Every so often, there's a song that offers up a really beautiful melancholic melody that sounds a little haunting, slightly familiar, and every bit seductive. A deadly combination, if there ever was one. London's Arkestra One (Matthew Timoney and Nina Miranda) cobbles together elements of Air, Aphex Twin, Thievery Corporation, Coldcut, Irresistible Force, and other artists we know and love. Except perhaps there's a bit more retro lounge, '50s/'60s jazz, Brazil '66, Library, Exotica, and funk to his compositions as you'll hear with this perfectly vibed-out track. I sort of forgot to blog yesterday. Oops. Truth be told, I was in a state of "pissed off" the first half of the day. Laser beams were practically shooting out of my eyeballs. My music choice would have been a fear post at best, death metal at worst. But thanks to plenty of advice and useful information from lots o' good friends and colleagues ( and a really ace strawberry milkshake, yum !), I was all better by the afternoon.
