To celebrate her recent signing to 4AD, and ahead of her forthcoming album release on the 12th March, Claire 'Grimes' Boucher is giving away this excellent MP3 taster track 'Genesis' - think of it as a belated Christmas gift! A poignant piece of lo-fi singed, ethereal synth-pop, intertwined with the breathy, abstract vocals that make Grimes' sound so undeniably distinct. This Kendal bred, London based four-piece produce transfixing soundscapes that combine haunting vocals with drawn out guitars and scratchy synths. Their music is prevalent with influences taken from the last decade of indie and yet manages to avoid falling into the imitation trap. ‘Human' is a minimalist and progressive track, stripped back to allow for the teasing vocals of lead singer Fiona Burgess to take the lead. Californian duo Tashaki Miyaki released their debut 4 track EP on the 31st October of this year. Following the release of a couple of covers, including their brilliantly shadowy version of the Everly Brother's "All I Have to do is Dream", the male-female pairing have released this eerie surf-pop collection of tracks through label The Sounds Of Sweet Nothing. Stand out track ‘Somethin’ Better Than Nothin’ is a stoically forlorn effort, combining wailing reverberations with 60s influenced melodies. Have a listen here...

A powerful remix of the original, Dusk has incorporated low synths and tribal influenced drums with a bit of glitchy effects added in for good measure to create a moody dancefloor version of the original.

This track from their forthcoming second album ‘Days’ has the band delivering 5 minutes of sublime dream-pop for the listener to languidly drift through. It’s all too easy to immerse yourself as spindly guitars interplay harmoniously and soft vocal melodies echo together to give this cut an ever so slightly Stone Roses-esque quality. Despite the appallingly pretentious name (come on guys) this track is sterling. An inventive mash of bluesy vocals and incongruous melodies, Tessellate reverberates eccentrically through its 3minutes and 18seconds. A stuttering beat is laid across a simplified backing of atmospheric tension, whilst ambiguous lyrics litter the track effervescently. A layered masterpiece that loops and flays with a determination that sounds simultaneously buoyant yet nonchalant. Check it.
Cult band The Subways have returned with another edition of their pop/punk inspired music with third album Money & Celebrities , which will be hitting stores next month. A newborn of a band, Replicas have steadily built a sturdy underground fan base since their inception at the end of 2010. The partnership of vocalist/guitarist Helena Gee and vocalist/guitarist/keys player Ashiya Eastwood has resulted in an amalgamation of icy, melodic, pop music, with a grungy edge and provocative tendencies. 'The City' is part of a three track 73 vinyl EP produced by Tim Burgess, with a release date of the 26th September. The surreal and dreamy Beach Fossils have collaborated with Urban Outfitters to create a pretty fly video to accompany track 'Adversity', released from their latest E 'What a Pleasure'. Visually splendid, the video is aesthetically awe-inspiring, which is just as well considering the track itself is like a love letter to the ears.

One listen of Love Inks and I was smitten. A wave of lady love overcame me as vocalist Sherry LeBlanc's etheral tones wash over me, shame then that she's married to band mate and bassist Kevin Dehan. Together with guitarist Adam Linnell the trio make minimalist music with a lo-fi aesthetic. Too Wild is a spidery love letter of a track and the new video that accompanies it is a retro mash-up of black and white footage featuring fighting cats and taxi riding deer...
Hailing from Buckinghamshire is this (so far) under the radar band Xuuki with 'Falling Through Trees'. Immersive and simply beautiful, 'Falling Through Trees' combines waves of vocal beauty and intricate guitar lines to create an epic sound that feels as though it is a suspension of consciousness.
