version)
The band's name may sound like an ode to the Alemannians, but in fact Drew Harris, the man behind Germany Germany is hailing from Canada. Still in his very early twenties, Drew shows no fear of experimenting with all sorts of (electronic) sounds and masterly combines them with his guitar and female voices. If I had to define his style of music it would be something between Crystal Castles and Swedens own Slagsmålsklubben and as I like these two bands a lot, Germany Germany doesn't do much wrong. Drew is currently working [...]

It goes quick quick quick! Just after signin to Epitaph Records for the release of their new album Hurley, Alt-rock-oldies Weezer present us a first single called "Memories". The song is nothing special really, I'd even say it's really bad, but to be honest I didn't expect too much after the last records they did. But anyway, perhaps you might like it! mp3 | Memories
In today's music world it's not too usual to see/hear two brothers of Filipino decent playing great indie rock. But it seems like Toronto, where Art & Michael Imperial grew up, is quite a good ground to start a new band these days (See Young Empires). And Strider Hero definitely have the skills and the tunes to be one of the next big names! Listening to Strider Hero's tunes is like enjoying a delicious soft ice cream on a lovely, warm summer evening. They combine catchy melodies with smooth drums to a crunchy waffle and on [...]

Washington State four-piece The Lonely Forest caught the ear of Death Cab For Cutie's Chris Walla, who not only signed them to his new label, Trans, but also produced, engineered, and mixed their debut EP and upcoming LP, Arrows . I really digged their last album, especially the song "We Sing In Time", perhaps even one of my favourite songs from last year (The video of frontman John Van Deusen performing it acoustically live is one of my all-time favs!). And with the first cut from the new record they totally satisfy [...]

Robyn 's whole Body Talk adventure seems to get better and better. After a marvellous first EP, Body Talk Pt1 , which I highly recommend, Body Talk Pt2 is almost here. And the new songs seem to be a nice sequel to the first EP: The first single "Hang With Me" is already confirmed (check the video out below) and now Robyn presents us another new track called "U Should Know Better" which features the one and only Snoop Doggy Dog! What's your opinion after a first listen? Tell me! Body Talk Pt2 [...]

Antony Hegarty and his companions seem to have spent a lot of time in the studio the last months, not only to produce a new EP called Thank You For Love but also an entire new album named Swanlights . The first song we get to hear of this sessions is the beautiful orchestrated "Thank You For Your Love", the title track of the EP and also a part of the new LP. The EP will also feature some covers. Antony and his Johnsons tried their luck on John Lennon's "Imagine", and also [...]

Devendra and Beck have teamed up to write song called "Life During Wartime" which will be part of Todd Solondz upcoming movie of the same title . While Devendra's voice is clearly dominant, Beck's doing experimental things on different instruments and contributes the background voice. Want do you want more than two of your most loved musicians getting together to write a song for a movie? Grab a rip of an online stream below, it's not too bad quality! mp3 | Life During Wartime

Mark Oliver Everett, aka Mr.E of Eels never seems to get tired. After Hombre Lobo last year and End Times early this year, he already releases his next album! Although it's not out yet, two new songs have made their way through the internet to please you. Both of them are comparatively positive tracks as compared to the downcast of End Times. It feels good to have the "real" Eels back, man! The new album will be called Tomorrow Morning and is out Aug 24th [...]

"Terrible Man" is probably my favourite cut off Wintersleep 's last album New Inheritors. I already shared the song in my May playlist, but actually it really deserves its own post. It t doesn't take long for this tune to burrow its way into your psyche. New Inheritors is available via OneFourSeven Records in Europe. mp3 | Terrible Man

Sometimes you just prefer some rough, screaming voice to all these female lo-fi pop voices. Some people choose Post-Hardcore or punk tunes for such moments - others just prefer some rough sounding indie rock with nice melodies. A perfect example for this kind of music is LA-based Funeral Party , a young band that will soon release their first album. On this debut you'll also find "Finale", which may remind you of old We Are Scientists tunes! mp3 | Finale

This song dominated the hypem charts for the last days, with over 1300 hearts so far. And listening to it you'll probably understand why. It's almost not possible not to like this fuckin' chatchy tune lead by the singer's, Sameer Gadhia, arena-sized voice and some stinging guitar work. This song by Young The Giant will surely find its way to my years end list! mp3 | My Body
