Portland duo Pure Bathing Culture just dropped the first track off their follow-up to last year's exceptional self-titled LP: the soaring album opener "Pendulum." It's a cascading, languid call to the early days of summer, and does an excellent job setting up what promises to be one of the most pitch-perfect records of the year. Moon Ti des arrives on August 20 via Partisan Records . The post listen: Pure Bathing Culture — "Pendulum" [...]
Here's another track from the new(ish) Tom Avis and Odie Ouderkirk collab Miss Elizabeth : the bleary/glistening "Ein Weißwein" is off the duo's Luger EP, which arrived yesterday on Bandcamp . mp3: Miss Elizabeth – "Ein Weißwein" The post mp3: Miss Elizabeth – "Ein Weißwein" appeared first on Soft Signal .
It's been quite some time since we checked in on Prince Innocence ( 15 months to be exact ), and in that time it seems that the duo has covered quite a bit of ground. "Golden Hour" hews considerably in the direction of Glass Candy , playing on the same sort of wide-eyed nostalgia that's always so welcome around here. Check the new video above, directed by Jason Harvey . The post video: Prince Innocence – "Golden Hour" appeared first on Soft Signal .
The long weekend that usually marks the first days of summer has arrived, and although the weather took an unusually long time to catch up, chances are you're going to see at least a bit of sun before Tuesday. To set you on your way, we've made a collection of our most replayed obsessions that arrived throughout the winter thaw. mp3: Soft Signal spring 2012 mix (85 mb) Disclosure – “You & Me" (feat. Finally, finally , Italians Do it Better has set a date for After Dark 2 : this Friday (May 17). Here's another lengthy cut off the sampler, from Johnny Jewel 's Mirage project: "Let's Kiss" was written the same week as "Under Your Spell" in November 2008. After a bizarre & beautiful twist of fate, I walked into a remote bar in Montreal where I met the love of my life. The next morning... Ida & I [...]
Here's a new slow-building hymn from Julianna Barwick , taken from her forthcoming, long-teased Nepenthe LP. " Forever " is as lush and soothing as we've come to expect from Barwick, aligned perfectly after her excellent Pacing single and giving a pretty good idea of what's to come when the record arrives in August via her new home at Dead Oceans . Gorgeous video for London Grammar 's " Wasting My Young Years ," out June 16 on the band's own Metal & Dust Recordings . The post video: London Grammar – "Wasting My Young Years" appeared first on Soft Signal .
By now, it's pretty much established that Ryan Hemsworth will never not impress us with whatever he does. Latest on that list is "Perfectly," the lead track of his new Still Awake EP that's slated to drop next week on his website . It's weightless and charming, and only further cements his place as one of the best things to come out of 2013. [ via ] The post listen: Ryan Hemsworth — "Perfectly" appeared first on Soft Signal .
Gold & Youth 's exceptional debut LP Beyon d Wilderness is out today, which also happens to be the day that the band drops a video for " Jewel ," the record's shimmering, towering centrepiece and without question one of the best tracks we've heard all year. Watch the dizzying dance clip above; Beyond Wilderness is out on Arts & Crafts . Directed by Natalie Rae Robison . The [...]

Young Galaxy does a bang-up job channelling The Horrors on their remix of Rachel Zeffira (who conveniently happens to be linked to The Horrors' Faris Badwan) and her excellent The Deserters track "Break The Spell." Ramsay + co. fill the space with a similar sort of churning/sprawling psych, hiding tight loops inside of others, and stacking them until the whole thing begins to resemble the krautrock version of a Matryoshka doll. Zeffira's Break The Spell single is out now on Paper [...]
Our perpetual obsession over DIANA 's timeless, undeniable single " Born Again " has no end in sight, as the track finally gets the video treatment it so rightly deserves. It couldn't be more fitting either, as director Geoffrey Pugen drowns Carmen Elle in a wash of blinding neon, perfectly reflecting the setting carved out by the band's white-hot synths. Better still, this video rides in on the news that DIANA's self-titled debut full-length is set for an August 20 release, thanks to our good friends [...]
Ladyfrnd 's excellent " Sunday " is still one of our most compulsively listened-t o tracks from last year , so it shouldn't come as a surprise that we're pretty stoked on news of a full-length debut from the Vancouver duo. The self-titled LP is slated for a July 15 release on Hybridity Music , and while most of its material is pulled from last year's EP, it makes for a good excuse to revisit the gems of that release, like delicate/dreamy " Un Petit Message ": The post [...]
Here's another magnetic, crystalline single from Stockholm four-piece Kate Boy , who show a bit more teeth and a lot more zeal than we knew they had. "The Way We Are" doesn't differ too much from the blueprints that the band's already laid out for themselves, but it towers much, much higher, reminiscent of the early/ Deep Cuts -era days of The Knife . Fitting, as Kate Akhurst is channelling even more of Karin Dreijer Andersson than she was before (which was already a lot). [ via ] [...]
It's been a long time coming, but Gold & Youth 's debut long-player is finally set to drop next week on Arts & Crafts . Beyond Wilderness lives up to all the promise of it's early singles and then some, coming together in a collection of dusky and widescreen pop gems that will be soundtracking most of our summer nights in the city. Listen to the record in its entirety below. The post listen: Gold & Youth's 'Beyond Wilderness' appeared first on [...]
We were smitten with MS MR 's "Hurricane" when it first dropped last May , and nearly one year later we have another reason to include it in just about every summer mixtape: CHVRCHES " MIIIIAAAMMMMIIIIIIII " remix, which is a sweltering synth-workout that doles itself out in massive proportions: The post listen: MS MR – "Hurricane" (CHVRCHES remix) appeared first on Soft Signal .
Grimes resurrects one of the best tracks off her excellent and all-too-often overlooked 2010 LP Geidi Primes . She writes: Hey — this is a video my friend Video Marsh made for this really old Grimes song from my first record. We were supposed to release it ages ago and somehow it didn't happen probably because it didn't comply with the press cycle at the time and since I've stopped caring about complying with press cycles im sharing this now. Here's the starry-eyed, minimalist cabaret jam/new single from Montreal's Sean Nicholas Savage , taken from his forthcoming Other Life LP that's out May 28 on Arbutus Records . The post listen: Sean Nicholas Savage — "More Than I Love Myself" appeared first on Soft Signal .

We were admittedly asleep at the wheel when oOoOO collaborator Laura Clock , aka Butterclock , dropped her compulsively-listenable breakup anthem " Holograms " late in March, but we've got you covered on the equally charming video directed by Black Cracker , whose gaudy green screen aesthetic perfectly complements the track's plasticine rhythms. Butterclock's First Prom EP is out now via Fantasy Music . The post video: Butterclock — "Holograms" appeared first on Soft Signal .
