It's been three years since we've heard peep out of Melbourne's Pikelet , but after listening to their offering, 'Pressure Cooker' it's clear that the pause from this psych-pop group has been worth the wait. 'Pressure Cooker' is the teaser from their forthcoming third album Calluses , due out on Chapter Music on August 16, the six minute track verges on a more dark and dreamy vibes, perfectly surrounding Evelyn Morris ' delicate vocals. Pikelet will launch 'Pressure Cooker' at the Tote Hotel on Friday June 7, with support from Gold Tango and Superstar. [...]

Purple Skies, Toxic Riv er is forthcoming debut record from Canberra all-star collective TV Colours . I caught these play a last week, featuring members from The Fighting League, Assassins 88 and Danger Beach , it was an unsurprisingly well executed performance. Today, TV Colours released the first taste of Purple Skies, Toxic River in the for of 'Beverly', an abrasive track that features some sharp drumming, guitar work drenched in distortion and an anthemic chorus. Purple Skies, Toxic River is out [...]

It was interesting that a lot of people didn't actually believe that the song and clip to the communist-era-inspired 'Ballad of the War Machine' was actually the real deal from Midnight Juggernauts . I don't think anyone is going to have a hard time swallowing 'Memorium', which distinctly leaves any Cold War references behind, with a triumphant display of what I'm really hanging out for, that distinct Juggernauts sound. Don't get me wrong, I love 'Ballad of the War Machine', but the latest offering really nails it for me. It's got a touch of throwback to 20072s 'Road to [...]

I feel in love with Devotional back in late 2011, when under the old name of A Casual End Mile, the Madelaine Lucas wrote and released her debut record, Devils and Devotion . In the time that has passed, A Casual End Mile became the three piece that it is now, and thus, Devotional was formed. This Sunday afternoon they are launching their 'My Baby Loves Me All The Time / Paradise' 73 at the Hollywood in Sydney , so i thought it was a perfect timing to catch up with Madelaine. All new clips from Big Scary , PVT , Bloods , House Of Laurence . The post Video-Philes: Big Scary + PVT + Bloods + House of Laurence appeared first on All I do is listen .

On Alex Cameron 's Soundcloud, their is mention that he's got a phobia of tsunamis, but after listening to his latest release, 'She's Mine', I bet he'd be cool as a cucumber in the face of any abnormally large wave. The twenty-four year old Sydney native has recently come back from a stint abroad, where he spent time hunting down vintage electronic equipment in Paris and generally just having a good time in London. In between all this, Cameron has had time to focus a little more on his own project, sporting the name on his birth certificate. It [...]

It was late 2011 when Alex (Alex & The Ramps) met Lucy in a bar in Berlin. From here on, the two would join forces to make up the electro -dream-pop duo Magic Hands . The first taste of their forthcoming untitled EP is 'Golden Boy', a pulsating slow jam that will be officially released for download from their Bandcamp page tomorrow (8th May). The EP was recorded in early 2013, overlooking a barren French Island from a coastal holiday house and is accordingly inspired by " traditional music cultures, the Twin Peaks soundtrack, and 808 clap [...]

I've never been to Brisbane, coincidentally, I'm a real novice when it comes to talking about or referring to the vibrant music scene they've got going on in the northerly quarter of our country. One day, I'll get there. Today I received a submission that really made my night. Yukon Snakes is an artist I've heard of before, yet never had the chance to check out his distinctive work. 'Grey Not Blonde' has been one hell of an introduction. This swimming track is superb, centered around some great female vocal samples. According to the presser, Yukon Snakes, aka [...]

Joel Carey and Liam Kenny together make up Peak Twins . Last year they put out a split LP with label mates Scott & Charlene's Wedding . This legendary release scored a place in my favourite records of 2012, you can check it out here . 'Steppin' Off' is the single from Peak Twins' forthcoming debut LP out on Bedroom Suck Records. The clip accompanying the 'Steppin' Off' was shot by Pat Telfer who has pretty much established himself as Peak Twins' go-to-man for everything video considering he also filmed the clips fro 'Orange [...]

After putting together a bunch of insane shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, the crew at Hand Games have still got time to do what they do best. The May Mixtape from HG is chock-a-block with recently dropped Australian tracks, catching up with some of our best electronic, rock and fuzz. Lined up on the mixtape is no less than 12 artists, featuring The Growl , Willow Beats , The Preatures , Cassius Select , Bad//Dreams , Hot Palms , Dro Carey , Kirin J Callinan , Roland Tings [...]

Our man behind the lens, Justin Vague , caught all the action at Festival Hall Thursday night, where Flume and Chet Faker dazed the Melbourne crowd during their Infinity Prism tour. [...]

Midnight Juggernauts are a band that taught me how to appreciate electronic/dance music many moons ago. Alongside The Presets and Cut Copy, it was a great time to be attending underage house parties and a great time for Australian dance music. 45 and Rising has been a car mixtape favourite ever since. But Wednesday night was the first time I experienced the Juggernauts live. And my expectations were matched twice over. The Corner was absolutely packed by the time their set got underway and everyone was well prepared for a dance. Providing a set that [...]

This Saturday sees locals Canary launch their first ever videoclip for Carried Away , the opening track from their fantastic album Dear Universe . Featuring jump ropes, dancing, bonfires and a love interest played by none other than Lisa Salvo, this clip is all kinds of fun. To celebrate, Canary are taking the stage at the Grace Darling this Saturday for just their second gig this year, supported by Tulahlah and Seán Ainsworth [...]

We've been waiting for this day for a very long time now. After months of speculation and cross-checking international festival line-ups, the Splendour in the Grass line-up is here. With a more than impressive Australian contingent, the festival takes place outside Byron from the 26th-28th of July. There's quite a few bands on this list who are making a return to our live circuit, such as You Am I , Matt Corby , Empire of the Sun and Cloud Control . While You Am I will be playing their classic albums [...]

If you've read the article by Mess + Noise contributor, and possibly more important the comments that it sparked, you'd be well aware that Kirin J Callinan divides opinion. Even though he's been labeled distinctly underground, or more recently ‘the artist’s artist’, Callinan has had some seemingly wider audience wins, such as teh Triple J "J Award" for Best Music Video of the Year, even though the station was unsurprisingly less supportive of the track that accompanied it. Callinan is quietly poised to release this debut record. After years of speculation and an entire record being canned, Kirin [...]

Receiving this EP earlier in the week has been all that has gotten me through to the weekend so I thought it was about time to share it with you all, especially at this critical point in your Friday morning. LUCIANBLOMKAMP is a Melbourne based producer who we've been hanging out to hear from ever since he released You & Me back in January. And it has been well worth the wait. This self-titled first offering is so spot on, I am going to struggle to describe it for you. Opening [...]

This weekend sees the return of CARBON festival to our fair city for its third year, featuring presentations from all those in the know when it comes to all design, style and street culture. As a music blog, naturally we are interested in the entertainment for the weekend, and boy is it impressive. 1000 £ Bend will be taken over with 3D visuals from Eness while Andras Fox, Bamboo Musik DJs and Swick do their thing on the decks. Also expect appearances from digital artists Geoff Lillemon [...]

It must be fate that 'Vision' is my favourite track from Aluka 's debut record and that I've been paired with the video that details how the track was recorded. Aluka are incredibly dynamic, using just what they were born with, these young women collectively produce some incredible and truly organic sounds. Space , is the debut album from the trio, recorded and produced by Nick Huggins (Oscar + Martin, Kid Sam), Space is an " exploration in sound, storytelling, location and production ". Space was released last Friday, the 5th of [...]

Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest Collection proudly presents NOISE, an exhibition of the 'Soundscape as art'.
