Concerning his beats, french beatmaker Charles Boyd is really faithfull to his alias Lord Boyd . Of all his tunes so far it's "Versailles Beat" which impresses me the most. Over the comfortable beat it always sounds like a fanfare of trumpets in front of the Palace of Versailles is about to be played. But Lord Boyd only uses small fragments of the fanfare and loops & samples them in a terrific way! Head over to his SoundCloud to grab some more tunes! mp3 | Versailles Beat

Seapony is a three-piece based in Seattle which live up their love for the music of the 50ies and 60ies in their own songs. Lo-fi at its finest! They're about to release a 7″ called "Dreaming" with two new songs. The 7″ is coming out on November 15th via Double Denim Records . It’s limited to 300 copies, and the first 150 will be on colour vinyl. Pre-Order it here . Don't miss their free debut EP on bandcamp ! mp3 | Dreaming Seapony - Dreaming [...]

Imagine America before it was conquered by the Europeans... Wilderness as far as the eye can see, only a few indians passing by on their horses in the early morning when the sun slowly rises. Now listen to Delaware based two-piece Mean Lady 's "Indian Sun" and you'll agree with me that it would be the perfect soundtrack for such a scenery. Download their actual Kid Friendly EP over at Bandcamp for free! mp3 | Indian Sun

I'm not really into cars, but this one absolutely blew my mind. Range Rover , three teenagers from San Diego, work with "guitar loops, 8-track recordings, synthesizers, and even iPod apps" (via) to create beautiful lo-fi songs. Check out two of them, "Mind" and "Soda", below. mp3 | Mind mp3 | Soda

I didn't really expect some fresh and energetic indie rock, when I first heard of Brooklyn's Dream Band . But their song "Mr. Shaking and Pills to Judge" absolutely caught me on first listen. Go buy their selftitled EP on Bandcamp and get three songs, that seem to a perfect dream for real! mp3 | Mr. Shaking and Pills to Judge

One of my favourite extroverted singers, Patrick Wolf , has a new single called "Time Of My Life" on the way for a December 6 release. It's already presented now along with a little lyrics video Patrick created himself. The song sounds exactly how I wished a new song of his to sound like! Patrick Wolf's follow up album to The Bachelor , entitled The Conqueror , is due for release in May 2011.

The weekend is almost here and it seems like I just discovered the absolutely perfect soundtrack to it. "Energy" and "Magic" are two brand new tracks of Montauk , a bloody talented electronic duo from Stockholm, Sweden. Check them out below! mp3 | Energy mp3 | Magic
Off his last studio album The Wild Hunt comes The Tallest Man On Earth 's actual single "Love Is All", which is one of many great tracks on the record. The video belonging to it is created from old holiday films, most of them recorded in Central European countries. The Wild Hunt is out via Dead Oceans . mp3 | Love Is All

Strumming guitars aren't normally a sign for beautiful indie folk-pop. But Austin's Nicole Schneit who writes songs under the moniker Air Waves can prove you wrong. "Knockout" the opener to her upcoming album Dungeon Dots has not only these strums but also a bittersweet melody. This song is something special indeed. Dungeon Dots will be out November 30 via Underwater People . mp3 | Knockout ( via )

You might remember our last post about Sea Of Bees , the project of Julie Baenziger from Sacramento. "Woods" which sounds still quite Scandinavian to me somehow, is now followed by the gorgeous "Wizbot". Again Julie did everything right, she wrote a dreamy song which is slowly built up, starting with only her voice and the guitar and later being accompanied by the percussion departement. Magnificent! mp3 | Wizbot

Dirty Gold is a young band out of San Diego, California. I haven't heard of them before, but their song "California Sunrise" has definitely caught me. Two soft voices, laid-back percussion and synths harmonizing perfectly - really makes me wanna enjoy the Californian summer sun. The feeling gets even strenghtend by the nicely fitting video done by Panaframe . mp3 | California Sunrise
I'm deeply impressed by Birgit Suitsu , who filmed, directed and edited this unoffical music video for Small Black 's track "Photojournalist" with no previous experience. This is art! mp3 | Photojournalist

Twin Shadow 's debut album Forget , that we wrote about here , has finally been released two weeks ago. To our luck, there's more to come. Namely a limited 7 track bonus CD, including remixes and some pretty amazing collaboration songs. You can get the whole thing over Rough Trade and check out the pretty dancable track "A Place We Like" below. It is performed together with NY's Hooray For Earth . Cheers, guys! mp3 | A Place We Like
I don't know why, but I still can't get enough of all these retro style music videos, that we got to see all summer. Well, here's another one. It features "Trust", the beautiful new single of New Orleans' indie pop three piece Generationals . Their new EP, which is called the same, will be out on November 16th via Park The Van . mp3 | Trust
Formerly called You Say Party (We Say Die), the band shortened their name due to their drummer Devon Clifford's death on stage back in April. It's really nice to see that the band found their own way to come to terms with Devon's death: They went back on tour and just released a remix album of their last record XXXX . "Lonely's Lunch" is one of the great songs of the last album, check out the nice video, dedicated to Devon Clifford! mp3 | Lonely's Lunch
I actually never thought that something like this would ever happen! Crystal Castles teamed up with The Cure 's Robert Smith to record a remix of their own song "Not In Love". This track makes me wanna steal my girlfriend's eyeliner and go party in a graveyard! Ace! This new version of "Not in Love" is the A-side of a single due out December 6 on Fiction mp3 | Not In Love (feat. Robert Smith)

Sex Beet is a young band hailing from London that has caught my attention by a mail they sent me. They've released some quite nice tracks so far and were now asked by Best Coast to support them on their upcoming UK tour! Check the dates on their myspace ! It's nice to see that Sex Beet are offering their new song "Sugar Sweet" for free, as it's a nice surf tune which definitely reminds of Wavves! mp3 | Sugar Water

photo by Across & Down Once more the playlist summarizes the music posted here last month and adds some more great tunes you did not know before! Yellow Ostrich - WHALE 4. Warpaint - Undertow 5. Houses - Soak It Up 6. Kelley Stoltz - Ventriloquist 7. Trophy Wife [...]

Beloved Swedish singer Lykke Li is finally back with new stuff, a song that will be part of her upcoming album. The record is yet to be named, though. It was again recorded with Peter Bjorn And John 's Bjorn Yttling. "Get Some", the first single, has an uptempo beat, Lykke Li's beautiful voice and is catchy as hell. The song quite reminds me of Emiliana Torrini's "Jungle Drum" somehow. Also check out the quiet b-side "Paris Blue". The 7" single can be ordered, limited to 500 copies, from Rough Trade here . [...]
