Satellite Stories are four daring satellite heroes from the arctic city of Oulu, Finland, consisting of Weather-Satellite (vocals/guitar), TV-Satellite (guitar), Search & Rescue-Satellite (bass/vocals) and Navigation-Satellite (drums). As well as wrestling with polar bears, they also seem to like writing catchy party songs. These words come from the band itself, showing you that the young lads seem to have a good sense of humour. And this cheekiness and nimbleness is definitely embossing their music, a combination of their influences Two Door Cinema Club, The Wombats and Vampire Weekend. Mayhaps not the most profound music, but in this case this doesn't [...]
“Indianer” is a weekly show on the Lucerne local radio station 3fach . It’s a show bringing you new tunes from all different types of indie music. It airs every thursday night from 8-10 pm (Central European Time). This time we were talking about a lot of different things and there’s new music from The Walkmen , Dungen , Maximum Balloon and Siskiyou and the Canadian label Constellation Records . [...]
"Solid Ground" is probably one of my songs of this year, so it's really nice to see that Maps And Atlases did a video for it. It features their singer lying in a boat and the other bandmembers standing at the shore of the lake. It matches the song perfectly! mp3 | Solid Ground
Basque synth- wizards Delorean are finally releasing a video to their single "Real Love". The video features dogs, more exactly dogs that are in love. Somehow odd and absurd but also quite lovely in a special way. Nice work by Focus Creeps ! Delorean's recent album Subiza is out via True Panther . mp3 | Real Love

"When I Come Home" was only released as a bonus track on The Drums self-titeled debut album this year, although I think it's one of the better tracks of the ones we didn't know before. It's a beautiful, blurry jaunt to the beach, perfectly matching the ending summer. Now it seems like the song is getting more attention, some blogs even mention that it will be the next single of the, for now, 3 Brooklyn boys. Rumour has it that Adam Kessler left the band for reasons unknown some days ago. Well well, summer is over, [...]
"Helicopter", a slow and dreamy track from Deerhunter 's forthcoming Halcyon Digest , now has a video. The clip is five minutes of frontman Bradford Cox singing directly into the camera, in tight black-and-white close-up, while other stuff flashes onscreen in double-exposure. It's sort of an incredibly indie-fied take on Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U" video , except no teardrop. (via Pitchfork) Update : Download the song below! Halcyon Digest arrives September 28 from 4AD . mp3 | Helicopter

CHOO CHOO is a indie pop four piece from Berne, Switzerland, which already managed to create quite a nice fanbase with their self-titeled debut back in 2008. Now the 3 guys & the girl went back to to the studio with Kalle Gustafsson (Mando Diao, Shout Out Louds, Whitest Boy Alive) to record a sophomore record called Cannes. As a little teaser for the new album they're now giving away a song for free. It's called "It's A Good Thing" and is a nice & catchy indie pop tune, without the band reinventing their sound. [...]

Back in June I posted the song " Telephone Static " by the two piece garage/disco band from Melbourne, The Peep Tempel . Now their label Arbitrage Records sent me over a new song by the duo. Again it's a rough & tight garage rock song with catchy guitar riffs, which shows the bands best side. Welcome to the wild side, baby! Buy the Fatboy 7" via Arbitrage . mp3 | Fatboy

I was pretty disappointed about the last Kings Of Leon album Only By The Night , it wasn't a bad album though but I just expected more from the guys. Even though I didn't give them up, their old stuff just meant too much to me. Now KOL are about to release a new album, their fifth up to now, called Come Around Sundown . And after having heard a radio rip of the first single "Radioactive" I must say that I'm really surprised of the song. It's a typical KOL rocker, but with [...]

I probably should have gone to bed as I'm really tired at this moment. But I really have to share one more track that made its way into my inbox some days ago. "Your Four Limbs" by London-based quintet Kurran And The Wolfnotes is a wonderful folk-pop song starting with only Kurran Karbal and his acoustic guitar, slowly building up and peaking with the band members singing all together in the chorus. It's a lovely jam and I'm really looking forward to hear more from these guys! The single is available for pre-order via [...]

Some of you might already know that I started hosting a weekly show on the local radio station 3fach . It's a show bringing you new tunes from all different types of indie music. It airs every thursday night from 8-10 pm (Central European Time). As not everybody has the possibility to hear it live every week, I'm going to post the current tracklist , a stream , some mp32s , interviews and also information about the show. This time [...]

My man Laurin from REES / INDIE MUSIC recently did a post about English indie-pop four piece Everything Everything . I really enjoyed listening their songs, especially "MY KZ, UR BF" (My Keys, Your Boyfriend) . The song opens their debut album with unrivaled confidence, combining R&B, acapella, and synth pop. Definitely a special combination! Buy their album over at amazon . mp3 | MY KZ, UR BF

It's been over a year since the xx released their hugely successful debut full-length, and the group's sparse tunes are still getting the remix treatment. This time around, it's Barcelona house alchemist John Talabot , taking on the ultra low-key album cut "Shelter", adding some Balearic touches and (really low) bass rumbles. (via Pitchfork & John Talabot's Twitter ) Had to wait for a proper mp3 for a long time, only had the stream, but finally it's hear to enjoy! Great! mp3 | Shelter (John Talabot's 'Feel It Too' Remix)

The London newcomers Summer Camp will release their debut EP Young in two days. Now a new song has appeared on the interwebs. It's called "Veronica Sawyer" and is quieter than the already posted "Jake Ryan", sounding more like "Ghost Train". The EP can be pre-ordered via Moshi Moshi here ! mp3 | Veronica Sawyer

Oh man, this song is dope! After having heard it for the first time over at Jonk Music I was caught. "Digging Holes" is off Mexico — the latest EP from Madison folk-popsters Icarus Himself — and totally blew me away its picked guitar riff, the off-beat piano and mariachi trumpets. God, I can even hear a flute playing in the background. Slightly reminds me of Beirut, but it's really too good to compare it with anything. Download the song below! Purchase Mexico-EP via Science Of [...]

"Helicopter", a slow and dreamy track from Deerhunter 's forthcoming Halcyon Digest , now has a video. To watch it, head over to this site and click on the passage from band-beloved writer Dennis Cooper. (via Pitchfork) Halcyon Digest [...]

Live at Kalibou Beach are an electro duo from Dresden, Germany who “like guitars, some screaming, toy guns, stars and jumping in pools”. This eccentricity is certainly replicated in their music, a rather quirky, uplifting but industrial brand of electro pop with flashes of 8-bit blips. They followed-up last years debut album Brilliant Eyes with Herz Esbjerg last August. While their older songs definitely remind of Crystal Castles, the new ones they sent me over seem to be a bit different. It sounds like Live At Kalibou [...]
Well, after over two years The Wombats are back with a single called "Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)". The song received a glorious global premiere on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 where it was named the Hottest Record In The World and was swiftly followed by the news that their October tour dates sold out almost immediately. I don't know, but to me the song doesn't seem too special...
