In celebration of the festival, we decided to put together some tracks from the Australian artists performing. Why Don't You Believe Me? have produced some of the finest releases of the year, Hot Palms , Yuko Kono, Velcro , Emma Russack and Lehmann B. Smith are just a few of the names that call the label home. Alec Marshall , the brains behind the growing beast that is WDYBM? did a stellar mix tape for us a short time ago, you can check it out here . As the year comes to the end, WDYBM? have put together a sampler from the label, weaving some beautiful [...]

Remember our post we did on Sydney beat-master True North ? Recently his Bespoke EP has been reworked by a bunch of other super talented young folk. Guerre , Nakagin , Lower Spectrum and Network have all had their way with True North 's tracks. Culminating in an assault to the senses, this remixed EP exemplifies and compliments the original work, the tracks are thoughtfully cut up, layered and reworked. I'm particulary fond of the Lower Spectrum Remix of 'Klopfgeist'. It's available for a 'Name Your Price' on [...]

Usually, I am one to clamp down on these things like a ton of bricks, In my family, I could be seen as the Christmas Carol Customs Officer, searching bags so no one brings in dreaded eardrum piercing objects. Yet, I've been duped and I'm glad of it. A lovely bunch from Perth have compiled a group of tracks that I don't think sound anything like Christmas carols, rather, the good folk provide an awesome 17:00 of great washed out tunes. Shiny Joe Ryan, Jamie Terry , Doctopus , Felicity Groom and Andrew Ryan , [...]
This is the first year I have done this kind of post, but I think it's fair enough considering the incredible video clips that have been shot, directed and released this year. I find video clips interesting in the way that you could argue that they have become somewhat of an old tradition, that has taken on and new life. Not too long ago video clips were purely promotional, created for lucrative T.V airtime. As technology has changed, so has the industry responsible for creating our visual accompaniments. Now almost all premiere on mega websites instead of the T.V, and [...]

2012 has been one hell of a year when we look back at all the great releases, instead of ranting on about how Australia punches above it's weight year after year, I'm just going to cut to the chase. There are many of these 'Best Albums' lists cruising around the inter-webs at the moment, I think they are a great way to find records by local artists that for whatever reason haven't popped up on your radar. This being said, there are piles of records I never got around to, so I'm sure there are some I've embarrassed myself by [...]

Last weekend I had the pleasure of traveling to Mount Egerton to take part in one of our newest, and fast-becoming, most-beloved music festivals, Inca Roads . A tight-knit crew of music lovers and bands/artists made up most of the crowd of at a guess 250 people for the weekend. While the weather was trying at times, and there were incredible thunderstorms, lightening and floods, I also managed to get a cheeky sunburn. Never have I experienced four seasons in one day so literally. The venue itself has beautiful surrounds, and is the perfect setting for a [...]

My fellow Aussie only blogger Tim Sharp moonlights presenting a program on Sydney’s FBi radio called The Bridge , with two other FBi legends. The program focuses purely on Sydney based artists, as the name suggests and recently hatched the idea to compile a quarterly release for download featuring and showcasing great emerging Sydney artists. The first cab off the rank of these releases is 'Double Act' , named after the Day Ravies track that is one of ten tracks to feature on the release. The releases also source local artwork, with the first [...]

Grand Prismatics - Birds And Beasts (2012; Birds Love Fighting) When I received Grand Prismatic's debut Birds And Beasts as a submission, I had already listened to it more than half a dozen times. Yet what I found most interesting was the tiny note that came with the email, " Peace in, Peace Out " wrote one of the band members, that was it. This small note, oddly enough, painted an important quality of the record. The point being that Birds And Beasts is devoid of any flashing lights, gimmicks [...]

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds are set to release their fifteenth record on February the 18th next year, titled Push The Sky Away . Already being tagged as Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds' most "subtly beautiful" record, at the heart of the LP lies it's "naturalism and warmth". " Well, If we were to use that threadbare metaphor of albums being like children, then Push The Sky Away is the ghost-baby in the incubator and Warrens loops are it's tiny, trembling heart-beat " - Nick Cave via nickcave.com The first peak [...]

The first time I saw Rat & Co play at The Mercat Basement, I was really blown away by his ambient, flowing sounds. At the time he was supporting his good friend and band-mate, Chet Faker . It would be unfair to say Joshua Delaney has come a long way since, because in reality, he hasn't, more the point is people have begun to recognize his distinct and exceptional craft. Now with a full band Delaney's latest release consists of a double dose, two tracks varying in elements of lounge and more [...]
First day of summer for us down-under kids, no better way to kick it off than stay inside and watch videos right? Right. This little package is wrapping up some of the best visual releases in the past weeks ans what a brilliant lot they all are. Ethereal pop gangsters Water Graves from Perth bring us their clip for 'Creatures', Melbourne's Neighborhood Youth also just released their clip for 'Holiday'. Zanzibar Chanel have crafted a pretty DIY clip for 'Feel My Power' check this one out for some pretty crazy [...]

In the wake of their appearance at Inca Roads this weekend, Electric Sea Spider have released new album Supercash . An eclectic mix of samples, beats and electronic tweaks, Supercash is a 13 track journey not to be entered into lightly. All ready receiving critical acclaim as RRR's Album of the Week this week, Electric Sea Spider has pulled out all the stops with this one. Easing in with Armani Slums , you immediately get a feel for what this record is going to be [...]
No words today, just pure vidz, I'm currently in Vietnam so time means Pho Bo at the moment. Thanks go to PVT, Stillwife , Naysayer & Gilsun , and The Proc ess and of course the talented people behind the making of these videos. Still Wife - Out To Sea from WilkWilk on Vimeo . The post Video-Philes: PVT + Stillwife + Naysayer & Gilsun + [...]

Brisbane psychedelic pop formation, Blank Realm , comprises of siblings Daniel, Luke and Sarah Spencer along with unrelated ring in Luke Walsh. I have a real attraction to their sound, it's messy, angled and totally inspiring. There are some great similarities in sound with label mates, Terrible Truths, a similar angled sound, with sometimes out-of-place almost yelping vocals that are indispensable to the refreshing sound Blank Realm produce. The groups latest record, Go Easy is out November 16th, through Bedroom Suck Records . Blank Realm - Cleaning Up [...]

Brothers Hand Mirror have been pretty busy of late, having all ready released a very well received EP earlier this year. And their latest offering, Muddy Now, looks to be destined for the same fate. Creating a truly unique sound, Oscar Key Sung (O&M) and HTML Flowers make up the Brothers Hand Mirror outfit. Oscar provides beats and backing while HTML Flowers rhymes, creating an undeniably head-nodding dynamic. Opening track Bus Tickets is relatively up-tempo in comparison [...]

Photo: Mclean Stephenson It's a bit of an understatement labeling Donny Benet as an enigma, in my eyes, the guys is a living legend. Ahead of his 'Australian Heat' tour, I asked Donny to prepare a little package for us here at All I Do Is Listen . He obliged, in classic Benet style. Wrap your ears and eyes around Donny's favourite Australian tracks from the past. There’s so much good music in Australia to choose from in my lifetime. In the present day artists such as Kirin, Ladder, [...]

Perth's Water Graves a producing very some chilled-out sounds at the moment, ambient pop, chillwave, ethereal injection to the arm or whatever you prefer to call it, 'Creatures' is providing the ultimate spin. Originating out of Coel Healy's bedroom, Blake Hart was quick to take a part in the duo, following this the two have been working on their sounds from a living room in Fremantle. a You can find Water Graves on Facebook or Soundcloud . Make sure you keep up to date on their whereabouts and upcoming shows. [...]

Ever since I got the word that Perth's Doctopus were blasting room's with their live performances, I've been nagging the shit out of them to send me some tracks over the inter-webs. Today, I was directed to their Bandcamp , where some very fresh snippets of garage diamonds-in-the-rough lie, waiting to be downloaded. So when the party starts to linger at 3am, you can provide everyone with some of that EPO business that Lance Armstrong used. 'Buddies Teasers' is just that, a teaser of what's to come on Doctopus' forthcoming record titled [...]
