Here's a new track and video from Brooklyn band Tubetops , who recently released this song with Kyiki, the solo project of Crystal Fighter's Ellie Fletcher. Using field recordings of New York City traffic, smashing light bulbs, and dim bars, Tubetops creates a mysterious and haunting sonic environment in which Fletcher's vocals find a perfect home. Tubetops is performing this Friday (9/21) with Heloise & The Savoir Faire and The Kolour Kult at Union Pool, October 17th at the Alphabet Lounge for CMJ, and November 2nd at Cake Shop. The video, directed by Dan Kagan, [...]

According to a quick google search Sky Ferreira is quite the Renascence woman. She has dabbled in acting, singing, modeling...heck I bet she trains dolphins and writes poetry as well. I am currently focusing on her ability to sing though as her latest production with Blood Orange is a certified jam. I could see this blowing up radios near you at any moment, but for the time being feel free to listen below. You can also check out another one of her new songs, "Red Lips," via her website .

Alicia Keys is going back to the basics with her new song "Not Even The King," and I am really digging it. Performances like this truly set apart the talented from the rest of the top 40... Alicia Keys 1 - Ke$ha 0 Look for Girl On Fire in stores this November.

Counting down the days until Kanye & Co.'s Cruel Summer is released? This should hold you over until September 18th. Head on over to fistintheair to stream the album in its entirety. Kanye, you had me at R. Kelly.

Reigning from mighty Portland OR, Balto is back with a new single, "Smokestacks." The new track features many different instruments including my favorite, the mandolin. It might just be a simple folk pop song, but it will leave you with a smile on your face nonetheless. Head on over to Balto's bandcamp to check out the band's other efforts. Smokestacks (Single) by Balto

I realized today its been nearly a year since we last "took cover" so to speak... and thats just plain bogus! So to make it up to you I've compiled a few of my favorites from the past few months. And just like that Tuesdays are relevant again. MP3: John Mayer: Video Games (Lana Del Ray) MP3: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr: Like A Prayer (Madonna) MP3: Avec Sans: Perth (Bon Iver) MP3: [...]
"I'm nothing if I'm nothing but a Yes man" After a big falling out and the ultimate departure of the band's third member, Menomena is about to release their 5th album supremely titled Moms. Although its subject matter is quite depressing, Pique is a beautiful and intricately layered song. It seems as though the band's remaining members are getting along just fine alone. Be sure to purchase Moms when it is released on September 18th.

I'm a bit late to the game on this one, but a recent trip to Maine introduced me to this little gem and I feel so inclined to stop and share. Instead of trying to describe the greatness that is this song, I will let the music speak for itself. Listen to "Ruin" below, and be sure to purchase Cat Power's latest album right here .

Atoms For Peace (Thom Yorke of Radiohead, producer Nigel Godrich, and Flea of The Red Hot Chili Peppers) released a new single today on iTunes. Most are likening the new song to those off of Yorke's solo effort The Eraser , and I must agree. It's a real trip.

After releasing two awesome EP's in 2010, Lord Huron is readying his debut album and it's shaping up to be quite the LP. The first single embodies everything you would expect from the Lord: it's upbeat, it's uplifting, and most of all it's catchy as hell. Look for Lonesome Dreams out October 9th. "I wanted everyone to know you're the girl for me."
Seattle MC Macklemore and his frequent collaborator/producer Ryan Lewis just released the video for their single "Thrift Shop," off their upcoming LP Heist , dropping October 9th. Directed by Jon Jon Augustavo, Ryan Lewis, and Ben Haggerty. The vid is hilariously absurd, the song itself legitimately awesome, and definitely worth four of your minutes.

Schoolboy Q just released a new track via #TDEFamAppreciationWeek, with some production from Kenny Beats.
Are you looking to have the chillest of Friday nights? Then look no further, for The XX have dropped the 2nd single off their forthcoming sophomore album Coexist , and it's down right smooth. So press play, put your feet up, and imagine some hipsters dancing in slow motion.

The quartet is back up and churning like Galen Rupp . Django Django goes all out 802s dance pop on their new self-titled LP . Nicki and the Dove gets in the gospel vibe with a standout from their new LP Instinct . A bit of rare indie rock alchemy from The Neighbourhood's I'm Sorry... EP may leave a different taste in your mouth, but it never hurts to challenge the musical palate.
Our friends over at Yours Truly sent us this video from a session they cooked up with Nick Waterhouse. The session features a short interview reflecting on Nick's musical upbringing and the origins of his old-school soul and r&b sound, along with a live version of the song "Some Place," off his stellar record " Time's All Gone ." "My mom was somebody who played a lot of middle-aged lady records." Hit the jump for his upcoming fall tour: September 26 – Denver, CO @ Larimer [...]

Bloc Party's slower songs still hit me the right way. It seems like every album they produce they include at least three songs that I enjoy. Check out 'Four' below, which is off their upcoming album. It's the song that I will repeat way too many times on this album.

Yes that's right. School Of Seven Bells , authors of the incredible Half Asleep among other songs, just released the best cover of 2012. Dear Mr. Wayne, you have been defeated. Try to listen to this just once, just try. Overall it has been a great year NYC dream pop duo with the release of Ghostory coupled with this gem. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I am pretty sure this is the best song of all time. Listen, download, and love below.

Man, what a week. The end of Le Tour and the commencement of the Olympics this Saturday. For the sporting fan, not too shabby. If you feel inspired to hop on your bike, throw on some cleats or dust off those tennis shoes, tracks by Stars , Towers, The Pass and Felguk will surely get you moving. Whether you plan to be active or plan to watch people be active, enjoy the weekend.

Andrew Osborne, a.k.a Glad Animal Movements, is a college undergrad from Orlando, FL. Fresh out of the gate, Nakedness is GAM's debut EP, recorded within the confines of bedroom [and closet] walls. Treading down the same path as California Wives and The Radio Dept , GAM has conjured a solid effort in the realm of experimental dreamwave. Ethereal vocals rise over soaking synths and rolling beats in an impressive first step for GAM in the genre. Reverberating guitar riffs provide a welcome texture to "Unbecoming", the backbone to the tetrad. The track gives clean identity [...]
