Arguably the biggest snub from this year’s XXL Freshman list, Chance The Rapper is still getting his time in the limelight with his new release, Acid Rap . Check out the visuals for “Smoke Again” featuring another talented dude who did make the cover, Ab-Soul . Stream the trippy tape right here before heading to ChanceRaps.com to download.

The brand new Selebrities single “Temporary Touch” uses it’s romantic interplay to remind us of any number of climatic scenes of 80’s John Hughes films. The new-wave synths bring us to a love-filled wonderland that we never want to leave. I think we all hope to find a significant other that admits “you made me feel adored again”. This is the lead single from the band’s 2nd record Lovely Things out June 25th on Cascine.

SoCal and NoCal team up to release some of the best electronic pop magic I’ve heard the last few months on “Move Me”. Beatsmith Giraffage creates a woozy concoction that gives DWNTWN and Jhameel the opportunity to both croon in the most sultry of ways. If you could have sex while you’re dreaming, this is what it would feel like. Taken from the Kitsune America 2 compilation out now .

A whole batch of new J. Cole tracks makes this a dope start to the month of May. After giving us “Cole Summer,” (which sparked a hilarious Twitter exchange with the subject of one of his lines — see below) Cole dropped Truly Yours 2 , the six-song followup to February’s awesome EP. Kick back and get lost in Cole World.

Hear the new track from LA’s Sir Sly called “Found You Out”. Veering away from the darker pop of previous tracks “Gold” and “Ghost” that warranted all of those The Neighborhood comparisons, here they venture on a more indie-rock driven path. Easily their best song to date full of spacious “oh ah’s” and all, we get to finally see the true colors of this upcoming act and how much potential they have to take over the free world. Sly-fi will reign supreme one day soon.

Brooklyn R&B-leaning electronic outfit Lemonade just uploaded a new track entitled “Perfect Blue”. The chilly tune fits more in line with a wintery landscape, but there’s no denying it’s infectious melodies all over this so we’ll let this snow-capped artwork pass. A heavy bass line, pristine pop vocals, and dizzying synths in the background for make quite the treat. Listen and download below.

Taking an un-coverable song in Chris Malinchak’s electronic beauty “So Good To Me” and flipping it into a piano-driven ballad is something that should not be done. But The 1975 exists and the world is better for that. Listen and download below. Source The video for their new single “The City” can be seen below and stay tuned for their debut full-length this Fall.

¡Más música de Harry Fraud ! This time the producer calls on Earl Sweatshirt and Riff Raff for the track “Yacht Lash” off his upcoming mixtape High Tide due out May 7th.
Empire of the Sun have debuted the music video for the 2013’s feel good anthem “Alive”. In typical sci-fi affair from the duo, the clip shows a distant world filled with gorgeous girls that get brought back to life. Whoever designed the wardrobe for all of these lavish costumes deserves a raise. Kelvin Optical Inc, a division of J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot is responsible for all of this coolness. We’re glad this followed this path of the completely epic album trailer back from March. Ice on [...]

After releasing a couple of demos around a year and half ago, young London singer-songwriter Jamie Issac emerges from the darkness with his debut single “Softly Draining Seas”. The melancholic ballad is too gorgeous for any words to explain. Over a simple snapping/piano chord beat, this heavy-hearted tale showcases a man delivering a powerhouse honest performance that feels as damp as it is inviting. This intense emotional rush from this reminds me of the first time I heard Myyki Ekko’s “Stay” last year. His debut EP I [...]

After storming out of nowhere with the biog smash “Fire”, London’s Bipolar Sunshine returns with the summery new single “Rivers”. Thanks in part to a skittering percussion section, the track loses the moody feeling of it’s predecessor and soars along with the open waves of the world. The “Sunshine” part of his name is starting to make sense. Almost sounds like K’NAAN in a more expansive and genuine effort. His debut EP Aesthetics will be out June 17th.

While we’re starting to get goth-pop princess Charli XCX ’s debut album True Romance on full blast here at HCM HQ, we’re loving nothing more than this Danny Brown-assisted remix of “What I Like”. With the original having our title of the best pop song of 2013 so far, our eyes have little hearts in them at the moment.

Baby Alpaca , the moniker of Brooklyn’s Chris Kittrell is planning to release his debut self-titled EP on June 25th. New track “Sea of Dreams” is minimally produced beauty that lets the sparse piano and juggernaut vocals do all the talking. It feels absolutely massive, yet it’s as open as crashing waves with nothing in sight. Think of a couple having enough money to buy their own private island, and there is nothing but lush scenery and two souls in the world. That’s what this sounds like.

Fantastic folk-pop trio Daughter dropped by the BBC Radio One Live Lounge this weekend to record a drop dead gorgeous cover of Daft Punk’s new mega single “Get Lucky”. Dare I say I enjoy this far more than the original. Nobody melts our hearts like Elena does. Source
Indie Babe of the Week Meet the majestic wonder of London’s Laurel ( Laurel Arnell Cullen ) and her wonderful new single “Blue Blood”. It’s a cinematic journey that will break your heart into a million pieces. The Lana Del Rey comparisons will unfortunately be there due to the dramatic nature of this beast, as well as this opening sample and the thousands of clips used to comprise this music video. But unlike that contrived career, this is truly devastating beauty told by a voice that is immediately far superior to anything Lana will ever [...]

To celebrate their one year anniversary as a band, sex-pop act Night Panther have unveiled a free new single called “All For Love”. It’s a funky celebration that features a riffalicious solo that will have you clamoring for your favorite 80’s hair band. Watch the great video for recent single “Lioness” below.

Indie Babe of the Week Neo-soul artist Lorine Chia has unveiled her new track “Good Enough”. Despite the depressing lyrics, the track bursts with energy thanks to the cascading beat provided by Audio Dope and Chia’s powerful delivery. Under all of the mystical clouds of darkness is a dance track waiting for it’s moment to shine in the limelight. Lorine, you are more than good enough in our eyes.

Another week, another great B-Town act to introduce to you guys in CAVES . Their recent single “Sleep” perfectly combine a shoegaze aesthetic with a 90’s alt-rock leaning attitude. A hazy engagement that gives us angst-ridden kids something to dream about. Don’t excuse these guys as lazy blokes though, as there is some serious talent on display here. Unlike most other Birmingham acts, we actually have decidedly manly vocals for once. This band share the same sentiments as myself when it comes to to beaches. Fuck them.

While there has been countless remixes for the excellent Phoenix single “Entertainment”, the one to catch our attention is this brand new one from Dirty Projectors . Taking the original into a quirky, hand clap-filled escape, this is an overwhelming piece of glitchy masterclass. Bankrupt! is out now.

Arguably one of the most underrated and under appreciated lyricists out there, Los has put out quality mixtape time and time again during his roller coaster career. Today he dropped the much anticipated Becoming King with guests like Pusha T, Wiz Khalifa, Ludacris, and the boss himself, P.Diddy. Check out the song “Disappointed” featuring Diddy and Ludacris, and follow the links below to stream/download Becoming King . Download Mixtape | Free Mixtapes Powered by DatPiff.com
