disco naïveté presents: Float Fall at DOK

disco naïveté presents: Float Fall at DOK Things went real quick for Belgian duo Float Fall , know to their friends as Ruben and Rozan - one day they unveil their debut single, next thing you know they're booking flights to New York to play some live shows . All based on one song, the faux-romantic Someday . They close of their Summer with some dates in Belgium, including one at Ghent's own DOK on August 29, a show we're proud to co-present with Democrazy . Tickets are available now at the Democrazy  website . We are giving away [...]

introducing: Kenzie May

introducing: Kenzie May Born in Boston but raised in London, Kenzie May 's debut single Hide & Seek starts off as a jolly pop tune but as soon as she invites you to come and play the game, things get somewhat heated and the track gets a more NSFW-direction. She was discovered via some demos on her Soundcloud , which are her singing on more home-made productions showcasing the sense for rhythm and lyrics of this 19 year old. Heartbeat is easy but lovely pop, while Stay High  reminds us of bad girls like M.I.A. and [...]

video: Lorine Chia - Fly High

Lorine Chia - Fly High (Official Music Video)
Ever since we featured Lorine Chia on here last year and named her as one of The Girls to watch out for in 2013, things have been going at a fast pace for the 19-year old R&B star. Last week her name appeared on a (fake) tracklisting for Kanye West's upcoming Yeezus (even though she herself doesn't really know what that's about ), this week she unveiled the video for her latest joint Fly High . Classic r&b, because why fix something if it ain't broken? As a little bonus, catch her [...]

video: Banks - Warm Water

BANKS - WARM WATER (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
Banks continues her glossy mysterious style in the video for her Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs-produced Warm Water , yet this time with glimpses of her (pretty) face. Love how such a minimalistic production can deliver such a warm, gracious and somewhat pop-oriented vibe.

video: Glass Candy - Beautiful Object

GLASS CANDY "BEAUTIFUL OBJECT"
Whilst we have After Dark 2 on endless repeat, Italians Do It Better in-house visual mastermind Alberto Rossini unveiled the Martin D' Argensio-directed video for one of the many highlights: Glass Candy 's Beautiful Object (actually After Dark 2 is an entire highlight). It features footage of Ida No and Johnny Jewel in the studio, shot during the sessions for the duo's upcoming new album Body Work . Ida and Johnny work their way through the glimmering song, with matching dancing and claps. In related Glass Candy news: Ida No [...]

video: Trixie Whitley - Breathe You In My Dreams

Trixie Whitley - "Breathe you In My Dreams"
Trixie Whitley and Matthu Placek unite again for the video for the former's Breathe You In My Dreams , the next single taken of Trixie's stunning debut album Fourth Corner (one of our favorites of the year). Just like the clip for A Thousand Thieves a few years back , "less is more" is the standard here, with an up-front black & white clip featuring Trixie staring right into your soul.

introducing: Izzy Bizu

introducing: Izzy Bizu Discovered at an open mic night in London a couple of months ago, Izzy Bizu is the name soon to be on everyone's lips. 18 years of age, drawing influences from both classic (Ella Fitzgerald, Betty Swan, Betty Wright and James Brown) and more modern (Amy Winehouse, Adele) established acts, with a sound that is as much classic as it is pop. Production-wise Izzy isn't over-pushing herself: her voice is backed by just a piano, guitar or keyboard on every song, but it's just that aspect what makes us like her even more. It's needless to say she [...]

stream: Baby Alpaca - Wild Child

stream: Baby Alpaca - Wild Child "You said I was a loser / said I was a boozer" has got to be one of the best opening lyrics of the year so far, good thing it's matched with an equally great song. Wild Child is the EP opener of Baby Alpaca 's forthcoming debut EP, an EP of which we premiered the jaw-dropping Sea of Dreams a while back. Wild Child is, as the song suggest, a bit more adventurous but never a distant cry from the soft pop-rock we know from Baby Alpaca.

stream: HAERTS - All The Days

stream: HAERTS - All The Days HAERTS follow up their much buzzed debut single Wings with All The Days , a song that feels like both pop and band at the same time. It has a very classic feeling to it and by the time you've reached the bridge you're already floating to a different world, a truly beautiful place where you get to hear songs this good all the time.

stream: Young Hunting - Baby's First Steps / Wrecking Ball

stream: Young Hunting - Baby's First Steps / Wrecking Ball Young Hunting are one of the bands we've kept our eyes on since the early days of DN that are yet to release a proper album. Three years in the making, the LA quintet have finished it ("it" is titled Hazel ), and as the saying goes: it was worth the wait. You'll have to wait a little longer to hear it in full (perks of being a blogger), but combine these two new songs Baby's First Steps and Wrecking Ball with all of this and you've basically heard the album (kind of). Soothing, [...]

stream: Clare Maguire - Changing Faces (demo)

stream: Clare Maguire - Changing Faces (demo) Clare Maguire is taking a step back from her big-sounding, bombastic pop on Light After Dark (honestly one of the most underestimated pop records of the past few years) on this new demo Changing Faces . Her powerful voice did stay the same (perhaps even better in this minimalistic setting), both in emotion and range, a thing we're thankful for as she's got quite the voice. Combine this with the cover of Joni Mitchell's The Last Time I Saw Richard she put up a few weeks back and you'll be sobbing before you know [...]

stream: Freddie Dickson - Shut Us Down

stream: Freddie Dickson - Shut Us Down "Is this the end of our love?" asks Freddie Dickson in The End - no dear Freddie, this is just the beginning. He made us fall in love with him grace to Shut Us Down , his Lana Del Rey-reminding stunning debut single. His 4-track debut EP Shut Us Down counts more of the flat beat'ed, mystified love songs we crave for. We'd be shocked if this guy didn't go places. Shut Us Down is out now via Heart Throb  and streaming in full below.

stream: London Grammar - Wasting My Young Years (Kids of the Apocalypse remix)

stream: London Grammar - Wasting My Young Years (Kids of the Apocalypse remix) Enigmatic outfit  Kids of the Apocalypse have been tucked away in the studio, figuring out a way how to end the world and remixing DN darlings London Grammar . Wasting My Young Years becomes somewhat of an anti-thesis to the song itself in this buzzing (literally) remix, with singer Hannah sounding like she's about to get wasted instead of wasting. KOTA bring chaos and to the delicate piano tune: doomsday has never sounded this much fun.

video: Sinead Harnett - Got Me

Sinead Harnett - "Got Me" (Produced by The EEL; Eats Everything & Lukas)
Sinead Harnett is matched by purple and green tints in the video for her future club closer Got Me , the first proper single of the London-vocalist and Disclosure/Rudimental/...-coll aborator. Produced by the duo compromised of Eats Everything & Lukas, Got Me drifts right between pop and club, with this radio/video edit working as an appetiser for the proper 6 minute version.

London Grammar - Wasting My Young Years (Official Video)
Just like any of their music, the first video of London trio London Grammar is something of pure beauty. It's a shake black & white affair for Wasting My Young Years featuring the band  and a bunch of corpses floating around in various spaces - the more intense the music, the more corpses around.

introducing: MOVEMENT

introducing: MOVEMENT MOVEMENT are three boys from Sydney, who have been hard at work these past few years and recently signed to Modular (hard work always pays off). Feel Real is the first single of the three-piece, which reminds us of The xx, but rather a version of that three-piece without Romy and with Jamie going crazy on the steel drums (you could also exchange Oliver for Sampha, actually). You could dance to it, but you could also just jam to it in your bedroom - balearic yet romantic, meet your new favorite band.

stream: MØ - Waste of Time

stream: MØ - Waste of Time MØ still blowing everyone else out of the water with her badass mix of pop and hip-hop, new single Waste of Time being everything but that. The basic beat in this new song is clean but sick and with MØ's vocals as a topping, you know it's going to be a lovely mess. Waste of Time is also the first single of her forthcoming debut full-length, which is set for a release on RCA Victor/Chess Club "when it's done."  Hear the song below, which comes with a little video in true MØ style.

video: Moko - Hand On Heart

Moko - Hand On Heart
Moko goes all the way in a barber shop, waving her locks from left to right wilst doing a sultry dance in the midst of curious men in the video for her new song Hand On Heart . We'd find it very hard to sit still (as our hairdresser always kindly asks) with a tune like that playing in the back and a talent like that performing it right there in the mirror. Isn't she amazing ?

PREMIERE - stream: The Slow Revolt - Doldrums

PREMIERE - stream: The Slow Revolt - Doldrums The Slow Revolt making good use of the guitar + electronics combo once more , yet with a more present guitar this time around. Doldrums is taken of the second part of the rising star's This Dark Matter EP, yet attracts you more into his wonderful world. It's all in the details, with the backing vocals, the twitches of the guitar during the chorus and so much more. This is a song to explore and love more with every play.

video: Josef Salvat - Hustler

Josef Salvat - "Hustler" (Official Music Video)
Josef Salvat 's video for Hustler is everything but him hustling: pretty women making out, adoring him, him taking a bath - he's kind of living the lif e, isn't he? Mixed with kaleidoscopic things to pretty up the video even more, Oliver Kember did a great job at directing the hustling life of a pop star in the making.
