Staging a more successful comeback video than “Gimme More,” Britney Spears has released a sneak peak at her music video for her newest single “Hold It Against Me.” We earlier posted an article about a Brad Walsh Remix of the song, which has been titillating my ears ever since, and I’m excited for the upcoming video. Looks like her stint on tour has revved up her old pop-and-lock, and the old Britney might be shining through…

I came across this gem of a music video today, and was reminded as to how good it actually is. The subtle nuances, the song itself, Amy’s gigantic beehive… all wrap up in a day-long jaunt through downtown Los Angeles, where Ms. Winehouse’s stylistic choices are made to seem as natural as spring in comparison to the vagabonds and degenerates she comes across. All tied together with a liquor-laced bow at the end; Amy staring longingly out the hotel window and a conspicuously placed bottle of alcohol just off center frame. Nick Koenig, filmmaker/musician/producer, has debuted his EP Muscle Milk under the alias Hot Sugar. Available for free download at his website , you can tune in and hear the world as Hot Sugar knows it; full of retro bass lines, throwback beats, and minimalist vocals. It’s an interesting landscape of sound, breaching what seems like generations in a single song. Cheers to Hot Sugar for a solid electro EP, enough to make you dance, but more so chair dance; enough beat to bop to, yet subdued and chill at the same time.

The Knife’s HEARTBEATS music video is an odd assortment of mesmerizing visuals, all of which aimlessly have nothing yet everything to do with one another at the same time. It’s peaceful, like watching the visualizer on your iTunes, but the images are of real things sequenced to move/light up with the beat, as opposed to electric eel mutating spirograph images. Take a looksie-put it on in a dark room and let the crows take you to train land.

Kitsuné just pointed me in the direction of Birkii, a new artist from Paris with a simple and endearing synth texture. Her first track, “Shade Of Doubt”, is a part of the label’s most recent compilation,  Kitsuné Parisien , which is available on their website . That this is already being called the anthem of summer 2011 might be a liiiiittle bold, but man oh man, this could be it! The UK’s electro-popper Chad Valley released this song that, to me, is perfect for the warm (okay, 40 degree) and sunny weather we’ve been having.  Wait for the altered vocals that start about a minute in…and there’s no touching the bass line.  It has a hint of house, a hint of groovy joie de vivre.
